As someone who's been suffering from depersonalization for the past 8 years, I find it incredible that someone would try and legitimate their shitty behaviour because of it. Depersonalization is not "I don't know what I'm doing I'm confused so let me go out there and hurt people.". Depersonalization is a hellish nightmare you go through everyday where everything feels unreal, like you're stuck in a fucking dream. You get used to living with it, some days are better than others, some other days you just stay inside having anxiety all day long trying to keep the panic attacks at bay, and you can hardly justify not wanting to go out to your friends since most people don't believe it's actually possible for someone to go through this, so what's the point in telling them anyway ? They'll just say you're making shit up, which is also the reason you almost never look for help. It makes you fucking mad because you know damn well this is real but it just doesn't feel like it.
I know the struggle. Still, I'm not a douchebag who justifies mistreating other people because of what I'm going through. If you think you can stop giving a fuck because you suffer from this, you're not only a moron, you're a selfish, arrogant brat. Everyone goes through some tough shit and yet most of us still take responsability for our actions, quit trying to legitimate your terrible behaviour because "I've been dealing with stuff", we all have. I couldn't agree more, I'm someone with cptsd and borderline personality disorder and I honestly hate when people do bad things and blame it on their mental health. I have disassociation 95% of the time sometimes mild sometimes severe and I feel like nothing is real and my whole life has been fictional and I and many others like me don't do these kinds of things. People like this make people like me look like we just use and manipulate people for our own gains and it's just not true. These are examples of people who do bad things and pick and choose what condition or symptom caused the behaviour...
