What it probably does is create noise but 180 degrees out of phase. It looks like you can control the amplitude so that eventually you hear the 180 degree phase shifted noise. At the proper amplitude or volume setting there should be a maximized noise cancellation.
As stated in the electroboom video there are so many mediums that the sound wave travels and so many surfaces that are vibrating and then reverberant field, which makes such a small device almost imposible to work and compansate for everything.
One thing electric boom didn’t mention is that it has a volume. That defeats the basics in active noise canceling. It should be able to determine the noise level, and playa noise that cancels it at the same volume level. So auto volume for the noise canceling. Doesn’t look like the idea went as planned.
Good point. This was my first experience with something that was supposed to be "noise cancelling" so I really didn't know what to expect, nor do I understand the technical parts like you guys probably do.
Well it will be interesting to see if they say it’s a defective unit or not. Still good videos and testing from you for what they claimed it should do. Thanks for doing the videos. I know he kept his video fairly simple with one tone, their can be much more to it. I think my boss QC20 ear buds have 2 or 3 mics in each ear alone to analyze and determine the outside noise and counter match it. They will produce the counter noise at a level to match it within reason not to damage my ears, but also play music at a separate volume in the mix tricking my ears into thinking the music volume is staying the same. Then a lot of software analyzing and algorithms for what they do. It’s a hard thing to do correctly. But if you decide to return it and still want something to actively cancel noise I highly recommend the QC20 ear buds, or another quite comfort over the ears that does active with a little passive together. I’ve owned both, and tested both. Also tried others and so far I don’t think anyone has done it better then Bose in a headset. Good luck.
It's not working so disappointing. This thing is obviously just a Bluetooth speaker. I can do white noise with my smartphone and any Bluetooth speaker. If it had worked as advertised I would have paid double the price without a blink.
So far I agree with you. I am curious to know whether or not Celestial Tribe / Muzo will come up with firmware & software updates that will get those claimed features to work. Separately, I did do a test where I paired my phone to my JBL Flip3, and then used the Muzo App to stream it's Sleep Mode soundscapes to the Flip3. That actually worked well, and the sounds on the JBL sounded great. Of course, I could probably just as easily find a White Noise app in the Play Store and do the exact same thing :)
Mikel S I hope an update can fix it but to be honest it looks like the hardware is not capable of doing it, or worst just not existing inside. Sooner or later an expert is going to open a muzo and then we will know the truth.
Nitro - Agreed. I'd crack open mine, but I really don't know electronics enough to assess the components. Maybe I can find someone here in Southern California that is an electronics expert, and maybe we can do a breakdown video.
Lolol, why you guys believe muzo will actually work? What if i tell you guys im selling a laserpointer pen which turn sand into 24 carat gold! Anyone interested? =D lol
Can you please test Serenity Mode on a closed window, to see if it's able to cancel out the street noise? I think it will be the main use case for many people, and thanks for the videos.
It's either increasing the stiffness of the door by inducing sub audible vibration increasing sound reflected, or creating white noise raising the detectable noise ceiling. nothing to do with noise cancelling.
Thank you for all videos about this device! I have purchased one, but cannot make it start working. Seems, that it is malfunctioning or I am doing something wrong. I cannot retrieve any sounds from it, even if I am connecting my phone via AUX cable. Were such cases before? Shall I return it or someone could help me to make it work?
i have the best sound dampening device ever! it's called studio foam.. it requires no batteries, just some physical effort and the willingness to make the room you use it in look like an asylum..
I saw this link in the related videos after watching ElectroBoom's test of this. Pretty sad when a company will Crowdfund a project to cover the losses of their failed prototype.
I think that they don’t know but it belongs on the outer wall. Like it’s meant to be something that looks like a door bell that you turn on when you walk into and enter your house.
I really wanna bought this when I saw the commercial on CZcams , it’s very attractive, but in your video that sounds doesn’t work at all. I was living with my family in the apartment, my room was nearby the living room , same situation as you. How do you feel about the muzo? Should i bought this?!
Yeah, that TPE is VERY sticky. I'd recommend using a credit card, driver's license/id, or some other similar card to slide in between the TPE & window. I put the Muzo on my wall one time for testing, and it pulled off the paint when I removed it :(
I used to have active noise-canceling hearprotectors from Peltor that worked pretty ok. This Muze seems to be a scam. Edit: they did not make everything silent, but if there was a loud bang you could hardly hear it, but if someone talked you could hear that person fine.
Noise cancelling headphone create sound waves that are out of phase with the sound waves that the built in MICs pick up resulting in the sound waves cancelling each other out. This is only possible if the environment in which you are doing this is very controlled and tightly defined - in this case the space inside your headphones that are covering your ears (or in the case of ear buds the space in your ear between the buds and your ear drum). Trying to achieve this in a room is so difficult to be borderline impossible especially with such a small speaker/device. It just can't work - physics won't allow it.
Hush was acquired by Bose, and they've just launched some Noise-masking earbuds. Check it out. www.indiegogo.com/projects/bose-noise-masking-sleepbuds-sleep-health
It's noise-masking, not active noise cancelling, though. I'd love to have active noise cancelling wireless earplugs that I could use to sleep. Headphones don't do the trick as, like many people, I lie on the side, but all we need is active noise cancelling wireless earphones.
Yeah, that would be amazing if they were noise cancelling. I originally bought HUSH for my wife, because she has trouble sleeping, but they didn't work well, were buggy, and they weren't comfortable enough for her. I am very curious about these new noise masking "sleep" earbuds from Bose, because I do sleep well with white noise, and they look like a pretty small form factor with a smart design. While not noise cancelling, I may even try something like the DreamPad (a white noise/vibration pillow).
muzo? you can't -- it was part of a crowdfunding campaign on kickstarter and indiegogo. you can learn more by viewing all of my muzo videos and reading through the comments.
Product never delivered. No replies to Emails. Hands off this if you can. Any class action getting organized as I can see we have quite some dissappointed users.
It creates additional noise instead of cancelling noise
What it probably does is create noise but 180 degrees out of phase. It looks like you can control the amplitude so that eventually you hear the 180 degree phase shifted noise. At the proper amplitude or volume setting there should be a maximized noise cancellation.
The only thing it negated was the cash in your wallet

@all -- I'm sending @electroBOOM my Muzo so he can test it as well. Checkout his YT channel!

oh! It is possible to access from PC !!
How do you access Muzo from a PC? Do you just connect via Bluetooth, and send music to it?
no. link...! On the mobile, the link was not connected.
But it is connected on PC.
I'm sorry to confuse you ...

Thank you for the review, saving us some money.
Glad I could help!
Any idear for alternatives? I have a nice but unfortunately loud room (traffic noise)
186 likes, 35 dislikes... Are people disliking this because they don't like Muzo? That's not what the dislike button is for!

Definitely plan to do that test, so stay tuned.
The ad with the man barking was so funny lmao
The only reason this doesn't work as a noise cancellation device is because it is physically impossible.
It's either increasing the stiffness of the door by inducing sub audible vibration increasing sound reflected, or creating white noise raising the detectable noise ceiling. nothing to do with noise cancelling.
how to purchase it. I really need it.
I do like that angry octopussy above the Muzo ;)
Thanks, I was going to buy one, instead I’ll get a water fountain !
Water fountain would be much nicer IMO :)
Is seems it's only noise masking by other noise.
Correct. The noise cancellation function (Serenity Mode) doesn't seem to be working in my test cases so far.
The Full Bridge Rectifier brought me here.
That muzo is hissing louder then your tv 😳

I think it was designed for only glass services from what it looks like from the advertisement trailer
on the top, Drunk octopus wants to fight!!

only make the condition worse by introducing more noise and increase the sound pressure
