  • Let’s #GoXplr the abandoned dams of the historic Adams Mill in Manchester, Connecticut. The Adam’s Mill was established by Peter C. Adams in 1863 when he purchased a paper mill, outbuildings, 38 acres of land, and Hockanum River water privileges. The mill flourished and expanded over the years. It became known as one of the finest paper producers in the country. Mark Twain was known to write on Adams Mill Paper and it was also awarded a metal at the World’s Fair in Paris in 1879. When Adams passed away in 1896, the mill operations began going downhill due to a number of reasons.
In the late 1900s, the main kill building was converted into Adams Mill Restaurant which thrived for 37 years. It closed down in 2019 and Elicit Brewing Company took over the space.
Today, visitors are welcome to check out the Adams Mill trail which is home to three super cool abandoned dams.
