I am also a Christian and am empath and I still fight tears every time I watch it. Between the music, the lyrics and her voice and emotional display, how can one NOT be moved by this? She is named after that ,other Morissette, Alanis Morissette, who was her fathers favorite pop artist. Her first name is Johanne , named after Johanne Bach. This was written by Freddie Santos and music by Gary Valenciano. It was used in a gospel play in the early 90's called First Name. Freddie passed in Dec. 2020 and they revived this play calling it, First Name Anew , and Gary wanted Mori , knowing her deep faith, to sing it, and this is what you get.

I may have already commented to you that Morissette became a born-again Christian just a few years ago. And without a doubt, she sang this song with her unwavering faith and her love for our Savior. And I'm so glad you recognized that she did this on her knees because it was as if she were praying to God, in her humbleness and reverence, as many of us do when we sometimes feel lost in this world. The lyrics are so poignant and moving because to non-believers who search for "something" to matter, someone to worship that's much bigger than them, she tells with her moving vocals, with the sound of desperation, that all anyone has to do is ask God to be all things to them....and He will be!! I copied and pasted this next sentence for you. Veteran theater and live concert director Freddie Santos wrote the song, “Could You Be Messiah,” for the ‘80s stage musical, First Name. It was Gary Valenciano who composed the music but he "re-arranged" it JUST FOR Morissette to perform it. She did this song in one take, by the way!! I'm so pleased that you reacted to it. Mori and her husband Dave Lamar are regularly go to church and sing, now the song lyrics were writen by Freddie Santos and the arrangement is from Gary Valenciano for a Philippinen Christian Musical in the 90s, sadly Freddie passed away in 2020 so this was a Tribut to Freddie, rearranged from Gary for Mori to sing with Dave doing the editing and videotogragher with the help of stages sessions Produktion, the whole Black and white with the back Lightning was superb, this and WIND BENEATH MY WINGS made me cry because of the emotion and the story telling that Mori just does with so much heart.
