Nice job on the Blinding Light. Don't own that one, but I see how it can be a nice supplement to the Apothecary White that I do own.
I do own the Apothecary White and the Xpress Templar White, but tbh, I haven't used the TW yet...

They do not have plans. I’ve mentioned this to them over and over. I asked if they could do a bundle on the web store. So yeah, not a box but a discount if you buy the missing 40. I’ll ask again and hope they’ll make one, and then they can tell me how many times it was purchased and I can say “I told you so”

I feel like blinding light really is fantastic and a truly light highlight with subtle shade tones. The original makes for a nice light grey though I.M.O.

Absolutely! The original is very useable, it’s just, not white to me, and I was always a little frustrated applying it and no matter what I did it always came out grey. In hindsight, I probably should have just added a bunch of medium and I bet it’d do what I want :-D but I love the new white, it’s a cooler shade, and almost the opposite of Apothecary white meaning we have lots of choices and variations when painting mainly white minis now! Whoohoo

Massive improvement, I think I still prefer the contrast paint straight out of the pot. I then think you thinned too much, but it gets the point across. I find contrast paint thinned a little gives me the result I want but now intetested in the new army painter white for different shadow options.

Thanks Mark. Yeah I still like the contras version but this is a similar but cold version. Very happy to own both and will definitely want each in different scenarios. Oh absolutely, that thinning was extreme! But sometimes you might want an almost white finish, but as you say gets the point across. Hit somewhere between no medium and that much and you’ll get a brightness to suite :) thanks for the feedback! Happy painting fella!

@@WatchItPaintIt I'd like to see them used as a one pass edge highlight, using the pastel as a bright off-white color match. I found with the 1.0, layering speed paints always went darker, like layering highlighters on paper. If the pastel colors can be used as brighter edge highlight, thats a big win for the whole set. With 1.0 paints, I re-drybrush and edge with a bright white after the first speed-paint layer, and then cover the white with another brighter speedpaint.

I kickstarted Instant colors and so far have been really unhappy with them. I found myself having to apply and reapply them so many times, that it really left me with an unhappy experience. So I took the plunge and bought the entire speedpaint 2.0 range (released at the end of this month) based on your, Stahley, and Dana Howl's videos. I'm just hoping it helps me clear up the sea of gray plastic sitting in all those CMON boxes that needs to be addressed.

I don’t wanna get you too excited, but I’ve painted more miniatures in the last few weeks of having the full set than I have in the last year :O I’m painting almost every evening and finishing between 1 and 10 minis a night :O yeah it’s only table top quality but my entire Zombicide Wulfsburg box got done in 3 evenings! Hope they help you clear up some grey :)

Zombie rainbow unicorn is amazing.
In using other types of "speedpaint" I do use a few of GW Contrast.
I think some of the newer Contrast paints aren't really...well contrast. But damn if I don't love their Iron Fist yellow. Flows beautifully and covers in one.
I like "normal painting" with contrast type paints as is, and how with the no reactivating of army paints I'm more happy with adding extra "normal" acrylics.
I'm still keeping all my 1.0 AP, because I quite like blending with them (although I can't brush varnish with them)

@@WatchItPaintIt I've been saving up for the complete set and I did think that might be the case with their yellow too. My only concern is some rumblings about 2.0 cracking in pooling which I'd love your honest opinion on (wouldn't really affect me, it's not the way I tend to use the paint)

I’d argue that I’ve painted most miniatures with Speedpaint 2.0 in the world (other than army painter) right now and it’s not happened to me. I need to find out more about when that’s happening! I’d managed to paint hundreds of minis without seeing reactivation either :D so I believe it happens, just not how I paint… let me look into it more

The big question is how many hours of shaking to get blinding light mixed compared to holy white after being left for a week and fully separated!

I found it quite quick to shake to be honest BUT it might be because I keep using it :-D I finally snapped and got a vortex mixer too which helps a lot

Everyone thinks white is so hard--it isn't. It's tricky, but only in the sense that you know what type of white you're painting--warm or cool white. Once you have a good triad of colors, white is a breeze. I have a fairly simple tutorial on my channel painting white with four colors (one of those is the undercoat color).
Personally, I think contrast and speed paint will never achieve a good white--even this just looks like a light grey with deep dark grey shadows. It works fine for a quick and dirty single coat, don't get me wrong. But doesn't make for a very convincing white IMHO.

But that blue shadows of blinding speed paint could be useful for ghosts

For my my ranking is:
1- contrast paint are the better but you need training with them as they are different kind of contrast even they share the name they're not the same ( maybe contrast wash, contrast base and real contrast would be the 3 different ones for me )
2 - vallejo xpress colors are nice and easy to use and share almost the same consistency and properties between them. Sadly their ultramate finish... It's not for me and make them not good for metalic colors.
3- Contrast paint 2.0: works ok this time and i bought some colors that i was missing from the other 2 brands to Test them. They works like express color in terms of consistency between colors and they are not ultramate so you can use them in metals. But sadly i made the mistake of buying 1.0 mega set. And I'm still pissed with army painter so they're my last option and i buy just colors that does not exist in other brands. This time they works . But i can't stop feeling they are laughing on the ppl who bought 1.0
4 - dipping inks: they're very good, 4x or 5x times bigger than any other bottle of "contrast paints" but its very rare to find them in stores so you have to buy them from the seller web which is not the better web in the world.
5- instant colors i got one bottle to test them. And they're like super diluted paints. You need lots of layers to get a result not as good as the weaker contrast.
6- contrast paints 1.0: they're bad as hell. They looks nice and them booom reactivation. Everything ruined. I don't recommend them at all.

It’s subjective but I just walked past my 4 models in the kitchen and I was like “woahhhh that one is SO much better than the others” I didn’t write which is which on them :D I thought it was the contrast but no was the Blinding Light one! The lighting in the room makes a huge difference

It’s so much more grey, I realise now adding medium probably pushes it closer to white, but we have a colder, straight out of the bottle white now, and a very light grey :-D I want to paint some black and white minis!

We have the video where I show all the colours, so you can look at them. Did you see that one? And I did a review where I took the paints to a shop to see what real people thought. We didn’t want to review them ourselves as we worked on them, and basically it will just be us saying we love them… but it’s biased as hell!

It was designed to be more grey in the initial launch of 23 colours. As Ben so smartly says in the video, it’s difficult to add pigment back in to the paint but it’s easier to take some away by thinning it. So, Holy White was designed to be a bit more versatile. When we added 66 new colours it made perfect sense to add another white option that was more transparent and Ben and Mike crushed it with Blinding Light!

Soulblight grey shade has replaced apothecary white for me… it is a cheat paint and helped me paint stormtroopers in record times
