    Here we test, compare and grade capabilities and performance of micro trucks 1/18 - 1/24 scale.
    10 tests have to be passed, failing tests will rank the truck lower than trucks which passed all or failed less tests, independent of points gained:
    Test 1: Max. climbing ability on rough surface. 1 point for every 1° higher 45° Test 2: Max. climbing ability on smooth surface. 1 point for every 1° higher 45°
    Test 3: Max. descending ability including stop and ascending backwards 0.5 points for every 1° higher 45°
    Test 4 and 5: Tilt angle to the left and to the right. 0.5 points for every 1° higher 32°
    Test 6: Hill of branches, flat side. Max. 2 points
    Test 7: Hill of branches, steep side. Max. 10 points, rated by driver
    Test 8: Hill of smooth pebble stones, flat side. Max. 2 points
    Test 9: Hill of smooth pebble stones, steep side. Max. 10 points, rated by driver
    Test 10: Low speed performance and modulation 0 - 5 points, classified by comparison to well known models and ESCs 0 points: e.g. Panda Hobby Tetra K1, SG 1802 1 point: e.g. Hobby Plus CR-18, CR-24, Atlas 6x6 2 points: e.g. Axial SCX24 v1, Mini-Z 4x4 3 points: e.g. Axial SCX24 v2, Furitek ESCs with brushed motors 4 points: e.g. Hobbywing 1080 ESC, AS12 ESCs, ASX24 ESC 5 points: e.g. Furitek ESCs with brushless outrunner motors

    HobbyPlus have recently announced oil shock upgrades for the CR18P that are fully compatible with the CR24. It’s really awesome to see HobbyPlus giving us more mods and features.

      I did already order those. But still in transit. However, all the other oil metal shocks available for FMS, RocHobby, EazyRC 1/18 and FCX24 will also fit.

      @@donaldsneffe Where abouts did you order the CR18P oil shocks from? I haven’t been able to find them anywhere. Also, will the FMS shocks fit the CR24? I fear some shocks may be too wide and rub the inside of the tire walls on articulation.

      @@SlimHobbies I ordered from FairRC (1/18 CR18P Optional Oil Filled Aluminum Shocks) . They are quite pricy. Still in transit.
      Yes, they will also fit CR-24. Normally (also CR-18, Katana, Atlas, etc.) you will have to use a spacer between frame and shock. I do not see any problem in CR-24, there is quite a bit of room between shock and tire.
      Main problem are the hard springs all those upgrade shocks do come with. Some are very hard, even too hard IMO for FCX24. Would need softer springs for light CR-24 for sure.
      Length should not be a problem, CR-24 come with the same shocks (also same length) as the CR-18. Only the CR-18P Rock Van does have shorter shocks (Trail Hunter does have "normal length" Hobby Plus shocks).
      I am not sure if those upgrade oil shocks are of "Rock Van length" or "Trail Hunter/CR-18/CR-24/Katana/Atlas lenght", hard to tell from the picture.

    Nice! just bought it today and i have to wait 2-3 weeks for shipping.

    I gotta test the incline with the relocated battery and spring mod before I do any other mods or upgrades. The high battery kills the testing. Great show Donald!

    • @texomarc
      @texomarc Před rokem

      I bet just doing the battery relocation, it would really jump up the list.

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  Před rokem +1

      I know, but first I wanna test the trucks "out of the box".
      And not only the bad position, I really hate this battery box, super difficult to close with battery inside.
      I will also mod it, try to make an opening hood (such as the Atlas does have).
      And of course I will relocate the battery.
      Maybe another test only with "Texoma style mods" (shock springs, battery) and a further one with better wheels.
      But all those "MCCTs" are soooo much work to do. Probably will make only a simple "normal" video showing the improvement. This MCCT stuff is a "time killer", I probably need about 5-10 times as much time to do and finish an episode as I need for a 15 minutes "on the bench" video.

      @@texomarc It is already super good, number 4 of all "unmodified/out of the box" trucks tested, to be honest, nearly same result as number 3, the Rock Van. Only SCX24 Betty and (strangely, but because it is so heavy) the Panda are better in those tests.
      I think those "normal length Hobby Plus shocks" are the reason for its bad performance in some tests (tilt, climb). Rock Van does have new, shorter shocks (but still bad shocks ;) ).Does your T-Hunter also lift its left front tire so soon?
      Better shocks, battery front... servo on axle (as I did in my "No SCX24) will be difficult as it is in all Hobby Plus CR-18 with 050 motor (and Atlas, Katana) because of the panhard bar and the left front link. Not a super easy job... maybe I will play around a bit, unfortunately the servo on axle mount I made for the RGT (Enduro24) axles will not fit onto the Hobby Plus axles, so I will have to redesign it .

      @@donaldsneffe I totally get it about the time killer videos. The battery box does suck to use, I agree. I’d like to see a working hood. That’d be cool! I tested mine and hit 54 degrees incline with just the battery relocation and spring mod. Doesn’t lift the tire near as bad when climbing after the mods but it still does. On the fcx24 with adjustable collars, I add tension on the opposite rear shock to help compensate. Hope you have a great day, brother!

      @@texomarc Sure it is not so hard to improve. But first of all I wanna know "out of the box".
      My modified Kratos did 57°, I assume the T-Hunter could even be a bit better after mods, ... we will see (or will the portals be a handicap... maybe).
      Tinkering around a bit next days... we will see.
      Thank you - Have a great day, too!

    For the shocks the black brass enduro 24 are my go to. Have you checked the gear ratio of the hunter vs the van trans gears?

    Are you also going to check out the Ldrc P06, I would like to see a build from you.

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  Před rokem +1

      Probably not.
      I am not so much in this WPL/MN/JJRC style stuff anymore. I do have way too many trucks. However, did already buy a P06 from Banggood, but not for me, for a buddy.
      Simply not enough time (and room) to play around with all those trucks.
      Still did not finish my Orlandoo trucks (4x4, 6x6), for example.

      Ja, klar, ... bei jedem der modifizierten Modelle steht es in der Liste dabei. Nr. 1 der "Serienmodelle" ist SCX24 Betty, dann (unglaublich) der Panda, und dann Rock Van und T-Hunter, sind also schon echt gut, die CR-18P..
      War niegelnagelneu out of the box ;-)

    Omg get a driver 1st of all, and second all the trucks that passed it were modded. This thing would take anyone of them if it was modded.

      T-Hunter is place 4 of all "out of the box trucks/unmodified", not place 1. Still top.
