I almost had a flipping heart attack. The second you said this is a cactus bone I was like they have what!
Do you do commissions?
There was a bobcat on a 40ft saguaro like 10 years ago and idk if they know how they climbed up
One from Arizona a born-and-raised and I think that you hit it right on the head to at least pronounce Saguaro right
😅😊😅😊😊
Fun fact, they grow VERY slowly. In its first years or growth it takes TEN YEARS PER FOOT. Also their iconic arms only start growing after they are around 75 years old.
imagine getting arms for the first time right as you've retired
They live hundreds of years!
@@DustyHoney Yup! They are not the only plant here in the Sonoran desert that -love- live that long. The Creosote Bush lives almost like a fungus, it's roots grow under the ground and it sprouts up miles apart if it's big enough. They grow in large circles and can date back THOUSANDS of years.
@@caffinatedredpanda9964I never thought of a plant growing like a fungus
@@redmadness265 yeah. Here in the desert the ground gets REALLY hard past the sand. Sometimes it even builds up high amounts of calcium making it harder then some man made structures, we call it caliche (ka-lee-chi). That's why most homes here don't have basements.
"thousands of pounds of weight"
Cactus: "I'm not fat, it's just water weight"

But do not drink the water, if any, it would a years supply of sitting belly water. Hydration only comes from succulents if needed, and only some of them.
Nikacado ahh cactus
“I’m not fat I’m big boned”

“Their bones are their money” 😂
And that was the night the skeletons came alive
They came from under the ground and from all over
So are the worms...
“Up but not out”
They’ve never seen as much food as this, underground they only have half as much food as this.
The I Think You Should Leave reference was LEGENDARY
Right!? When he sung it I had to pause the video and dig deep into my brain to place it. So funny!
Holy crap, I just got that reference! I’ve watched it a bunch of times, I’m disappointed with myself for not realising
The bones are there money, and so are the worms
This is a family joke rn. Absolutely gelatinous
LEGENDARY
I stg this is my new favourite piece, just the novelty of it's enough to make me love it 😂🌵
The novelty & how cool the wood ended up looking make this an excellent choice for a fav piece so far!
@@JustinthetreesI think you should do Canada/Canadian states next when your finished with the USA.

As an Arizonan I think it's worth letting people know that it's actually illegal to damage Saguaros in any way because they only grow in Southern Arizona
Damage living ones that is. Simple difference but you are allowed to take ribs but not kill em
Ayee az gang. I know you can take em down but you gotta get some type of permit or permission
Actually if a cactus grew wild, it can be illegal to take the wood or ribs because they are habitat and useful materials for the ecological cycle.
@@eetoved1758 yes, but if there are certain conditions like they are going to become a hazard you can remove them or of course if it is on your property
@@jacktuell6977That's true. But you are supposed to get permits if it was an existing wild saguaro. Landscaped deliberately planted ones are different. @jacktuell6977
Arizonan here, so glad to see love going out to Saguaro ribs! There’s all sorts of things you can do with them, like make walking sticks out of the longer, narrower bits, carve things (like a map of Arizona) out of the thicker portions, or, as I’m doing right now, making props like canes and stuff out of various portions of them. Love to see AZ represented like this!
When I lived there, I had made this awesome sword that carried me from ages 6 to 10 lol. Smacked all sorts of thing with it- very durable
Humongous cactuses are perfect for self defense - if you know how to wield them
Don't try and wield a saguaro
dont listen to him, he's trying to make it easier for the demons to take your soul, use a saguaro
you’re haunting me… that must be it
Every time I see your comments there’s someone new saying you’re everywhere
guys as an arizonian i wield saguaros all the time against hobos
I prefer to throw chunks ofbPrickly Pear instead.
im actually so happy to see saguaro being used for arizona! im from there and have gotten rather used to them but i love bringing friends from out of state to see them and watching their jaws absolutely drop- they’re such incredible cacti
I'm going back for my annual vacation there and saguaros are my favorite. My grandmother recently had one planted in her backyard but I probably won't even get to see it grow in my lifetime it takes so long
Me too
It’s weird that most people haven’t witnessed hundreds if not thousands of cacti in one place- or even any at all. I’ve lived in Arizona my whole life, so it’s completely normal for me.
When we had a Korean exchange student at my home she tried to hug a teddy and we all freaked out lmao. Then my aunt from Iceland tried to do the same. I still can’t belive it’s not really normal everywhere else
As a Arizonan I’m glad I live in the country of illegals drugs guns and and racist white people…at least where I live in Arizona Phoenix is actually decent
Just to add, old cacti start to develop a woody base in a process called lignification and lignin is a main molecule in wood
As in Ligin deez nuts

@@shadowsoulless6227my balls?
As an Arizonaian you picked the perfect wood for us this is dope!
They’ll lock you up if you cut those puppies down without a permit.
I get into these rules on the episode!
There's huge issues with illegal cactus poaching all over the south states. South America had decimated their cactus populations and illegal aliens come and do it here all the same.
Moving, selling, shooting, in anyway abusing them will guarantee you get a number years in a concrete resort out in the middle of nowhere.
@@bobbailey4954Yeah, minimum 6 months and maximum of 10 years I do believe, don’t forget the Fine.
@FuhkCZcamssMom is this legit? Seriously? For a first timer with no criminal record i doubt they would see the inside of a cell. People get arrested for selling drugs and get out of it with probation and suspended sentences.i know from experience.
As a Canadian, this was the new thing I learned today… thanks dude!
Can I ask why you said you where Canadian?
@@cloudy929no cacti in canada i guess
@@cloudy929because people on the internet that aren’t from the USA think they’re unique/quirky if they’re from somewhere else. Scottish people are the worst for it, they put the 🏴 flag on every comment.
Even funner fact there’s a type of cactus that literally grows like leaves on a tree!
As a second Canadian, I agree, this is awesome.
I love this guy because his voice is relaxing, he teaches us facts, is funny, and seeing people cut wood is satisfying to me😊
The I Think You Should Leave reference is crazy 😂
Just learned about Cactii ribs today. Thank you
FINALLY! GOSH NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT HIS GRAMMAR!!

Been waiting for this one bro! From AZ born and raised🇺🇸
16/10 reference
I had to do a bunch of research on Arizona once. It turns out, that the state flower actually grows on the saguaro cactus. It is white and fuzzy and kind of looks like a daisy. But the saguaro cactus strictly grows in the South-west parts of Arizona and the North-west parts of Mexico. Very cool 😊
I've seen some in California near the Arizona border.
26 years old and I found out some cactus have wood in them… and I work for a pallet shop lol
“The bones are their money” 😂 gosh I was not expecting that reference
Usually I don't watch the full videos on other channels but these teasers have become a good way to get me watching the longer videos. By the end of the long video, I don't regret my decision. The videos are always so interesting and I learn a bunch! Great job!
Fun fact:
When a cactus grows bones, it's called "lignification"
Lignification happens mostly in trees, but it is the hardening of the xylem cells' walls to support the plants.
I didn't know there could be wood inside some species of cactus, well now I do. 🤙🏼
You don't know how long I've been waiting for this
The wood genuinely looks like a bird from certain angles, that's pretty cool
I have no clue how I saw a bird in this
And so are the wormssssss
I dont know why but i think if dude's house caught on Fire it will feel like a fire work show💀and imagine the smell of the different types of wood💀
Am I the only one that didn’t know that cacti got that big? That picture shocked me I thought they stopped at like shoulder night at the tallest.
Lots of other cacti make wood too! It's really cool and if you ever see a giant cacti (the type with many, many branching cactus pads), look near the base. If it's grown enough for this, you'll see a "trunk" where the old cactus pads combined and thickened to support the increased weight of the plant over time
Was today years old when i found out those cacti have wood in them. AND they look dope!
As a Born Again Arizonan, THANK YOUUUUU!!!
ITS BEAUTIFUL!!!
Try shining up some Mesquite...most beautiful you've ever seen...
As an Arizonan this makes me very happy
You should do the juniper for Utah!!!
he did !
I love this series so much
Arizonan here love Your videos and so happy to see you doing my state
I grew up in Tucson! Each saguaro can take up to 100 years before it begins to grow arms! They are beautiful and unique giants that only grow in Arizona. They can't exist outside of that specific environment.
Tucson > Phoenix!!!!
Well, not just in arizona! They only grow in the sonoran desert, that expands into mexico and southern arizona! ❤❤❤
@@tucuxi132why is that?
SO ARE THE WORMS
They pull your hair up but not out
That's so cool I had no idea you can get wood from cacti. Love actually learning new facts on CZcams
As an Arizonian, I was waiting to see what you would do for our state. Thanks!
Today, I learned something, but tonight, I will fact-check peer reviewed papers with sited sources.
This is so cool!! The wood looks so unique! Side note: I am once again submitting bald cypress as the FL candidate!
You're really onto something here! Seems obvious but I look forward to your content more than any. Thank you and please continue.
Always wondered how can cacti get so big while they are so soft inside. It's a really mind blowing fact for me that these big guys have wood in them. You got a sub here
This is such a creative peice of work it's incredible❤
The bones are the skeletons' money
In our world, bones equal dollars
That’s why they’re coming out tonight
To get their bones from you
The skeletons will pull your hair
Up, but not out
All they want is another chance at life
They’ve never seen so much food as this
Underground there’s half as much food as this
And the worms are their money
The bones are their dollars…
Bro I’m subscribing rn. I haven’t really been into trees before but seeing you carve and teach about different trees made me feel so interested in them 😭
This might be the coolest shit I've seen all year so far. Very intriguing. Keep it up my guy! 🙌
As an Arizonan I know quite a bit about saguaro but still have watched it about a thousand times
This just looks pumpkin carving on another level- I could never 🥲
of course, a cactus for az. theres no trees here anyway haha
Sadly, some will believe that...
You from az?
Lol ponderosa
Palo Verde
Mesquite
Some other tree
@Poosaycvm try any park near flagstaff, lol there's pine trees and so much more. Oh, and snow.
We also string lights on them for Christmas
It felt like bro was narrating my thoughts there for a bit😂
Thank you for finally doing Arizona
The only interesting thing that has ever been made about Arizona
Saguaro and Cholla skeletons both make very cool decor.
Learning something new today. Thanks!
Much love from Arizona lived here my whole life never new you could woodwork with these very cool
Having grown up in Arizona I legitimately didn’t realize other people don’t know about the cactus bones lol Saguaro ribs is definitely the perfect choice to represent Arizona though! Haven’t been back home in several years and I miss seeing the saguaros everywhere! Some of the wild ones form into almost human like shapes, and will look like they’re running or telling each other secrets! That always used to fascinate me as a kid. Sometimes I’d imagine they used to be people but were transformed…
I am watching this from Arizona and he is right! They are quite neat- also living for very long periods of time!
first time in italy rn and i just learned that cactuses could include wood sections. so cool.
This channel is super helpful and useful because I can make these things at school and has given me great ideas
I learned about cactus wood earlier this year from a professor who did work in Argentina before coming to teach at my university. He also does a lot of woodworking in his spare time. Apparently in some places in Argentina, cactus wood is very popular choice to use for furniture
That was such a cool idea to use Saguaro Cactus for Arizona!! Could you make Texas next?
Literally first time learning this, thanks!
"their bones are their money🎶" love it🤣🤣
I love that he's actually saying it correctly, I don't know how many times I heard people pronounce the "G" even though it's silent.
I've been waiting for so long!
"There bones are there money" 😂its the little things that make me laugh
This is awesome. I see you standing in front during presentation but could you give an image of the current project in your updates to see it all clearly?
Wow, you learn something new everyday, didn’t know that type of cactus grew wood
As someone from arizona, I can say I APPRECIATE THIS SO MUCH OML
Great looking piece of wood!!!
Now I wonder how a Saguaro cactus guitar body would look.
AZ yes! Been waiting for this one!
Facinating. You know your wood. So artistic. 😊😊😊
I'm from west Texas and have been to Arizona a lot during my life... never once had I ever heard cactus could have wood in them 🤯🤯🤯 crazy... how did I never hear that fact my whole life? 🙌 always informative but just blew my mind with that one
Wow, i didn’t know or anticipate any similar 🤩
On my trip to Arizona I saw these giant monster cacti just about everywhere. Found one growing inside an abandoned gas station.
Cool stuff.
( The UP has slipped down. Look at the shape of Lake Michigan for reference).
I can't wait to see the completed map. 😊
I knew so fast when i heard cactus wood, gotta love arizona man
Cutting that honestly seems really fun
Cool creative concept!
please make more things out of cactus wood
You did it well this is the perfect wood for Arizona
My grandma on my dads side used the ribs to make her mud house back in the 50s. No one lives there anymore but it still stands right outside my aunts house today
It is not often I scroll yt shorts and am like: "I actually just learned something and it was interesting"
Cactus Cartman: “HEY IM NOT FAT IM BIG BONED!”

I live in arizona and this is really cool
I love cactus skeletons and carry around a key chain gifted to me by local natives when I had visited Arizona

I’m impressed the you were able to pronounce Saguaro correctly.
I love this, went from trees to cactus
