Abortion - That's Messed Up - Nouman Ali Khan

  • When I received an email from a woman saying that her husband wanted her to get an abortion due to financial problems, I was deeply disturbed. Sometimes, it’s a robber who is willing to take a human life for money. And sometimes, it’s parents. A new episode of "That's Messed Up" will be available every Monday.

    I was pregnant in November 2019 had an abortion in March 2020 I never ever wanted to have one I wanted to so much t have my baby I was so happy .. But when I told my bf he was nervous and upset made me have an abortion wasn’t there at all to support me when I went through so much physical and mental pain. I was so confused and felt like I made a decision without thinking.. I cried and cried and cried and was told by him to “get over that shit”. I’m still so very hurt and I feel so much resentment. I felt so alone and I pray that god forgives me because I feel so evil for what I did. I wish everyday to take it back.

      Cherry Blossom My question was asked to Nouman Ali Khan. But since you wrote your opinion about my comment, I would ask you several questions.
      1) You are calling it Islamic rule, so where can I find the verse in Quran about your statement, that a couple cannot stop reproduction permanently? 2) While birth control is not 100% effective, how come a couple MUST have an unprotected intercourse? 3) Why do you think if a child is a blessing for you, that it can be same to other people? 4) Parents must raise a child, since they gave them a birth, so if one doesn’t want to become a parent they will do their best to prevent having them. Hating someone and forcing yourself to love him/her doesn’t seem like a healthy solution, since the consequences can cause negative impacts on the psychology of both sides, maybe for you it’s normal? 5) Being single (unmarried) is something that normally muslims avoid since it can lead to zina, so are you supporting zina in this case? And lastly, you wouldn’t want if there were children unloved by their parents...

    Excellent Episode, however, I believe that that some individuals/people need to rethink about their strategic plan in their long term goals before implementing. If you can't achieve an explicit goal such has having a family or becoming rich then induce yourself with alternative and innovative idea/goals without affecting your final results. Don't start rescinding your goals just because you are unable to achieve them or in this case, taking care of the child. Think positive, think long term.

      What about the mothers though? The responsibility of the father’s actions should never be thrown at the child AND INCLUDING THE MOTHER. Why should a 12 year old girl be forced to go through 9 months of pregnancy and give birth and nurture a baby when she’s still a child herself? A child that has been robbed of her childhood and peace of mind and now she’ll forever have a reminder of that traumatic event, she’ll never recover mentally.

      @@rahafalkhaldi1897 Its a terrible thing for any woman or child to go through and she deserves all the love and support to help her heal and be comforted. But that CANNOT be achieved at the expense of deliberately killing her child, who is innocent. If we dont even give the rapist, the death sentence, yet how can we possibly consider death for the innocent child? Even in the most terrible of situations, we cannot kill innocent people, just because we think it will alleviate our ouwn trauma. There ARE other ways to help victims, heal from the violance of rape.
      Abortion is a violent act on an innocent child, and we cannot solve psycholigical trauma by inflicting violence and death on innnocent parties, especially if they are vulnerable children. We HAVE to do the right thing EVEN in the hardest of circumstances, because that is the mother's child too, dont forget.
      And many women often find healing and strength from their child. And if she cant, then she can at least give the child for adoption.
      There are also many women have been raped by the father of their children, and yet they love their children, no matter what, EVEN if they look JUST like the man who raped her. Should it be ok to kill those children as well, just because they remind the mother of their rapist father?

    Subhanallah I just had this discussion with a non Muslim friend of mine yesterday. She told me children are "expensive"! I was astonished when she said that. I've never ever thought of my child or anyone else's as an "expense". I told her I don't believe that, if God gives you the blessing of a child God will find a way for you to take care of them. It's so sad how the non Muslims think, I then realised they don't understand the concepts of Barakah and rizq. Times like that I truly wish that the whole world was Muslim.

    • @aimenfatima3653
      @aimenfatima3653 Před 8 lety +3

      I understand what you're saying. However I think by expensive, maybe your friend meant that it requires a person to be financially stable to provide a good means of a lifestyle in today's day. In many cases of poverty, parents have multiple children and cannot provide education, food, or any necessities. Rather some ppl believe it is best to have a few children and provide them with the best lifestyle. Also, I agree that aborting after a life is given is in a way wrong. Alongside, sex education should be something people must be aware about before intercourse. This way if they know they might have troubles raising children or providing, they don't need to take a life after, better to think and act before.

    • @lovethedeen7421
      @lovethedeen7421 Před 8 lety +2

      +Aimen Fatima I agree with you to a point regarding what my friend said. We don't live in a third world country where it's hard to provide for your kids, we live in Sydney and Alhamdulillah we are by the means. That's why I was astonished because she genuinely believes that two kids are expensive. Whereas a Muslim knows that's far from the case and Allah will give you. It totally explains why we are the only ones increasing the ummah! You very rarely see non Muslims in the west with more than 2 or 3 kids where as many Muslim families have 5 or 6 children Masha Allah. Also, here in Sydney the non Muslims like to spoil there kids and give them iPads and nintendos and every did they want. To me that's not giving your child the best life that's just teaching them to feed their nafs! Non Muslims have a different concept of what's good for a child I think, but I can't also generalise as I've seen Muslims do the very same thing!

    • @aimenfatima3653

      Lovethe Deen I agree :) But yes I understand what u mean,providing a good life for your children vs providing unnecessary materialistic things are 2 different things, hence the "expense" in one situation would obviously be more if you think you must raise your child with many material things. But in today's day parents don't want their children to feel short of anything which I guess is fine, but as a final point, I just think education on sex is important, ppl shouldn't regret children once they've entered this world. It's important to think about this before so the need to think or act upon decisions like abortion doesn't come across.

      there are many Muslims living and raising their children in poverty. I am not saying this to justify abortion, I am against abortion, we are not to decide who should live or who should die. But I wouldn't judge poeple who use contraception and delay having kids. If someone grew up in poverty they may be scared of same fate for their kids, it is totally understandable. I don't think that being Muslim or non-Muslim has anything to do with it.

    The point was soooo clear by Noman Ali Khan that the life of a child is more important than anything else and the interviewer idiotically ended a beautiful discussion by saying, "It's a woman's body and her choice". That is NOT what Noman was trying to establish. The phrase Her Body Her Choice is used by abortionists to justify abortions. Noman was stating totally opposite of abortion.

    Admins, please edit out the ending. The other brother said "it's her body, it's her choice". That goes against the entire video. If her choice was abortion? You see where that's problematic I'm sure. And even in this particular case, the sister is right, but not because it's her choice, but because her desire is on the same side as Allahs commandment. Again, that last line should be edited out please.

      +Zahra Beig The brother obviously didn't mean it in that way...the entire video was focusing on the Sister who wrote the email regarding being forced to have an abortion. Pay attention to the context first then the line "it's her body, it's her choice" makes sense. Her choice is not to abort which disagrees with her husband's choice. It's like saying that the verse "and kill them where ever you find them" from Baqarah is too violent/unislamic and must be removed even though you haven't looked at the context behind the verse.

    • @drkrstlmth
      @drkrstlmth Před 8 lety +9

      +Zahra Beig Agree with what others have said: the context makes all the difference. The question of the rights over a woman's body is an issue of fiqh. Over reacting to a single line of dialogue isn't going to shed light on anything. Instead, we need more knowledge and discussion; not less.

  • @nmm9580
    @nmm9580 Před 3 lety +2

    @Bayyinah Institute A quick, but very important note: the last comment said in the video is bluntly untrue. The guy in the video ended with "The husband doesn't get to tell her that. It's her body, it's her choice".
    This absolutely contradicts the entire 5 minutes of what the video was trying to convey. It's not an issue of husband Vs. wife or of who gets to decide on taking the life of this child. The Quranic verses are not directed to husband or wife; it's not his choice and it's not her choice either. The verses simply take us humans out of the equation and say that killing your child is a sin. It's not a "choice" and it's not a "property" to be owned and it's certainly not "my body". I know it was said at the end of the video, but please take that part out of the video as it certainly can be misleading.
    Peace be with everyone and may Allah guide us all to the straight path.

Sister will stand her ground but what if her husband ends up taking his frustration out on this child? Should she be ready to divorce? Then he says that the society should not penalise the children of single mums but the society does not want to know obviously. What should the woman do?

    Though the discussion is pertinent within the context of marriage, it fails to acknowledge that the majority of abortions amongst western muslim women are done as a result of pregnancy outside of marriage, predmoninately teenagers and girls in the early twenties who are engaging in sexual relations with men during the high school and college years. It is easy to frame the issue of abortion within the context of marriage or rape/abuse, but when it is consequence of actions from socially liberal youth who mentally and socially are simply not able to raise a child - the question of abortion becomes far more complicated.... That being said, the series is a wonderful effort! May Allah guide us.

      Kyle Ulrich That’s not surprising at all. Christians in the past were basically Muslims, they had a very clean and clear Bible, containing the words of Allah himself. Until falsification came, and most of the Bible’s words were changed by human beings. Some stayed, such as those of abortion, ones of homosexuality, and a little more. Really, there’s no consistent logic in today’s Bible. It’s truly heartbreaking. If you’re a Christian, we invite you to study Islam, and the Qur’an then try to relate it to Christianity and the Bible. You’ll find them to be very similar. The Bible, the book itself was mentioned in the Qur’an, 48. And He (Allah) will teach him [‘Iesa (Jesus)] the Book and Al-Hikmah (i.e. the Sunnah, the faultless speech of the Prophets, wisdom, etc.), (and) the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel). A side note, the Bible would be translated to the book of wisdom in the Arabic language. Just try to get deeper into your religion, and you’ll find so many illogical things.

What the Ustashi is saying is, it is not anyone's right to take a life of any humans however in this case he mentioned the woman's husband "he" to answer her question but it no ones rights. If you look at in the humanities law, the husband has no right to tell his wife to have abortion if she doesn't want but in Allah's shariah none of them has any right to do so.
