I am a Carlton supporter. I feel for Harley Reid though I hope he is ok the media landscape is definitely going to he on his case now particularly Sam McClure and Kane Cornes.
V head is the worst, Barrett can't get anything right on Hawthorn, there's rookie journos who get more leaks than he does.
It would be great if you guys could put timestamps on your longer videos like SEN and Triple M do. Sorry gents but just not going to watch the full video most weeks, especially when there is so much other footy media to consume. Time is precious to most of us.

Spot on re the Brownlow. The amount of rule changes and soft suspensions in the last five years at least calls the integrity of the award into question.
Reid won't be the first Champ not to receive the rising star, it happened to the Bont as well. He will be fine as he will challenge for bigger and better awards going forward.

It should not be two weeks, I think a week absolutely maximum. Glad the eagles are challenging and will probably get downgraded. The bigger issue is that Harley was well manhandled particularly after half time and that high tackle over the boundary line was outrageous that it wasn’t even a free kick
I thought that Harley copped a few high tackles in the second half and they weren't paid. I thought that got his nose out of joint (figuratively, I'm not sure if literally). I see this as a great lesson for him. Good to learn it in your first year. 2 weeks seemed a bit long. Talking about taggers, it reminds me of Cuzzy early on his career when Mick Malthouse allowed Libertore to run with him (and pinch, scratch etc...). Many people criticised Mick's coaching at the time. But I thought that Cuzzy never would have got a tagger like that again, and he copped it as an 18/19 year old. Learn the lesson. But Harley just showed how strong he actually is. He'll need to learn to consider his own strength. I find it worse when I see guy pin players arms and drive them into the ground, risking neck and collarbone injuries.
The Match Review Panel needs to be scrapped and completely replaced with another system. Harley Reid gets two weeks for making a clean tackle, which was not a double-action, and brings the guy down flat on his back without high contact and without being in the back…but gets two weeks because the Saints players was negligent in protecting his head. Tucking your chin in is a basic fundamental move in protecting yourself when being brought to the ground. And it’s not like he wasn’t expecting to be tackled.
Then on the other hand, we have Maynard smash Brayshaw’s head into oblivion and countless players being kneed violently in the back of the head- the most dangerous part of the skull- when players are taking a speccie…and the MRP doesn’t give a shit.
The MRP is a farce and should be abolished.
Schofield has very evasive eyes. I’ve always love Skeeter though.

Bloods supporter. Really dislike Eagles. There was no sling or double action. The positioning of Reid caused him to pull the player down. Should not be suspended. By the way Schofield is the best on the hoof commentator going around and also kudos for punching Reiwoldt.
I agree that Freo don’t need to pay out the nose for a big KF. Amiss, JT, and Dogga are all 21 and younger! In two years they’ll be top 3 in the comp.
Ginni whenever he's near the ball or gets a shot by boundary all the kids rush to the gate to see him, haven't really seen that at the games since Rioli really tbf.

The Eagles now that key players are back from long term injuries is in combo with a number of excellent prospects looks top notch! There is no need to recruit beyond the enormous pool of talent at their disposal.
Let's not forget that Ryan, Culley, Yeo, Sheed, and the new ruckman have all recently returned from long term injuries most requiring surgery. Add the development of huge talent like Harry Edwards , Jack Williams, Maric, Ginbey, and of course Read and now Hutchinson is a kaleidoscope of potential. Mix that with Kelly Gaff Hunt Barass McGovern Duggan Waterman Darling Petrachelli Cripps and so on is a outrageously good list.

Surprised Harley Reed doesn't qualify as a "good bloke" like Charlie Cameron.
I think Harley Reid would have been fine, but was the hand gripping the back of the jumper, dragging and causing head contact to the ground. It's 1-2 weeks suspension sadly I think.

If u have a ball you should be focusing on how u land .
This should have been a holding the ball, immediately. If u get penalised for holding the ball players will put more effort into releasing the ball and using their hands to land better.
The problem with a sling tackle is you can guarantee the safety of the person being tackled.
Focus on holding the ball, and this sort of tackle issue would not be an issue.
If you take on a player and get tackled that should be an immediate holding the ball
Barrass is an absolute fuckin lock 🔒, I’ve always been a defender fan ever since wirra and jackovich and if anything, I’m glad eagles have had some fantastic backline lockdowns over the years

@@felixlersha King is applying a policy to an actual incident. I am applying the rule. Current climate is irrelevant to the application of a rule. There was no sling or double movement. The need to eliminate concussions from the game is an important policy but cant and shouldnt determine the penalty for an act on the field. That is done by rules. By the way you werent at the MCG in 2006 when the cheating Eagles won a GF on the gear? I was. Despicable club.

Wish I got a better seat as I went with standing room rather than pay for a scalper seat on the wing. At least was at the end near the "Leo Barry You STAR!!!" moment although couldn't hear the siren it was absolute pandemonium. :)
A tackle doesn't have to be a sling or double motion to attract weeks in 2024. Any tackle that is deemed reckless and results in significant impact to the head hitting the turf will you get you suspended. We've seen how concussion has prematurely ended careers like Angus Brayshaw and our own Paddy McCartin. If Tommy Mac cops another major knock to the head that could be the end of his career too. The head is sacrosanct in 2024 so players have to adjust. Reid could have just locked him up. Bringing him forcefully to ground you are risking weeks just like bumps to the torso that end up connecting accidentally with the head. Too bad says the MRO.

You get run down by a guy while you’re trying to kick the ball and don’t kick it because your tackled and it gets call play on because the ball came out in the tackle. The fuck is that bullshit? If you don’t handball or kick the football in anyway and you loose possession of the ball then that’s illegal disposal and a free for the oppo team. It never gets paid anymore when it literally is breaking the rules for getting rid of the pill
But it's not breaking the rules. Below is the extract from the rules. What you've described fits perfectly into the last section around avoidance of doubt.
18.6.3 Free Kicks - Holding the Ball: Incorrect Disposal
Where a Player in Possession of the Football has not had Prior Opportunity, a field Umpire shall award a Free Kick if that Player elects to Incorrectly Dispose of the football when Legally Tackled.
For the avoidance of doubt, a Player does not elect to Incorrectly Dispose of the football when:
(a) The Player genuinely attempts to Correctly Dispose of the football;
(b) the Legal Tackle causes the football to be dislodged from the Player’s possession.
Harley Reid should already be ineligible for the Rising Star award, kid is already a star. AFL gone so soft. Weak.

The change of interpretation of holding the ball was done purely due to the pressure you and other content creators beyond the conglomerate news media company's. More you collab with others you can control the narrative and prevent our game from going down the shitter
Harley has been built up to the point where he is now being considered above the law. Simply, he's not and deserves a 2 week suspension. The media should get off his back and let him develop normally.

We all want consistency, bar Charlie Cameron everyone else has received 1 week, I think that is a fair penalty for the worse of the sling tackles, and Harley Reid smashed him.
