Raven Symone WAS the Disney Channel at one point. She dominated the early 2000s. However Disney chose what she said, how she dressed, and basically her whole personality. Her escape from the conglomeration was not perfect, but she did it.

@@TheoCynical This is why despite the fact that my almost 5 year old is so adorable and has a knack for repeating lines from her favorite movies I would never sit there and use her like that. Honestly, with how chill Raven has been compared to other Disney child stars is insane, especially with how overworked she was. What few controversies she has are pretty minor and she has been a massive influence on kids everywhere. I love how she never went overboard or did something obscene just to prove to everyone that she was different than her Disney identity. She was just herself and that worked out great
I relate to Raven so much. I was always heavy and turning to food. I lost 70 pounds and then was told it was too much and I looked bad. Then I gained weight and people kept asking âare you pregnantâ or telling me I was fat. It has messed me up so much.

Zendaya while not creating a reboot, to her first show, had followed in Ravenâs footsteps. She executive produced her second show KC Undercover and had a lot of input in the creative direction of the show because of how much Raven and Thatâs So Raven inspired her.
I heard her father had lots of play in that as well as her money ..
@@meadowsmama9423 okayâŠ
@@MONET8iAM both of those things can be true; and honestly if her own hard work and also her own family helped her to curate that show in the footsteps of TSR, I think it did her a great deed rather than leaving it in many others hands that donât care. Letâs not also forget her giant success on Euphoria as the youngest actress ever to get a Golden Globe and being the main love interest to Spider-Man in the MCU
I would say too that Zendaya had more leverage to do a Disney Sitcom than Raven did in her time (and this entire video gives context to that). KC Undercover was kind of a like a love Letter to That's So Raven (since Raven guest starred as a form of homage) and what it represented through Raven & the work it did for the network and for culture in its own right. I also feel like Raven's Home is a nudge back to what Zendaya did fighting for KC Undercover. Raven had the means to continue on the network like Zenday did, but on her own terms in a much better, much Free-er place.
The connection the two of them have is very inspiring when you think about it. They essentially have helped each other.

disney had a rollout system with their stars. they produced them everywhere and shoved them down our throats until they were culturally accepted. then theyâd offer little to none support to the aging stars and let them go. zac and cody are great examples. disney gave them their show, ran it out, let them go, and then they had to find their own way to succeed. they wouldnât do anything with the adult actors because the kids just wouldnât be interested anymore.
This makes me think of the guy they had playing Peter Pan back in the day. They owned him from childhood and refused to let him play any roles the moment he became a teenager and had some acne. They even had the gall to mock the whole situation in the recent Rescue Rangers movie with the whole Peter Pan storyline which closely mirrors that of his actor, Bobby Driscoll. He died young, secluded from family and alone.
I mean realistically why would Disney go outta their way to help aging "old" employees, when their audience are mostly kids..

To defend the black outs Raven had during performing on The Cosby Show, it makes sense for a child actor bc they the anxiety mixed with limited memory capacity for a small child could lead to memory loss. This is an awesome documentary about her life! The fact that Raven developed DID from her lifestyle as a serious actress/businesswoman since a child is not a shock. She had to take on characters and other lives since a developmental stage of her life and didnât get to control herself.
Orlando Brown is also a child actor who had to do the same in his own way. Combined with the seedy industry and any personal trauma he developed from it, itâs very sad that people didnât view him similarly to her as a reflection of what the industry does to people. While itâs great that Raven overcame her struggles, success OR non-success does not change the fact that someone is traumatized. Both Actors show both sides of the coin concerning the industry, and they have a very naturally charismatic talent that you see when you watch Thatâs So Raven. They play off of each other so well.
I wish people would use them individually (and several other child actors) as a beacon for change for this whole Child Star Pipeline. Very capable young people are being damaged for their talents.

From a young age, growing up watching Raven in the early 2000s, Iâve always loved her. Despite her now revealing how much she was controlled, she always came off as mature and self assured. Itâs unfortunate that sheâs made multiple controversial comments, but it didnât deter me from being a fan because she seems like she means well. Iâve tuned into the first and second season of Ravenâs Home, and it was pretty decent. I recently saw that TâKeyah Crystal Keymah, who played her mom, will be returning for a cameo on Ravenâs Home, so Iâve been binging this season and I like it. I wish her continued success in whatever she chooses to do career wise.

I'll keep it a buck. I don't really care much for the subject matter of these Disney actor videos, but I'll be damned if I haven't watched every single one from start to finish. Your writing and storytelling is next level and sucks me right into videos about stuff I don't even really care about. You have a real talent Pat, keep it up!
Never Stop bro.. your content is đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„
THIS is an amazing channel. Amazingly high quality content
I didn't like how the media was trying to get Raven to betrayed during the cosby time she was obviously a child growing up that she said she had "black out "so ....many times but didn't asked the older casted like Malcolm-Jamal Warner or Tempestt Bledsoe who was clearly always with Cosby 24 Hr more then Raven
Disney need to let Raven go , I didn't like how the media also trying to break her down so many of times its was disgusting how they treated her back then.
Patrick, I'm saying this as a big fan who cares about you. Slow down if you need to my friend. You've been on an absolute streak with the banger videos lately, I just don't know how you're managing to make so much great content consistently and still take care of yourself. Make sure you're making time for yourself as well bruh. And thanks again for all the excellent content.
thank you for this! I have focused on my work-life balance a lot more in 2022. To be honest, being able to make videos about "anything" has actually helped SO much. I am not constantly worrying about views or video ideas & all that. I feel like I have a new freedom to be able to cover a wide variety of topics which has made me stress less.
â@@PatrickCcâyou on fire tho!!!! lol jk do what you need fam. love your stuff. its so smooth
@@PatrickCc That is so great to hear. I can't wait to see what you do next. You do an awesome in depth job with these vids on 90s-early 2000s stuff and it's so interesting to watch. And to know that you're truly enjoying yourself while making them is just icing on the cake. Keep up the awesome work man đŻ
This is genuinely the nicest comment I've read on a youtube video

Raven walk so Selena, Bridgit, Demi and Miley can run
12:50 i get exactly what she means with this statement. we've kinda forgotten what these labels meant in the 1st place anyway. the term African-American isn't a race: it's a nationality. you see the term Irish-American and so on in the same format because of this. a nationality is not where you come from either: it's the place(s) you feel most at home, and as indicated by the "(s)" in "place(s)", you can indeed have multiple, which is why you can list more than one nation in it. Raven simply chose that she would drop "African" from her nationality
The reason why The Cheetah Girls were able to tour without Raven was because Kiely Williams and Adrienne Houghton were in the girl group 3LW. So most of the fans were fans of those two girls from previous group, they were the visuals, Raven was not the focal point.
That isn't true, Sabrina Bryan wasn't apart of 3lw either, plus Raven was way more famous than all 3 combined. She was to busy on her solo music and her show. She eventually left the group because of catfights especially with Kiely Williams
It wasnât a combative competition on popularity. She left cause someone in the group was being very catty at the time.
I've always had a lot of respect for raven she keeps it real and doesn't let people's opinions of her get to her.
I always check your subscribers cuz I canât wait to see you hit 1m. Well deserved. Been following you since early 2019 and youâve come a long way.
I just found this channel and wanted to say I really appreciate your work
Patrickâs notifications just hit different, you always know your going to get a well edited, interesting and overall nicely done video.
Yes this exactly how i feel. Everytime i see a new video from patrick i know im in for great content
Maybe it's because I'm not from America, but the uproar about her opinions seems really forced. To me she just seems like a genuine person. Someone you can have a conversation with. Not fake Hollywood sleaze. Then again we Dutch generally handle banter differently.
With her being colourist
Have very very bad fucking takes indeed
It was forced. The Buy Large Mansions crowd doesnât like it when people question their identity politics and will start a firestorm over literally nothing
Raven has always been someone I'd admire since I was little. At first I thought she was just a cute funny girl but she is very talented and very creative. Looking back over the years I think she is what molded my very specific taste in certain women. During her Disney years I was a typical guy and stayed away from most of her content but after Disney she became interesting to me again, actually more than ever and I can tell she was going through some personal development over the years. She may have missed a mark here and there but she never missed with me. Maybe its because I've meet people like her and its easier for me to understand where she's coming from. She has said some things that has even caused me to stop and think for a sec (not necessarily exactly what she said or how she said it but just more so putting what she said through mental scenarios and then pondering about those scenarios). She is a soul that loves to give and share, of course when she feels like it and if you're patient enough I think she would show you the real Raven. I would love to meet her someday. I don't say that for many celebrities.
This doc was amazing đ„ đ„ đ„
I never understood how whites say they are Americans but blacks say African Americans. Why arenât whites saying European Americans or better yet African Americans as well? Neither race originated in America to claim to be only American. If we are being technical about our original roots. I understand using Caucasian but most people say white/American.
I totally agree I want people to recognize "black" and "white Americans" as their own district ethic groups with their own unique important histories. Blacks Americans and African immigrants are not the same group of people despite being treated the same in America. The same thing goes for white Americans compared to European Americans. They want us to feel like we don't have a district heritages to keep us and immigrants clinging to racial lines. Like it's ridiculous and sad we don't make the distinction between Hatian immigrants, Nigerians and Black Americans who ancestors were slaves and founding members of this country. Idk man I think their really should be 3 or 4 ethnic groups for African descended people in America and 3 groups for white people in America because the racial divisions don't accurately reflect our cultural heritage
@@AtibaVV African immigrants but european americans? hm
When you did that poll about whether you should do more videos on people outside of the music industry I originally said no. Iâd like to change my vote. These videos are fantastic
i love this kind of content. keep going!
That So Raven was my favorite show growing up and I felt like Raven was the only person who understood me. The. The Cheetah Girls made me want to sing and understand my voice. Raven today is still a pivotal character in my life and it would be amazing to meet her one day.
This why I Stan this woman so much literally worked her ass since the age of 2!!! Who can say that in this industry her whole career is so slept on and she needs her flowers period her music is also incredible!!!!
Raven has no filter and sheâs real about how she feels about certain topics. Gotta respect it!
I absolutely love that she always is quick with an answer (or four), to the question "what do you want to do"...
