    Very nice breakdown and it's cool to see Brits getting into the NFL and really take it in. You could tell Bryce's confidence this game was shot as this was the tail end of season. A good game that showed flashes of what he can really do were the Greenbay game and the 2nd falcons game. I REALLY think with Ashawn Robinson and Damien Lewis, our oline will be much improved. I know Austin has some experience at center but will be interesting to see. From the pieces Canales has put together the offense actually has an identity now. And coach Canales was very clear on his vision for Bryce. Control the line of scrimmage so Bryce can fire that ball out of there like a rocket. Overall I like the moves in FA and draft and ready to see some camp footage of them meshing. Really ready for this offense to come together.

    Gotta be honest. Watching a Brit breakdown NFL is a bit weird, but overall, it was a good video. Bryce didn't get even close to fair shot his rookie year. The offensive line and lack of weapons bolster about 90% of the blame here. You can look back at film and see just how much he was pressured over and over and over again. Hard to make accurate throws when you're running for your life. Now that the O line is beefed up and he has more quality options to throw to, we should see improvement. This will be a defining season for Bryce.

  • @Are_Eye_Gee_Bee_Why
    @Are_Eye_Gee_Bee_Why Před 23 dny

    Good breakdown, a lot of great analysis. One thing I didn't see you mention too often was play progression, which has a significant impact on play success against certain coverages. Specifically with the play around 15:00, the quick slant where he doesn't throw it to Thielen. I agreed with your initial assessment that he should have thrown it, but watching the endzone view, my opinion changed. As soon as the ball is snapped, he isn't even looking in Thielen's direction which makes me think the progression was Slot, then TE, but the slot was a deep seam route which takes time to develop and was bracketed by the LBer and safeties so it was never really an option, and then the TE got blown up at the top of his in route so that wasn't happening, and by that time the pass rush got to him so he had to bail. So the question to me becomes did Bryce run the play as designed, and if so, should he have seen that Thielen would have come open quickly against that coverage pre-snap and changed his progression and or did he have the autonomy to make that call? That's where I think experience comes with extended play time and getting more snaps and exposure to NFL defenses.
    I do agree that a lot of it is confidence though. With the play around 19:00, you mentioned you didn't know the progression but he should have thrown the ball to Mingo near the sideline and I agree. Looking at the endzone view, he came off that read so damn quickly, and to me that one looked like he was rushing through his progressions trying to find someone open right then before he got hit. If he had the confidence in his line, he could have calmly looked the safety off then delivered the ball to Mingo, but he was terrified at that point in the season.
    No argument from his footwork needing to improve, it was bad all season, but it was a perfect storm of terrible play design, bad play calling, bad receivers, bad blocking, and bad footwork all season leading to some really really bad football.

    Bryce Young had over 8,200 yards in his two years starting in college, with 79TDs and 12INTs. His passer rating over those two years was over 160 QB efficiency rating. From what I read, last year, Bryce Young had almost the worst pass protection in the league, and the center was graded the worst in the league. The lack of protection obviously has B Young second guessing himself. He's like a boxer who got KOed in sparring a few times... he's in his own head now. But with WRs who get open faster, more, more separation, with better protection, why couldn't he do what he did in college? He did that 160+ efficiency with 8,200 yards and 79TD with few INTs against the best schools in the country... WITH a good team around him.

      Really think he could turn it around with Dave Canales this year. Like you say, far better receivers, both Diontae and Legette should be high impact, and the offense line was abysmal.

      @@AlexVenuse It's one season and his ROOKIE season at that. Bryce is a baller. He might be small, but the kid is mentally tougher and definitely smarter than probably 90% of the rest of the league. My argument is, he's not in his head at all. He knows what he is capable of and all he needs is the right tools (i.e. players) surrounding him to prove his worth and prove that he can execute. This isn't a matter of IF, it's a matter of WHEN for him.

Jonathan Brooks, who started at Texas with Sanders, starting in Caroina together. Thielen still there. Mingo always projected as a big slot, so maybe he starts to thrive as a big slot. I think they give him an extra... say... half second, on average, and start out asking simple things, and build confidence from there. B Young IS smart, but the mental obstacles don't shy away from smart people, sometimes it's worse because they're trying too hard to fix it... i.e. don't throw to that open man because he threw a pick doing that the previous week when the route got jumped.

  • @jasonjcasillas
    @jasonjcasillas Před 19 dny

    here is some feedback that I hope helps you a little bit more on the X and Os portion of the game.
    The concept of the play at the 6 min mark is to get the safety out of position, the Panthers ran this variation of the Dagger concept pretty much all year. The play has 3 routes designed to beat coverage types + an audibled hot route.
    - AT's route is to pull a zone player out of position to open up the in that Mingo is running behind him. It also gives the QB a quick read whether it's man or zone
    - Mingo is running a man beating IN route in a one on one situation
    - Chark is running a skinny post in case the safety jumps the Mingo route and he will be open over the top
    - Sulli is audibled because it's island coverage on the boundary on a third down play.
    Your content would be helpful if it leaned more into the tacticals of the Xs and Os. Also, it appears that you missed that Sulli's facemask was grabbed at the top of the route (and so did the refs). Lastly, Bryce did not stare down his receiver here. The boundary secondary player had his back to Bryce the entirety of the throw. It is a comeback throw to a one on one situation and that is not a moment where a corner is going to get their eyes in the backfield since the player at and up the boundary. Staring down a reciever mainly pertains to when a player not on assignment breaks on the route and causing a break up or turnover.
    This play would not likely be in your highlight video if the refs called the DPI correctly.
    Hope this helps you

The biggest thing an nfl offense can do for a rookie qb is create a playbook with things that they know from college. We did none of that. He had too many people in his ear and wasn’t getting any coaching. Hard to do for any rookie, let alone a qb. The only good film you’ll see on Bryce last year that proves he can be successful is the Green Bay game. • @coryk7859
      @coryk7859 Před 12 dny

      Also on the Theilan slant route watch Bryce’s eyes/helmet. He is reading the safety of the snap like he’s supposed to. Adam wasn’t his first read for the play design, so i disagree that it was his height that made him miss it, wasn’t supposed to be his first read. That being said a veteran QB would be able to read pre-snap that it’s man with an extra rusher and know that Theilen (however it’s spelled) would win the inside slant. So I’d chalk it up to more play design and pre snap recognition/lack of experience than any physical lacking

    @13:11 "Adam thielen is wide open but Bryce just throw the football"
    Sir as a Carolina Panthers fan I will warn you.
    When you point out open wide receivers, there are Bryce young defenders that appear shouting their ritualistic "he had no open receivers"

    • @walter9243
      @walter9243 Před 24 dny +1

      You know people tend to exaggerate things right? These receivers were open at the lowest rate in the league, doesn't mean at times they weren't open. Bryce needs to make those throws when his receivers are open, but there were also times in which his receivers literally weren't open and Bryce had to check it down, or throw it away. At 6:07, his receiver barely has separation, and it's almost a pick 6. Bryce is at fault for staring him down, but his receivers on the right are blanketed, and the one targeted barely has separation.
      Just like "Bryce haters" talk about Bryce as if he threw 50 picks, is the same way "Bryce young defenders" talk about the receivers as if they are NEVER open

    • @dynastyfamily00

      @@walter9243 Genuine question here.
      What's the difference between being "open at a high rate" and not having the ball thrown? Vs being "open at a low rate" and not having the ball thrown?

    • @walter9243
      @walter9243 Před 23 dny

      @dynastyfamily00 The difference is between 6:07 (without throwing the ball) and 13:11. Not even the Giants and Patriots with how bad their offenses were gave me head scratches like the Panthers. The Panthers were a different kind of bad. They were so bad, it was impressive.

    • @dynastyfamily00
      @dynastyfamily00 Před 23 dny

      @@walter9243 So the difference is Bryce staring down one and only one route then tossing the ball to whoever is around that area (even the DB)?

    So clearly I respect the video for showing his bad parts but how are you gonna open the video with “stop the hate” then only show “bad” clips. I watched Bryce all year. He made several shitty throws/int’s. He couldn’t throw deep to save his life. But I promise you, none of anything is on him from last year.. no seperation from wrs and the worst blocking ever. Not to mention running the same schemed plays over and over..

    Good breakdown. So far, Bryce Young has a been a major dissappointment. It looks like he is too small, too weak, too indecisive and not smart enough to make it in the NFL. Terrible pick for Carolina. I believe both Drake Maye and JJ Mccarthy could flop in the same way, but because of bad footwork and inaccuracy as well as poor decision making. You should do this kind of breakdown on Penix, the best passer in CFB in 2023. Also Jayden Daniels.

    Bruce could see on the play when the guy is running a slant. The WR isn’t looking for the ball though. It would be different if he flashed his face or anything like that but he’s still digging trying to finish the route. Also if this wasn’t about trying make Bryce look bad why are you doing this on one of his worst games of the year. Why not break down the packers game that they just ran out of time on

    They started to break Bryce Young once he realized he wasn’t gonna get more than 1.5 seconds to throw the ball 3/4 of the time. Really upsetting to see such a great brilliant talent lose his cool and confidence because of a rookie season like this. Hopefully this gets patched up this season.

Now I remember at the time wanting him to run for the first down because Hubbard does have a pair of stone hands, and as he got too close to Hubbard he could’ve gone downfield since the corner did come up.

    The play at 14:52, you need to do a better job of reading the clues to understand what is really happening. He couldn’t just throw 1. Because he is not in the position to throw it (he is parallel to the line of scrimmage. And 2. He’s not looking in that direction (follow the helmet stripes…That play is part on Bryce (footwork) and structure of the play. If it was going to be a one step and throw route his footwork would have been quicker (something he has to work on in general)

      @@notthatguy4062 disagree. Some were but some were ridiculous like the screen pass he said Bryce panicked on.
      He didn’t even know it was a screen which called for BY to quickly throw. New Gen players don’t set their feet on quick throw.
      That throw to Mingo was not on BY either. There was a LB in the path if he threw right at Mingo. He threw to a spit to lead Mingo who didn’t get to his spot on time.

    You were frustrated with Bryce, I think all trust in his protection was gone, and I ended this video more frustrated with the receiving corps or the receivers coach. You showed guys possibly quitting on routes, poor spacing on routes, dropped passes, guys falling down on routes, a lack of blocking (so either Chark didn’t know the play or didn’t know what he was supposed to do on the play).

    @stevencarver-fd8ii Před 24 dny

    12:53 There is a difference in no longer believing in yourself and not trusting your offensive line, which he had no reason to.
    Also a little bit earlier you went off on Bryce for a lack of composure on a wide receiver screen play that was blown up as though Bryce didn’t allow the play to develop before throwing the ball. But it was blown up because of an unblocked defender. You did admit that later, but Bryce had nothing to do with the failure of that play.

    You asked for feedback so that’s why it’s my 3rd post…At 16:25 Bryce’s footwork can be better, but it’s not the problem. I see a QB throwing with anticipation and Ian Thomas not running his route like he is getting the ball. Look at when Bryce starts throwing (16:28) if Ian Thomas runs the route the way a good player should the pass looks more accurate.
