- Client had this system installed end of Summer 2020 and has had several issues this year, including water dripping from her soffit. I take a close look at the overall installation, along with the graveyard the installer left in this ladies attic. You can't make this stuff up.

What’s the name of that condensate trap kit? With the caps and the brush. Nice touch🤝
E-z trap, also can buy it with built in float switch.
@@PipeDoctor Thanks Mikey! Your the man🤝

Thanks Mikey! "You are" the man.
I gotta tell you. As a retired electrician and contractor the first thing I commented on to my wife was the dirty condition of the house which I have come across many times myself. Unbelievable how people live!
That is the mark of a jack leg contractor when you leave all the old stuff on the job and do a sh-t job on top of that! It gives good contractors like you Mikey pipes a hard way to go! Great job Mikey pipes! Sippy cup should have been in that attic with you! Share the love 💓 Mikey pipes!
hides all the crap in the attic too!
He was just leaving some parts behind because he knew somebody was going to have to come in after him to fix things properly ;)
I have been in houses like that, scary thing is that was "Cleaned" it was prob 100% worse before the AC Broke.
Mikey here on Staten Island we have the old Chinese folks looking for the cans and bottles . But at least they tie the bags back up .
New Dorp
$10,000 with the house looking like that...she needs more than a spring cleaning sippy cup...nice work pipe doctor
Sippie cup for President 2024 !!!!!!!
In a pinch with that drain fitting, you could take a female threaded pvc 3/4" adapter and cut about a 1/2" (with hacksaw) off the threaded side and use that piece like a nut. Tighten it up nice with a pair of pliers and it'll hold fine. Those drain pans without the threaded bungs molded in suck.
or just put the whole adapter fitting on inside
I'm rooting for Sippy cup! " Don't give up Sippy cup!" you can do it!
Mike you need to quit picking up these technicians from Home Depot.
@@bizkitman308 Much better
I learned this in the Navy when I was 18!!! ..If your on time, you're late!
This ain’t the navy this the real work
The guy on the bike was just looking for Mikey Pipes stickers.
I don't expect everyone to have a Taj Mahal, but please have your stuff in some semblance of order. If that's untidy, it's definitely untidy elsewhere!!
with all the junk in the attic ,the attic is still cleaner then the rest of the house
Mikey you sound like every single person i knew in my hometown in NY
You gotta put that kid to work.... standing outside the attic probably staring at his phone like my help
As a former apprentice anywhere you are. He is. No disrespect intended.
He needs to learn the good and the bad of this field.
Love the content Mike.
Make his ass get down from the attic to the truck for water!!!
Glad you didn’t get stung with that nest so close to the hole for the pipe
Great repair!!
Thanks 👍
Now this looks like a typical job I come across and have to fix, just have to dive in and get it done.
Sounds like a lack of work ethic amongst some companies. Even if it is hot as hell in an attic during summer time, there is no reason not to clean up after you. The company who changed my ductwork in South Florida removed most of the old ducts but left some bits at the far end of the attic thinking I would never see it... I saw it when I came to check something else, luckily it was not much left. I am a nerd, I have to learn how things work and I like my house running like clockwork.
That job is the reason I always carry some osb board on my truck
@@PipeDoctor here in NC you can but it's 50 dollars a sheet
13:10 That pop off the p-trap clean out was oh so good. I'll have to pick one up at the supplier to grab one.
It’s jobs like these that make me just shake my head. Especially when you have to fix the system operationally.
Insulation would help out a bunch in that arris along with throwing all that crap out
This guy makes me want to clean my monitor
We're going to have to start calling those attics a "New Jersey Sauna"
💦💦💦💦💦💦
I like that
I guess I don't know anything about New Jersey homes, but it seems to be almost entirely attic air handlers. Put it in the basement if you have one. For the love of god.
Just a suggestion used a small funnel when checking the drains with water. On every maintenance I use it to check my drains great job coming from a 28 year vet in Philadephia it’s a pleasure to see your kind of professionalism
Lol he was using a Brita pitcher to fill the trap. If sippy cup couldn't find an empty bottle to fill at the faucet, he definitely wasn't finding a funnel.
Sippy Cup's attitude pisses me off. He has no idea the world of opportunity being presented to him, yet his demeanor clearly shows he doesn't care and it's a burden for him to be there with Mikey. I'd give that young'n a serious talk and give him another week to show some serious improvement or he would find himself back looking for work at Starbucks. The opportunity to learn from a master like Mikey isn't something that comes along every day. If he wants to piss it away, give it to someone who does want it.
My grandfather taught me that a helper should have the next tool/ part in your hand when the journeyman turnes around for it , you have to pay attention & focus on the job at hand & know the work, he should have at least had his head stuck up there watching you. Note, I have used the sawed female adapter more than once it works, also if you can use electrical pvc 90s on drain, long radius less cloging better flow with gravity feed. I'm in Hou, Tx our attics average 150+deg in summer, hydrate hydrate hydrate!
It's great for entertainment value on our end, but I agree sippy cup doesn't even want to be there. Christsake he gave him a Brita filter 🤣🤣
At the end of the day he's just not mechanically inclined no big deal
@@PipeDoctor is he still working for you? My kid was the same and in reality I fired him now he works for another company till he realizes how good he had it, watching this video that kid looks so much like my son
I used to do the same leaving scrap and such out because I'm a nice guy and they would do the same leaving trash all over my yard, so now they get nothing
That roof shot of the truck, looks pretty good man.
This is a difficult job. Everything is so hard to do plus a botched up install. That's why when I have a tech to do anything I make sure there is room and the area is clean. Some appreciate your help some dont.
Hopefully some of that water will make it to a mop bucket and swiffer
Love your videos sir
There’s literally 1,000’s of installs like that in Phoenix. There’s no Resi HVAC Permitting/Inspections.

Nice job, Mikey and Son......I feel your pain going into that 🔥 HOT attic!

One of my best customers over the years had a cluttered house, news papers stacked 4' high through the house, Very Nice Lady. When she passed away, they found over $80 Grand in those newspapers and her husband, which was drinking coffee in the back room, True Story! her son didn't know she had got remarried and every time he came over, the guy was in the back room and never came out, I never seen him either, and she was always talking about a guy, her son and I just thought he was a made up person to keep her company, but he helped clean out the clutter and lived there a couple more years till he passed away as well.
Mikey, I wouldn’t even be in that attic without a mask.
@@PipeDoctor will do
Sippy cup should’ve been in the attic
Sad that some people just have no pride in what they do . Have to give the kid credit he did come back with water ! I've been in that same situation tell you helper to go get something and they say I can't find it I've looked everywhere for it . Walk to the truck and it's exactly where you told him it was ..
Every single time this happens.
love the sizing on the supply plenum
You should carry some floor sanding/refinishing cards with you, I guess Valley Stream is turning into Queens. Tell them to install a pull down stair to remove all that crap up there.
Work like this is why I DIY. If I have to go around after the "professional" fixing everything he screwed up why pay him at all? I know there are some really good techs out there, the trouble is _finding_ one--you never really know what kind of work they are going to do unless you get references and then actually go look at the job they did and that gets to be a huge time-sink.
I guess the install contractor would have loved to get all that crap in the attic out of the way but he would have to cut it all up to get it through that small hatch. You also know that the homeowner would have a fit with all the dirt that would have been dragged through the house. That “spring cleaning” by itself would probably be a days work for TWO Sippy Cups
When you have to compete with cheap bids sometimes you can't justify charging the customer and performing the work to make it a proper install. However that drain line was unacceptable and they should have re insulated the copper lines.
the homeowner probably wouldn't notice. Did you see the mess in that house?
Excellent work again Mike!
Use a gain bottle fabri softener the spout makes it easier I use a 0.50 cent funnel
I'm shocked that Sippy Cup is still around! Lol
I was sweating just watching you in that attic.
Good job, happy 4th....
Do you guys insulate the drain pipe where you're from? I'm a Florida HVAC contractor and here we absolutely have to insulate all horizontal drain pipes that are not in an air conditioned space.
3/4” Electrical lock ring works
Next time you’re in an attic just disconnect the ductwork and pump cold air in the attic🤣
Nice demo and rebuild of condo drain , 👍🙏✌️💪🤙🤔🖖
hearing the Air handler whistle.. sounds like way high static.. I think a decent DIY couldve done a better install.. new drain looks great! I love those clear traps
Sippy Cup should go apply for a delivery position at local pizzeria, never going to make it in the field
ya did good-wth guess sippy cup did too-i didnt hear any cursing lol
Wow I installed a few comfort air I never see that with the drain Pan.
@@PipeDoctor what was up with the drain Pan. That it wasn’t thredded into the Pan . They the mail adapter
Needed a lock nut to hold in place .
Great video as always mike and Ethan 👍💯🔥🔥💵
Man I don't know how you do it but I wouldn't touch that house the 10 ft pole.. honestly you should add a line item charge for hoarder houses
Thanks Mikey. Have a good weekend and 4th of July
What I think happened is the lead had his apprentice mock-lead that day, and at the end of the day they both said "looks good from my house" and left for the next city over. Levity aside, that's the type of customer that just needs to be taken care of regardless. They obviously have bigger problems at hand in their life. BUT, as you mentioned, they do like to TALK... not very smart doing a bad job there, regardless of their status. Next time Sippycup can't find somethin on the truck, just have him go back and look near the fallopian tubes or aluminum magnet. That's one of my favorite things to do to see where my new helpers are at, comedically, intellectually, and how thick their skin is.
Now this is some hackassed work. I bet they left the ac graveyard up in the attic thinking the lady would never notice due to the condition she keeps her house in. They took her money and ran.
10 mins early is 10 mins late
CONDENSATE LINES ! I have been dealing with these non- stop this summer !
Man, if I was that homeowner, I would have had the installing Contractor back there and raised HELL! Well, unless they (homeowners) were a pain in the ass and pissed that contractor off but I'm going with that contractor being a HACK!
Well their excuse it is a family friend who did it, guy did it on the side ect. They deserve every head ache they have.
I see no hackery there. If I work in the shithole like this I will treat their house the way they treat it. If customer would care about cleanliness they wouldn’t be filthy hoarders to begin with…
Did that unit have a hot water coil? I seen 2 copper stubs off the top of it? Why would they put a unit like that there when it's not necessary 😕
I’m sure that was inspected to .
Mike enjoy the 4th you deserve it
She's a whistler mamma!
Didn't pull a permit, slammed it in took the money and puff they were gone. Those are the ones that give the trade a bad reputation .
Hello from the great state of Michigan Saint Mike that looks like hackery at its best.
How come you didn't replace secondary drain?
How are you mikey
What ever happened to tradesmen taking pride in their work? Do it right and always clean up after your work. If that means also cleaning up a previous mess, just take care of it. Even in a non accessible attic your work should look like you knew what you were doing and that you cared. Be it big or be it small, do it right or not at all. Hackery kills the golden goose for all in the trade.
Also it should be required and expected that attics need floors where equipment is located. At least 24 inch wide path from the entrance to the equipment and where ever there are components needing service. And there needs to be a light and a receptacle available at the equipment.
lots of a hack jobs on long island.
Trash picker was probably looking for copper and didn’t want just any old metal.
OSHA approved ladder usage @ 8:32 LOL
Why didn't you add ArmorFlex on the drain line to prevent sweating of the cold water running inside maybe in New York you don't have that issue but here in Florida you've got to put on reflex on the drain line or else it sweats everywhere
Hire hacks you get hacker and hack job. Why leave left over duct work in the attic. I would be livid.
Not that it matters but the black tubing is polyethylene not abs
I would call the installer and let him know that you had to repair his hack job install.
Isn’t that a hydronic heat coil air handler? Looks like they just didn’t hook anything to the hydronic coil
i cant tell if her house or attic was messier
attic was cleaner
House was messier
Just curious but I see a lot of box and flex duct systems.do customers not want to buy for a quality sheet metal duct systems or is there no good sheet metal workers there?
That is some funny stuff !!!!!
Sippy cup has demon eyes.....weird
Make him earn his stripes 💪

3/4 service coupler is nice, and clear pee trap, i am in FL where can i get those clear traps?

That’s one of the worst installation I’ve ever seen
Your pride and Work ethic allows you deal with these installation catastrophes
How did they get that unit up into the attic? It wouldn't fit through the trapdoor, did they take part of an outside wall apart for an opening?
@@PipeDoctor thanks for the answer. I would have just Sawzall a hole in the roof.
Do you charge extra when you have to work in a crack house OMG asking for a friend YIKES
That’s was a sh&t show in the attic. For the other company not to take the old equipment out of the attic and old material for what they charged is a disgrace. I just shook my head at our tin knocker when he was dumping old ductwork onto the client’s lawn, which I think they may I have leak in the water sprinkler line because the area was Saturated and muddy. Instead of taking the ductwork around where it was dry and throwing it directly into the truck. But some people are oblivious. Good job. I know those attics can get really hot and nasty.
Oh what fun it is to be a service technician regardless of what type you are electrical and HVAC get the worst when it comes to addicts LOL keep your feet dry this time from sweat LOL :-) :-)
Another word it's nothing like marinating in your own juices :-) :-)
Yes yes I have
But yeah I used to just have a k for my Google ID picture I decided to add some pizzazz with the suited and booted picture
Why would they put the emergency drain in the gutter
That old ass insulation is the worst.
Not an excuse, but that company definitely did a job fitting for the condition of that house. What a disgusting dump.
I know that neighborhood well, 10000 dollars is about 1/3 of the taxes paid.
A real shyt show in the house and in the attic. You should have taken that street scrapper to the job and had him take the old unit.
What’s the brand of the head lamp?
The house keeping skills of that customer was @ A all time LOW. Imagine how she takes care of her self.
