Wes Barker is a Canadian magician and comedian doing funny tricks, and telling great stories. Watch here for hilarious magic, stunts, and pranks. I am the funniest magician that is also a stand-up comic, or maybe I'm the comic who is best at magic. Either way you get the idea. I tour all over doing colleges, comedy clubs, and corporate events. Catch the adventures and tricks right here. With this magician / comedian based out of Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. I make funny stuff. That’s my only rule. Everything has to be funny, from street magic to stage illusions, as long as there is a joke to be made. I do magic tricks, sketches, stand-up comedy, card tricks, mind reading, and tricks with naked people. I’ve been on America’s Got Talent, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, MTV Greatest Party Stories Ever, and Wizard Wars. You can find me pulling pranks on friends, gags on strangers, or just general sleight of hand, magic, illusions, and the occasional bar bet. Wes Barker also hosts a podcast with Chris Ramsay called Bottom Of The Barrel. Go check it out! - Zábava
Fun fact: Dan & Dave were the hand doubles on Smoking aces and the fan move is called the Carnahan fan, named after the main character of the movie,
They also did NYSM opening scene
straight up, i bought the Trilogy because of the Carnahan fan haha
I was just about to write this... 💪🏻
Chris, your profile picture goes so well with your comment haha. ''mister fun fact''
Chris, why are you guys letting Wes get away with saying “team” in his intros!? This is the cringiest thing possible.
Chris Pratt actually knows a little about magic... He did a trick in Graham Norton Show too
Oh yeah that's right! I'm gonna watch that again!
Yeah, can you throw that in a future vid?
@@MikeB12800 Yes please, I 2nd that motion.
I'll third this one! It's such an awesome trick and Pratt's quirkiness comes through wonderfully!
Possibly a tutorial???
Mythbusters had Ricky Jay teach them how to throw cards. Early in the segment they had a camera guy stand at the other end of the warehouse - 100, maybe 150 feet - and Adam asked Ricky if he thought he could throw a card that far. Ricky gave him a look, turned, and threw... and hit the camera.
How can a magician be so Damn handsome!?
Where’s your new content ERIC!!??!???
I studied your every move
@@WesBarker handsome, humble, and smooth? Hot damn, watch out ladies, this man is a triple threat.
I don't know ugo.
Hey Eric, I think you wanted to post this comment on my channel...
As soon as you said the words "Criminal Minds" I knew _exactly_ which scene you were about to play lol.
magician dad joke:
how many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb?
well it depends on what you want to change it into!
wes baker : you have to cheat it you have to
me in my exams : time to follow some advice from mr.baker
Spoiler alert:
I think people forget that the whole payoff of now you see me is that magic is real
oh yehhhh😭😭
i always forget that , thats why its so unrealistic. love the movies tho
I believe the guy being knocked over by a card being thrown at him was more because he was surprised by getting hit in the face then the power of the card hitting him. So imagine if you were that guy getting up and while you were getting up you get hit by a card in the face your reaction might throw you back
Yes, exactly this! If you get a card thrown by someone who knows how to really throw a card ofc you will throw your head back like that from the shock of it.
Can't get enough of this particular content, thanks Wes. Lovin' it!
Dan and Dave Buck were the hand doubles on Smokin' Aces. Fun fact: The move at 0:35 was invented by them whilst working on this movie, so they named it the Carnahan Fan, after the director "Smokin'" Joe Carnahan.
The damn cut he did with Chris Pratts scene had me wheezing 😂😂😂
Are you and Eric roommates? I swear he comments the instant your videos go up! I wish my mom cared as much about my life as Eric does about your social presence.
Notification Squad Baby!
Glad these videos are working out so well for you. You've cracked the algorithm my man congratulations.
The movie "Sleight" is about an orphaned street magician and there are several street tricks in the beginning of the movie. Not a well, known movie, but I liked it.
Awful movie. Cool fontaines
I'm just going to say this once, in this comment section, but, I love all your content. Please keep going. You and all your friends might take over all my TV watching needs soon.
Thanks man. I appreciate that!
I love this series! And I love your vanish at the end! 😆👏👍
"For good for evil"
Spot on impression of Jason Parker !
A few things here.
1: gotta say love your channel. Respectable, honest, hilarious, so skilled
2: YOU STOPPED THE criminal minds clip too soon! He did the pencil thing but if I'm not mistaken, he did some business card and coin slight of hand? I think? Shout out to how charming Reid was btw
3: that audio cut on the first now you see me clip? Probably for Copyright reasons?
There is also magic in the older TV series White Collar. Also there is a whole episode in Supernatural based on magic/magicians. Def a good watch.
I’ll check it out!
@@WesBarker The Supernatural Episode is called "Criss Angel is a Douche Bag" Season 4 Episode 12
Ahh YES! Love this series
love you wes. one of my fav magicians! :)
This series is becoming a fast favorite of mine. Subscribing now. 😊
For scenes like the first one these days (with digital) you could totally film the actor in full frontal performing the actions, then film the magician doing it in the same position and just use the upper half of the actor and lower half of the magician. Then it looks like a full shot of the actor doing it without cutting back and forth to "just hands". Not sure why anyone hasn't done this yet?
This is my favorite series ever, that and Chris Ramsay's flash or pass, and honestly i love it all, I would like to ask though, make your vids longer this is a phenomenal series and i need more thanks byeeeeeeee
Good stuff and congrats on the tv show. Can’t wait
Loving this content Wes! Thanks mate
Glad you enjoy it!
Can’t wait to see the puzzle you’ve built for Chris and I’m hanging out for the new show you guys have coming too! You guys stay safe and thanks for keeping us all entertained.
You should really react Chirs Pratt doing magic in the graham norton show. So awesome. Love your content.
I would think in the card throwing scene it’s not the card flinging him back it’s the guy reacting to suddenly having something thrown in his face. If your not ready for that I totally believe you would fall back like that.
Have you done any films where you were a hand double or something? Let’s see you review those
Yes I have. I think 4 or 5 that I can recall. Ok, I'll throw them on the list!
@@WesBarker I would really enjoy seeing that.
@@WesBarker Yeah!
The thrown card knocking him back. Instead of the impact, him ducking backwards because something just came at his face??
Love the reacts.
Yeah, he was already off balance, his flinch made him fall, not really the force of the card
Excellent commentary. Wes makes magic kool.
Completely missed the part in criminal minds where Reid makes his phone number magically appear in her barrette
Reminds me of something from Back ot the Future. Michael J Fox actually learned to play guitar...EVEN THOUGH he was gonna be overdubbed...
Because that way, he could get the movements and look right close enough that people couldn't tell.
These are fun to watch, pretty cool
I thought this was really good loved you on fool us sir, I did think on now you see me that when he threw the card at the guys face that it was more him flinching because it came at and hit im in the face than actually knocking him back. Great content love this
The part where he makes the guy fall over by throwing a card at him - I think it has more to do with surprise. The guy wasnt exactly expecting that it it probably startled him, therefore he fell backwards trying to avoid it like you would if you suddenly got smacked in the head with a spider web. Also our pain receptors make us jump away from surprise pain like a surprise burn. So getting a surprise scratch would do the same thing.
Wes! Dude I doubt you have any idea who I am as I was a couple years younger than you at our highschool but I just randomly came across your channel after seeing you do a virtual escape room with Chris. Anyways just want to say you're awesome and inspiring to see you pursue your passion fully. I first saw you perform magic for my best friend's fundraiser for Southern Sudan and now it's so cool to find that you fooled P & T.
Really? That’s awesome. CZcams is always bringing people back around! I can’t tell what your name is so I don’t know if I remember you.
@@WesBarker my bad, my name is Brendan Kwiatkowski, I was more a volleyball player but I remember you with a basketball twirling around your finger most of the time haha
@@12glorifindel haha with that detail alone I know you where there 😆 So you woulda played v-ball with Rory then? That’s awesome. Thanks for watching my stuff man! Glad you found it.
Disney+ Movie Magic Camp, its what you would expect from a Disney TV movie but some of the magic they do in it is rather good surprisingly, give it a watch
"You little shit!"
"You little shit!"
"What game you're playing ?"
"What game you're playing ?"
Great vids! I have new movies to look forward to. And as the song goes, "... WES!!..."
I love watching these videos. I think it's so clever to see if movies and TV shows actually have real magic or not. You should take a look at the opening scene of episode 6 of the TV Show Deception.
I was listening to BoB at work, thanks for making me giggle to myself like a psychopath. Lol
hahaha that's the best!!
With Now You See Me I don’t think the card actually knocked the guy back so much as he just saw something flying toward his face and just kind of flinched and shot backwards trying to avoid it.
There's a magic scene in an episode of Leverage season 2 - can't remember which one because it's so long ago but you should be able to find it no problems
I think it's called the Top Hat Job S02E06, I would also like to see a reaction to it, if possible
I like the Magnificent Seven clip because the trick itself IS the misdirection so he can get the drop on them, the ultimate reveal being his gun, not their card
Should do the whole Now You See Me movie scenes u havent done thatd be great maybe do the a few vid series
I love how you and the magician gang always comment and read comments on eachother's videos
I know you haven't done one of these in a while but there's a magic scene in dante's peak, where pierce Brosnan's character does a couple of magic tricks
Check out some of the Sleight (2016) magic!
Jeremy piven learned some of his tricks in smoking aces
I’ll say with the card knocking the guy back in the sink. I think it was more a flinch from the card than it knocking him back in the movie. But I digress
100% agree.
I think Matthew Gray Gubler has done a few other magic tricks on Criminal Minds, though I can't remember specific scenes/episodes. But it does seem like the kind of thing MGG would just learn how to do on his own, so they're probably real. :)
Check out NPH in the 2013 Tony Awards opening. He does a disappearing trick in the middle of his song.
Yehey hahahahah I just finished my laundry and not my module 😂
I think you missed the point of the Dave Franco scene in now you see me. The cops were playing into the magicians hands, granted we didn’t know at the time, but the entire thing was planned so the tricks that needed more would be more plausible in hindsight
"Those cuts are amazing"
Wonderful. Awesome videos man I hope to see you breaking down deception series. It is pretty cool. By the way fun fact : nobody says that they are an evil magician.😅
I don't think magic is evil, by itself, it depends on how somebody uses it, whether it's good or bad
@@ChrisJohnson-oq9ns Absolutely right That is what I meant.
Chris Pratt's card trick on Graham Norton is entertaining. If only to hear him say "Will-i-shazam!"
There was a great scene in Spartacus when Tony Curtis pulled an egg out from behind someones ear.
Netflix's Dark
Episode 1. One of the early scenes with Mikkel. Cups and ball trick
Hey dude you really inspired me 🙂 and can you judge agt magician cuz Simon and others don't know how to judge magician lol and can tell us like how they done it, thank you
Chris Pratt can really present a trick well! Idk who said it but something about a great actor being a great magician and a great magician being a great actor.
The color correction is crazy HAHAHAHA
Awesome 😎
So, question that you might answer from a previous video...
I once saw a bald guy in New Orlean's doing what LOOKED like 3 card monte?
Turned out to be a stage magician. Who was freaking MAGNIFICENT. Had a top hat, think he was bald? Was on a talk show once, did the thing with the Watermelon...I do NOT know the guy's name. Saw him at the same time as Dragon master Showcase.
(He did the cup and balls...just...second best version of it I've ever seen. Best version live)
Forgetting his name has haunted me for YEARS.
Opening credits to the movie shade. Nothing is hidden but man it’s cool to watch. I think it’s Chris Kenner’s hands.
Hey you need to react to “Magic Camp” on Disney+ , staring Adam Devine and Jeffrey Tambor. It also has some cameos such as Justin Willman from “Human Magic” .
There are a few tricks in the show “Dark” on Netflix. Please do those!!!
Could you please send a few tricks from "Dark", showing me how to do? Send them to: cjjune336@gmail.com
Hey! 2 Johnsons!
There’s a scene on The Lonely Guy with Steve Martin about 18 minutes into the film. I can’t tell if the trick is really done by him or not.
you should check out Brittania. there's a couple times they do magic tricks and pass it off as real magic. There's a scene where he has a white dove and a black dove and they switch heads on the dove. the patter is even magician like. it's fun
Hey you should see the now you see me 2 fight scene
Serpent And The Rainbow.. and older movie but it has a few good sleight of hand (real?) moments in it.
Great vid, but forgot Tom Cruise’s moves with the disk in Mission Imposible (forgot which one, I think MI2?)
Cool show you are great.💙💯💥😘 👍
Legend!! 2ND to none!! #bigtrickenergy
Now you see me and Now you see me 2 are just great movies, with the perfect blend of real and Hollywood.
Totally agree 👍
I remember an episode of the X-Files that had Ricky Jay guest star. "The Amazing Maleeni." The plot revolved around magicians being thieves/con artists. There might be a scene or two in that that might be worth reviewing.
Where did the sound go at 3:04? It comes back but it was odd
Copyright mutes certain parts sometimes
I know it’s not magic but looking at what Bruce Nolan does in Bruce Almighty could be interesting to see if you could do any of what he does with magic?
So the curtain scene, you can actually see him drop down and to the right when he tackles into it.
Do the magicians entrance exam scene and parts of the show as a whole like the dinner scene with Ilene it's the magicians t.v. show by syfy
There’s a card trick in The Mentalist at season 3 episode 5, right in the beginning of the episode. Rigsby asks for Jane to teach him a card trick. Isn’t sleight of hand but I think would be cool to react
You should review the famous magic trick from The Dark Knight, where the Joker makes a pencil disappear
That's not a magic trick, thats creative murder.
I saw that movie. I don't remember the Joker doing that
Now you see it is a Disney channel movie that came out in 2005. I thoroughly enjoyed it as an 8 year old lol.
What happened with the sound between 4:05 and 4:15?
I always thought Franco's "fireballs" were just flash paper?
Yo you can do ocean eleven Monte scene
You should check out the card trick Chris Pratt does on the Graham Norton Show!
Just for fun: the penn and teller scene from the west wing. Obviously it’s real, but it’s fun
In now you see me isn't he a criminal magician who may need to escape quickly? Yeah his house is tricked out. 90% of magic is planning, and he is on home turf. That flies. The second guy also had no idea what was being thrown at him. Ruffalo knew they were cards, so barely cared, but the other guy could perfectly reasonably be expecting a knife. I've never actually seen the film, but if the point is that Ruffalo's character is seeing through the illusions to a degree then contrasting it with a colleague who falls for them makes sense from a film making perspective.
You should review magic camp on disney Plus
Cool show Wes, keep them coming, Now we are in Lockdown can you make that disappear please.!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree. Then the CDC will lift the lockdown
Getting a card suddenly to the face thrown with enough force to bruise will probably cause you to flinch, and maybe throw yourself back.
As for the thrown fireballs, I think you missed what that was supposed to be. It's not fireballs projected from a device up the sleeve or whatever like in your example. Right before he starts throwing fireballs, he grabs a pile of paper "money." It's clearly meant to be flash paper fireballs. I'm still not sure it would work or look like that in real life, though, even with flash paper.
HA! Nora Dahrk in a Fed procedural! Brilliant!
Cool wall
Can I get you to react to Epic Rap Battles of History's Houdini vs Copperfield?
There's a tiny bit of practical magic and A TON of magical rhymes.
One thing I liked about "Now You See Me" was the implication that they were doing REALl magic and didn't know it.
They had to have known it.
Question: As someone who's been learning and doing magic for about 3 years (give or take) now, what's the benchmark I need to meet to start calling myself a magician?
I think it starts once you get paid to do magic
Nice!! guess I'm a magician then
I think Penn Jillette made an appearance in Modern family! Maybe that's a cool scene to watch!
