    Only discovered your channel a few days ago after I bought a 125 (VanVan) and looked up videos on longer road trips and adventures. Great content and I love the Derbi speed and torque even if the mpg suffers.

    In Mainland China. This bike is made by ZS-Aprilia and we called it Aprilia terra150. Use the same Engine with Aprilia GPR150

    With the carb' it's good to use 98 octane E5 fuel, because of only 5% bio-ethanol within the fuel. Ethanol attracts water and since carbs are open systems, having a bike standing for a few weeks means having a water-sludge residue building up inside the carburator-reservoir, which could potentially clogg up the nozzle. During the winter-season it is best either to drain the carburator (drain screw?) or have alkalyte fuel high octane without bio-ethanol on your last filling (and driving, it should be sucked into the carburator). After that you can put your bike in winter-rest without bigger concerns.

    well, i did my homework right from the start and bought a malaguti dune as my first bike (almost the same as the derbi). 125 sportbike lol. more comfy, and a topcase doesnt look that dumb on it.

    Sir if you still talk to this man please tell him to look at cannabis oil...
    I beat stage 4 hodgkin's lymphoma cancer in under 3 months using cannabis oil and a full alkaline diet... I was when diagnosed given weeks to a month to live and the cannabis, alkaline diet and a positive mind let me beat this horrible disease in very quick time... I had 8 sessions of abvd chemotherapy as well as using cannabis and just fruit and veg...
    I genuinely hope he gets well soon and God bless you sir for explaining the story.... this had touched my heart...

    Nice to see you back. You went from the absolute top of the range to a euro 3 bike with choke. That is a strange one for me. Did the MT have such faults that you just couldn’t keep going with it? What were they? Just like you I need a bigger bike but can’t get a test for love nor money, so I got rear box for the cbf125, a taller windscreen, gas rear suspension and an inflatable seat cover. Mind you the gremlins haven’t stopped and my latest issue is electrical. Can learn plenty even on a bike without a choke. Anyway, best of luck with the derby.

      Good to hear you're still going with the CBF! Repairing and maintaining it as you go along!
      Yeah, for me, it's not about refinement. The Derbi is rare and has more character. It's 1 out of 2 in its class. Yes it has an auto choke. The only fault on the MT is the seating position being inadequate for longer journeys, as I've mentioned in a number of reviews.

    • @Labgorilla
      @Labgorilla Před 3 lety +2

      @@125ccbiker9 so the seating is so bad that you would never consider touring with the MT? Well. That’s really interesting. It’s probably the most expensive naked 125cc bike and it’s disappointing to hear how crap the seating position is. I also looked at the varadero. Such a gigantic bike. Just couldn’t get one within my price range. Anyway, best of luck and I’m looking forward to your new video adventures!

      @@Labgorilla In essence, yeah. If I kept the bike I would modify the seat like you said to make it comfortable.
      Another thing is I often ride with a heavy backpack which is painful for the man parts on the MT

    • @Labgorilla
      @Labgorilla Před 2 lety

      @@125ccbiker9 oh. A heavy backpack. Yeah, that isn’t a great thing to carry when on a bike. You sound like the kind of rider that could use a varadero. Or a litre bike with side panniers.

    Loool that fuel economy is the #1 reason I can't go back to a carbed bike. Well that and the slightly dodgy reliability. My old CBR125R used to make all the nice pops and crackles of a real sportsbike with similar economy, but none of the power.

    • @125ccbiker9
      @125ccbiker9  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah mate, what I meant to say was it is 40% less efficient than the MT, so with the same fuel capacity it'll do 160 miles rather than 240. But it does fly on the bigger roads nicely! I think with the carb it has more power than EFI which tends to run lean for Euro 4 purposes. Also different throttle characteristics.

    Great bike prob one of the most underated125 bikes made. The honda vara is the better bike, The carb vara are quicker and better topend that derbi with just a few cheap mods added. And the vara doesnt get ofected by wind and hills as much as derbi. Vara got More grunt! I no this cos i own both.. vara is much more reliable and better build quality. But the derbi is capable of more off road adventures, and does it better than the vara, so its swings and roundabouts..

    • @125ccbiker9
      @125ccbiker9  Před 3 lety

      That's very interesting to know. I made a few assumptions regarding the fact it's a V-twin, I thought a single, 6-speed would be quicker. In the countless reviews I've read and watched, the Varadero seemed only capable of around 60mph cruising speed and general lack of power to get going. I came close to test riding the Varadero and would still like to in the future.

      @@125ccbiker9 was it the fuel injected vara? Coz they wernt as fast as the twin carb version. My carb vara did 75 stock on a flat. With a dna filter, remove air restricter. 450mm Delkavic back box it goes off clock at 85. power is so much better.. its now 17.8 bhp now. With full exhaust ( spanish turbo brand)and carb rejets they push 23bhp. Ther's only so much you can do with that single pot single carb derbi engine.. had my vara nearly 17year still going strong..
