I still get fluid build up of serous sang under clear dressing a week out of skin flap tear on shin bone. The first one leaked out edge, so I replaced 6 days later, after a soak with epsom salts. I noticed C shaped flap had cloth material, and did not try to remove, but reapplied clear dressing, and noticed serous/sang build up, but as of now, not leaking out yet. Comments appreciated. I am in 70s, retired nurse, and skin tears have to be avoided, so i often use shin guards outdoors.

Hello, if there is a build-up of drainage under the dressing, I would suggest going to something more absorbent, as excess fluid will cause breakdown. An island dress may work depending on the amount of exudate or you may have to go to something more absorbent.

I just started as a Home Health nurse after being a hospital nurse for 10 years. We just consulted WOCN but now that’s me 😂 Anyway I wanted to get the images of the dry-wet chart when to use dressing and covering types in your videos. Is there a link for those? Thanks
