  • As we prepare for the Budget Vote Speech 2023 that takes place in Parliament tomorrow, let us recap some of the recent highlights of the Department.
Today we feature NSF beneficiary Mapei Tsaoane, who was born in a small town called QwaQwa, well known as Phuthaditjahaba. This aspiring young woman, holds an Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Technology from the Vaal University of Technology. Professionally, she is a qualified Medical Laboratory Technologist, specialising in Clinical Pathology. She is currently working for a Clinical Trial Research Unit at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in Pretoria.
During the period she received the NSF funding, hunger was no longer a part of her vocabulary. The NSF bursary provided more than just financial support; she also got access to free counselling if it happened that the students experience mental distress during their studies.
She would like to thank the NSF and DHET for honouring her with this bursary as it definitely alleviated her financial problems and motivated her to continue studying as she is currently a Postgraduate Diploma student at the University of Pretoria.
Our Minister Dr Blade Nzimande will deliver the budget vote speech on 24 May 2023 from 15:00-17:00 at the Good Hope Chambers in Parliament, Cape Town. It will be livestreamed on the Parliament and DHET's social media channels.
We hope you don't miss it….
