Not sure if the band looks at these comments, especially after all this time, but this song has to be my favorite for so many reasons. Not sure as to what purpose or intent it was written for, but for me, it was a song of healing during my separation and eventual divorce. I can't tell you how often this song was sung at the top of my lungs in my car with the tears a'flowin' down my cheeks. My comment was not to sadden but to inspire that life goes on and this song gives strength to those who need to find their way. No longer out of place my friends :)
Me too I mean singing the song ofc but may better things come to you and even greater love and success to you man dying give up and keep moving forward

Grew up with 10 years on satellite TV. "Wasteland" by 10 years, and "The Red' by Chevelle introduced me to alternative rock/metal. These guys shaped my musical taste for my entire life.
Starting over again at 33, and this song has been my life line. I've spent so long trying to fit into where I was supposed to and was nothing but miserable. Not anymore!!!!
@Heather Dolan, I have been there as well and I know it can be tough. I have had to start over a few times, one of those times I only had my clothes on my back and my vehicle and God brought me through it. Not trying to push my beliefs on anyone, just saying what helped me through it, lots of prayers and God putting things in place. Now I am blessed to be married to a wonderful man, a home and my loved ones close by :). We fought hard to survive and made it and I hope and pray that things have fallen in place for you :)
"I'm fine in the fire, i feed on the friction, I'm right where i should be, don't try and fix me" That verse best describes how i feel about people and about society in general because all my life i had people try to change me and be something and someone I'm not and don't want to be and I'm not gonna be. I'm happy with who i am and those who don't like it i don't need nor want to be associated with them. I'm happy being my true self my one of kind true self. 💯🤘🤘

This is my first time hearing this song today 08/30/23. It’s so good! I’ve only heard their probably most popular song Wasteland and I’ve loved it for so long. I never thought to try to listen to any of their other songs. Im not disappointed!
saw them live earlier tonight they we're so FUCKING Amazing Update: two years later. Still in love with them 🤷🏻 Update: 5 years later and my opinion remains the same.
Actually, this video has everything to do with the song. Just listen to the first line "its taken a lifetime to lose my way, a lifetime of yesterdays..all the wasted time on my hands.." They are talking about the image others (record labels, etc) have tried to mold them into. In the video, they play all these stupid "characters" who are not the people they are. It's wasted time for them, they are fine with the band they are, the people they are. If it's going to end up "burning" them, so be it. Jesse states "I fail to follow"- he's a leader and does what he wants. They had fun in the video too just because they've made alot of serious videos but their cool as hell goofy guys. Love it.
You know, I absolutely see what you are saying. I never really noticed it before. Regardless, I had loved the video before reading your comment. But reading this makes it all that better now. :)
This song has a whole new meaning to me now that I am 25. Heard it first when I was 15. I wasnt mature enough to realize how much time I was wasting doing drugs and being careless. Now I look back and it makes me cry. I struggle so hard everyday knowing I messed some many opportunities, friendships, and my own thought process. Im hearing this song today for the first time im 10 years and this helped.
This song actually has the opposite affect with me. I immediately identified with it when it first came out. Defeat was the storybook of my life through the filter of my selfishness. I’m 2 1/2 years sober now and it has EVERYTHING to do with Jesus Christ. Not religion, but a relationship, with Jesus. Reading the comment that you still struggle everyday with your past broke my heart brother. Scriptures like Romans 8:1-2, Philippians 3:13-14, 2 Corinthians 5:17 & Philippians 1:6 has set me free and given me hope. I’m not ashamed of my past anymore. I embrace it but I don’t live in it. People can relate to your downfalls but what’s even greater is how you overcome them. That’s what makes your past relevant! I don’t know what you believe or what kind of experiences you’ve had with the church (the people of God). Don’t let the hypocritical Pharisees that have bashed you change your perspective of God. God actually hates religion (I know that sounds weird). Jesus just wants your heart, not a set a rules to follow (which is what the hypocrites in this world full of religion tend to focus on). I can embrace the lyric “I’m fine in the fire” because I know that Jesus is right there with me. I could never fix me. I tried, it didn’t work. I can’t fix anyone else. I tried to save my mother, she died in her addiction. The Holy Spirit spoke to me in a supreme moment of healing saying, “you could never save her, I’m her savior”. Only Jesus can fix broken things. I wanna leave you with a song that gives a different perspective to this. I also want to leave you with a scripture that will not only bring hope but will change your life if you choose. The first part is a profound promise. The last part is an instruction. An instruction that will make everyday you struggle with your past a lot easier to deal with: Jeremiah 29:11-14 m.czcams.com/video/zmNc0L7Ac5c/video.html
This song is very open to interpretation, brother. There are multiple ways it can meaning for you. Great song. Helped me too... just in a different way.
@@matpalazzo1965 i second your interpretation, many people do n make things that not even they know the interpretation of, could maybe be taken different ways but it seems pretty plain that being at peace even with the daily struggle of life has quite a bit to do with everything you've said. N that's why I like the song so much.
Don't know if the band ever read the comments, but about 2 or 3 years ago you came to Memphis to Minglewood Hall and there was a massive storm that killed the power. You kept playing through the song you were in and it was INCREDIBLE! Just this past Tuesday, May 23rd, I finally got to see the whole set. You guys are awesome! Worth the wait!
I had never heard of 10 Years until I went to a Seether concert in August. Lead singer came out with a red jacket on, big red sunglasses and a painted on mustache. What can I say? I'm a fan now!

I used to listen to this song when I was depressed and walked around my house at night, drunk at 15. Takes me back to that feeling. Still depressed, still an awesome song 🤝🤘
Just saw 10 Years last night; I didn't realize how much I loved them untill I saw them live. All I can say is... Wow. The lyrics; the theatre - all of it was so honest. Wow.

Everytime I come to a rough patch in life this song has helped me so much will never forget when I met you guys at Click's Live In Tyler, TX still the best live performance I have ever seen thank you guys! 💜
This video is a message that the band members of 10 years haven't forgotten their roots and don't have to act like a wannabe stage band that they are just regular people in a band.
Who's listening in 2024!!! 🤙❤️

This video is a message that the band members of 10 years haven't forgotten their roots and don't have to act like a wannabe stage band that they are just regular people in a band.
