    Yes, I do use magazine images thanks to you!!! I’m having a blast doing it too. I have a reason to go to the garage every single day making all those things you have taught us. Makes the embellishing sooo much easier. So, thank you so much Natasa for sharing your amazing talents with us. I think it’s marvelous. Linda (San Francisco Bay Area)

    Thanks, Natasha. My mind was clouded for years after the death of an alcoholic friend who claimed to do journaling. We found that it consisted of writing random musings on the back of grocery receipts for the most part. I have years' of fussy cut bits, etc., hanging around, and wonderful dies to cut out of watercolor experiments and such. You are inspiring me to use them for more than making cards. I'm 80, so I'd better get cracking. Appreciate.

    I just love your channel! I am a breast cancer survivor and artist. After cancer, I lost my job and have only been able to find part time work and my income has gone down drastically. Thanks to you, all my friends and family will be receiving an envelope junk journal from me for Christmas this year. I don't even need to go to a craft store, or spend a dime. I have all kinds of boxes full of doodads, whatnots, old cards, magazines, etc. PLUS, all these gifts will really mean something to the recipients...this is bringing joy back into my life!!! Bless you and bless you some more!!

    I have a very nice printer. I love the colors it produces in the images I want. But even though I am fortunate enough to have this luxury to work with I still think a journal is more real if it has things used from magazines, catalogs, old books etc. I have a huge selection of magazine pics and catalog pics of flowers. It seems as thought a treasure journal comes alive with these pics alongside the printable. Also I search for free papers with lines for writing and also those ledger papers and old invoices and receipts. Such fun. So I guess I incorporate the old and new, the printable and the printed older things and the old photos that show life so many years ago. Thank,you Natasha for the beauty you bring to the world. For the hard work put into these videos. And Thank you for the joy you bring so many hearts.

    I can remember cutting out things from magazines and flyers in the Sunday paper when I was a kid. I'd glue or tape them in a note book. I never understood why I did it (neither did anyone else) but I just liked working with the paper and seeing the pretty images. Thank you for understanding! 🙂

    Natasha, I love how you find beauty all around you. Reminds me of long ago out for a Sunday drive with my parents, my mother exclaimed "oh how beautiful!" I looked out my window where she was looking, it was only rock face. The road had been cut out of a mountain, no greenery at all, nothing but rock. Trying to see what she saw I began noticing all the subtile changes, the layers and variations, textures, designs. She was right, it was beautiful. One needs the eyes to receive it. You demonstrate that here, finding treasures that most would overlook. Thank you for uplifting my spirit.

    • @TreasureBooks
      @TreasureBooks  Před 4 lety +11

      Karen wow, thank you. You have just uplifted MY spirit with this wonderful story. It is true. I never used to see much beauty, but now I see it everywhere. First time I really looked at a tree was only a few years ago. And I cried tears of joy "seeing" a tree for the first time. We see trees all the time, I've probably seen millions of them, but until that moment, I never appreciated the true beauty of a simple little ol' tree. Looking back, it feels like I had some sort of a spiritual experience, but since then, I see things with different eyes. And if I'm in the right mindset I do see beauty everywhere. Thank you so much Karen.

    I appreciated this segment very much, Natasha. I also do not own a printer and therefore don't use digital downloads/kits. It makes building interesting and quality pages a bit more challenging when you only have the original copy of something! I also utilize thrift store books/magazines/catalogues in my journals. They don't typically have that "digital" everything matches look, but I also love this unique way of making journals.

    I had alot of card magazines and before I got rid of them, I spent a day cutting out the card if it was straight on and made around 80 cards for our church people to give to other members. Natasa, this is a great idea. Sometimes, I object to how shiny the magazine images are, so I use either matte medium (Gi Kerr's idea), or clear gesso over top of them. Then, the images have a more matte finish and don't appear as slick. It's not necessary, but I find I really prefer the matte look. Your journal looks so full and interesting. Thanks for showing us how. ~ Lisa

If you would consider another one similar to this, it would be appreciated if you'd spend more time finding images and creating the works of art as opposed to so much time showing how to use them in your journals. The only reason I say this is because I need a little help with my creativity in creating, more than how to use! I love that you showed which magazines to use. I used to have tons of cross stitch magazines, but never even thought to create little works of art using the cute images in them. I truly LOVE "something from nothing" type of crafting. Thank you for this video and I absolutely love your personal journal ! I guess you encouraged me to make some similar type of journal in which I could get a lot of joy like you say, playing around and trying things !! Perfect, and thanks for the idea ;-) Take care

    Thanks very much... I made a lot of 3D cards before I learned about Art (Treasure) Journals.
    I always saved the little examples, how to make them :-).
    Now I know what to do with them
    Kind regards from Holland

    I love your embellishments. I dont have a color printer either and I have hundreds of magazines so I cut and paste images also. I enjoyed your video! Thanks!

      @@TreasureBooks Yep. Now I have a couple inches of bits cut from catalogs and travel magazines. I'm going to have to graduate to a bigger box because I still have stuff coming in the mail! lol

    If you have a hobby lobby style store they have pamphlets hanging near products for free that you can take as examples to make. The pictures are great and the paper is heavier to cut out
