It's a heartbreak song, used as soundtrack for a TV drama series "The Broken Marriage Vow", about a wife suffering due to the infidelity of her husband. Mori embodied the emotions of the song which starts with "Crying every night..", the sadness, the pain, the confusion, the struggle of choosing between the person she loves but is unfaithful to her, or herself. The chorus says "I already want to let go, but my heart doesn't want to". But would she let the pain linger? At the end, she chosed herself and to let go.
It's one of the most difficult songs written in Filipino, it demands a lot from the singer due to the non-stop belting towards the end, plus the emotions that need to be portrayed. It became viral in the Philippines, as was the teleseries. Mori was chosen by the show producers to do a rendition of the song, and it became an instant hit. She owned the song, with her power and intensity, and her squeaks, and also her heartfelt and emotive execution, plus her stamina and amazing breath control. Thank you for not pausing until the song was finished, so we could all savor the momentum and intensity of her performance! We all got overwhelmed and mind-blown! And to think that this was live, in a radio station, with her sitting, cross-legged! This has got to be our new favorite Wish Bus performance.🥰
Morissette's stamina is unbelievable and one more thing that separates her from other singers. Her ability to maintain that intensity throughout this incredible performance is just incomparable. The crazy thing about it is that I saw Mori in a video shot after she did this apologizeing to her fans for it not being her best! That defies comprehension to me, but explains why Mori is the best. Her own standard for her performances is off the chart. I cannot imagine this performance being any better. It was perfect!!!

The title of the song means I want to let go. So it is about a relationship in the crossroads of a break-up. The moments when she is belting out Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw shows the intense agony and pain of arriving at a decision..in the end part of the song as she mellows down sadly..the decision was 'pipiliin ang sarili'..it means she will choose herself...so she will now let go.

That's a genuine sigh of relief right there at the end. She's a bit fatigued and under the weather here - as can be heard from the somewhat gravelly voice and the timid growls - from several weeks of almost non stop engagements after fulfilling commitments that were previously postponed due to the pandemic and had to take some steroids to be able to go through with this. But 2 month before this Wishbus gig, she did a live band performance of this same song - in full HD - with the same crew that played in the recorded version. Now that was a well-rested, IN-FULL-SLAYER MODE Mori! You don't have to react to it, but you gotta give it a listen. Loved watching your reviews of Mori's performances. 🌺

Our filipino alphabet vowels are very much basic and fix to pronounce - a, e, i, o, u. Say a - ah as in Apple, e - eh as in Emulate, i - iih as in Irate, o - Oh as in Of, u - Ooops. Do this always when pronouncing tagalog words. Enjoy!
