    A quick comparison of two 'budget' drones from Holy Stone & RUKO with a back to back filming test. Which do you think is better ? Or would you just splash the extra cash and buy a top end alternative like the DJI Mini 3 Pro?

    yea, i think i’d be packing the roku too. Perhaps it was the YT compression or vibrations or whatever, but there definitely were some strange colour shifts on the holy stone at times (although perhaps that will be fixed in a later firmware update).

    One thing to note on this comparison is that this is the old style Ruko F11 GIM 2. I had one and the controller died after 9 months. I had purchased the Asurion Warranty when I bought the F11 on Amazon. I contacted them, and I sent it in. They could not repair it, and so they returned my purchase price.
    On Amazon, the F11 was still the same price, $367. Since I had bought extra batteries, I bought another one.
    Uh, Guys, this is a totally different animal, think the original was a 1.0, well this is like a 5.0.
    Rather than a blackish color, the case is grey tweed. When I got the original F11, I picked up the controller and it felt light and cheap, as did the controls. You can immediately feel that this is a quality build. The control knobs, rather than always being there, are now removable and store in the base of the controller. The wing antennas are gone and replaced by a block antenna that extends out of the body. The antenna is also the phone holder and they did it right, oh how it holds your phone.
    Also gone is the need for a wifi connection for the phone. Now, when you extend the antenna, inside is a USB-C cable that directly connects to your phone. Simple and Sweet.
    The one thing that I hated about the original was that the display was difficult to see in bright daylight, no surprise. Well, I don't know what they did but the new display is bright and absolutely readable.
    The new F11 is slightly, but noticeably, larger than the original. I had taken my old photography backpack, pulled out the inserts, installed pinchable foam rubber, and made a custom drone pack with all my batteries, and everything else I needed for a days outing. When I installed the new F11, I could tell that it was larger and heavier.
    Oh, and I really like this, when you install the new sd card, it automatically formats it for you.
    Andrew, sorry Man, but this comparison is obsolete, like the original F11.
    Cheers 🍷

      i'd highly encourage you to find more video reviews of both drones. This video does the HS a disservice. Not to say it was intentional or the fault of the creator by any means, there's just something definitely wrong with the camera on his test sample. Unless he accidently got the SD cards messed up and swapped the footage 😂 I kid. Regardless, considering that in all reality the HS is actually half the price of the Ruko, sometimes as low as $200 US, AND it produces higher quality video footage in 95% of the other CZcams reviews of these two drones, i'd definitely do some more research before throwing away $460 on a Ruko when you could instead get the HS, and 3 spare batteries for that price. AlienDrone and Captain Drone both have very good review videos of both drones, and after watching those videos, you'll more than likely change your mind.

    I found exactly the same with my Holy Stone. Footage looks washed out. No doubt you could colour grade it after but may look over coloured. I'm surprised the 720g only has one battery and doesn't download the footage to your phone. The 720e I had does both although its the same price as the g so probably to keep the g pricing competitive. Mine should be here next week and I too was going to do a side by side comparison. 😂

      I did notice some of the same vibrations/jello but it didn't seem SUPER noticable. I think a big issue with the poor color gradiant of your footage was also the fact that the camera simply doesnt pull in enough light. My footage looks like garbage when its cloudy out, but evening, facing the sunset, it seems to improve a bit. in your video it seems to be fairly overcast, which im sure was a factor

    For me, Ruko gives a sharper image, e.g. better definition detail of the fir trees, deeper colours. Holy Stone - image looks fuzzy, for me colour balance lawn of the house by the lock is close to a lime, and it makes you look washed out.

  • @rickdeckard4213

    • @H484R
      @H484R Před rokem

      I kind of wondered if APO didn't post the video footage of the video transmission in-flight from drone to phone, and just do a screen recording. I doubt it, but it's just a thought i had. Both drones produce similar quality (crap) in other youtuber reviews as this footage, when they post their screen-captured real-time-streaming footage. However, once the SD footage is played, the quality improves significantly. Both drones only stream 1080p @30 fps to the phone display, which is what I feel was shown to us in this video. While in reality they can record and store (only to the SD card) up to claimed "4k/30fps". And that footage was definitely not 4k. I watched this video intentionally on a fairly high end 27" 4k pc monitor with a 120hz refresh rate trying to see if i could come up with an idea as to why both drones failed so horribly, as they should, and can, produce much better quality.

    The DJI mini lis only 329 it's not 4k but it's 2k the software is better and it doesn't go out of control like the holystone plus is lower weight so you don't need to register like the holystone also It's really hard to trust reviews or comparison with people that don't even play with the drone for a few flights and get them for free, because holystone don't really care about customers unless you buy it overpriced really close in price to the DJI mini which has 3 axis gimbal instead of the 2axis of the holystone plus mine was a lemon and after a few flights it wenr out of control ( it was calibrated and once you go up is been hold by the gps against wind but once you maneuver forward sometimes it goes backwards and sideways faster than the speed you're going forward so you have to fight it and once you let go the joystick it goes backwards again the only way to save it is to press return home ,so I called customer service and they told me if I didn't buy on Amazon or their overpriced store they won't change it or fix it so I kept flying and I crashed into a tree then into a wall not so hard to damage the propellers but the gimbal stopped working so I can't even sell it or lend it because is just not safe it could go into a highway full of cars or on someone's head being heavy and at a speed might do some damage and once is registered you will have to put the number on the drone which I didn't knowing it was dangerous,the holystone is not really good flying around 4 to 10 feet is really hard to control when is behaving and sometimes it goes crazy besides it toilet bowl one time went around me I had to turn it off and recalibrate also when it lands the propellers won't turn off sometimes only the front turn off and the back keep working for about 3 attempts of pressing the turn off button I have a video of that which it happened many times but never had the chance to record it with a different phone ,if I had a GoPro on me or a tripod I would have catch the drone misbehaving but I do have the footage of the holystone 720g going backwards into a tree flying over 2 ladies heads you could see me turning in the middle of the park looking back saying some curse it didn't register because there's no audio on the footage but yes I pressed the turn off button twice and the forward first but it didn't work so I pressed the turn off red button many times and kept going into the branches of the tree landing upside down with the motors going crazy fast ,I just comment to warn people don't waste your money also when you have a sunset it looks nice but everything out on the bottom looks dark so the dynamic range is not high there's a lot of drifting when you spin on the axis with the left joystick on one spot is goes out of position so it like an overpriced toy ...the ruko footage looks nicer but they're too heavy and expensive...get the dji mavic mini instead

  • @H484R
    @H484R Před rokem

    Gonna sound like a total fanboy here but I dont really care. Having flown and owned everything from $20 no-name Aliexpress chinese clone drones, to my current Mavic 3 Classic, i've actually never dealt with an HS or a Ruko and have no real dog in the fight on either end. However, just looking into the HS720G recently as a backpack drone for camping/hiking trips, I've never seen video quality on any reviews as terrible as this. I'm really curious what the issue was. Most reviews i've seen looked far better. Some shots, with the appropriate post-processing, appear to rival that of the cheaper DJI's such as the Mini 2 or Mini SE. Generally from what i've seen doing real estate videography, it's difficult for someone without a somewhat trained eye to really tell the difference in videos taken by a $400 drone and a $1,000 drone. Which has been my impression of the HS, that it's produced quality that someone who's not really imbedded in the drone or film community wouldn't be able to differentiate from a better drone. This really has me curious what the issue is here. Not that i'm trying to bash the Ruko by any means. I just feel that based on what i've seen after hours and hours of reviews, the HS should have performed much, much better than it did.
    One more thing to keep in mind if you're shopping for budget drones, here in the states these are NOT price comparable. Going off Amazon prices, the Ruko has a List price of $620 vs the HS list price of $330. That's almost 2 times as expensive for those that failed kindergarten. I've seen the Ruko go on sale as low as $460 (as it currently is), and the HS as low as $210. Once applying the appropriate amazon coupons, the Ruko can be had for around $400 and the HS for $170. Not exactly a direct comparison, as in the mid-range price bracket that is a MASSIVE leap. You could buy the HS and 3 extra batteries for the price of the Ruko.
    That being said, the HS footage was definitely much more blurry, and the Ruko much more grainy. Neither are what I would call acceptable based off this footage. and neither looked remotely close to 4k.

      @@truedaystar having purchased the holy stone hs720g, I would highly recommend you to consider looking into the Fimi x2 mini v2. The HS does take pretty decent videos, and it’s fun to fly, don’t get me wrong. But it’s slow, only goes about 17 mph, and the video transmission range is awful. Best I ever got was 850 feet even when out in open country. At the full price of $300, I would highly recommend getting the Fimi x2 mini instead, or just go DJI Mini 2 or something. Both are far better than either the HS or the Ruku and cost around $330. My Fimi will fly at 40 mph, takes really really good video, and I’ve gotten it to over 10,000 ft before experiencing video feed issues
