- Great Lake Swimmers vocalist Tony Dekker has developed a sterling track record for gentle ruminations on nature, beauty, conflict and the human body. In this three-song set, "Everything Is Moving So Fast" and "Pulling on a Line" were both drawn from Great Lake Swimmers' latest album, Lost Channels. The set closes with my favorite Great Lake Swimmers song, "Various Stages" (from 2005's Bodies & Minds).

I love the fact that many of the artists on this series seem so shy and introverted and at a loss for words when they have to talk. But then when they start to sing some kind of magic happens and they seem above the rest of us, emotionally, spiritually, and in terms of their many talents.
I Grew up with Tony, he really is a reserved and shy person. But one of the nicest people you could meet.
@@Draithian Wow. this is like a message in a bottle. I wrote a comment and nine years late someone responds!!! Hilarious.
@@stringfever100 it's still a relevant comment!
Genuine. No mask. Just lays it out there hiding nothing. No false bravado, nothing fake. Tony, if I had millions, I'd give you a million a year to keep making this beautiful music.
Going to watch this guy and his band tonight - can't wait 💜💜
I’ve always loved the Great Lake Swimmers for many years and this brings me so much peace every time I listen.
i love great lake swimmers!!!
Tony Dekker is a great lyricist.....he translates his message very well.
I don't always watch a tiny desk concert all the way through, but I didn't want this one to end. I'm seeing them next week in Ann Arbor with my daughter---can't wait.
his personality and the shyness and gentleness in his voice when he answers questions reminds me soooooo much of elliott smith. which is a great thing
I love this so much 💗 such a beautiful voice! Such talent!
This performance of Various Stages is simply perfection.
their lyrics are pure poetry
Confession: I listen to this all the time and sing along using the Julie Fader harmonies from Lost Channels.
Awww he's so shy, that's cute
He is truly like that... honestly, the nicest person ever met.
fantastic treasures at your Tiny Desk
beautiful....
Example of a true, true artist, Mr. Dekker
very very nice voice and pretty good on guitar too. A new talent indeed.
Great music!
ahhh love it, love it!
Hey, guys/girls! I love your studio! I've found out thiese videos today and I feel like I've found a musical spring of gold!
Very Good, congratulation fron Brazil
Profound talent Mr. Dekker and also the rest of your band - I'm impressed. I heard your song "Various Stages" at the end credits of a movie made this year, it totally captivated my consciousness and prompted me to look for info of the song, so I eventually did a search and stumbled upon this video. Am so glad I followed my mind. You have a 1 more fan from the Isles Bro. Nice program Tiny Desk concert, I'll stay tuned. Keep up the good work Swimmers.
Man he's good!
Amazing. I'm surprised this doesn't have more views.
I see the Rolling Stone Music Guide and some Uncuts on the shelf. I like both of the first songs heard 'em on Radio Paradise for the last several years and always sing along.
his voice is so.... it seems so innocent to me somehow 5 stars :]
I wish a woman who loves daisies meet your eyes in the flower garden.
Agreed!
Harmonica over banjo!
lindo
ugghh. in love.
the chorus sounds like a slowed down Foo Fighters This is a call....just the notes really :) Great song though, love his voice
Does the first song belong to them?
@justshoe whats that suppose to mean?
Sorry I meant Learn to Fly!
He looks like Rick Grimes.
@arfurlife new?! you're kidding right?
oh i though you meant it in a different way
comments about his "shyness" or awkwardness to me are Canadian personality traits. look at early Wayne Gretzky or Mike Myers and you will see the same
gregoryian123 look at Jim carrey, but I do know what you mean
Foxy.
He reminds me of Adam Cullen
They even play the same guitar!

Check him out!
RIck Grimes.
It's supposed to mean that the Great Lake Swimmers are not new talent in the slightest. They've been around for nine years or so, as of this year, so they're not new in any stretch of the word. They are talented, though.
..
almost skipped over this vid cause i didnt like the beginning of the first song... welll that was almost the biggest mistake ive ever made
yooo he's awkward. but such a great singer. SUCH a great singer. but still seriously awkward. lol
stilted conversations in between the songs.
