    Lyrics:
Last day of the rest of my life
    I wish I would've known
'Cause I didn't kiss my mama goodbye
I didn't tell her that I loved her and how much I cared
Or thank my pops for all the talks
And all the wisdom he shared
Unaware, I just did what I always do
    Every day, the same routine
Before I skate off to school
But who knew that this day wasn't like the rest
    Instead of taking a test
I took two to the chest
Call me blind, but I didn't see it coming
    Everybody was running
    But I couldn't hear nothing
Except gun blasts, it happened so fast
I don't really know this kid
Though I sit by him in class
Maybe this kid was reaching out for love
    Or maybe for a moment
    He forgot who he was
Or maybe this kid just wanted to be hugged
    Whatever it was
    I know it's because
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
Little Suzy, she was only twelve
    She was given the world
    With every chance to excel
Hang with the boys and hear the stories they tell
She might act kind of proud
    But no respect for herself
She finds love in all the wrong places
    The same situations
    Just different faces
Changed up her pace since her daddy left her
Too bad he never told her
    She deserved much better
Johnny boy always played the fool
    He broke all the rules
So you would think he was cool
He was never really one of the guys
No matter how hard he tried
    Often thought of suicide
It's kind of hard when you ain't got no friends
He put his life to an end
    They might remember him then
You cross the line and there's no turning back
Told the world how he felt
With the sound of a gat
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
Who's to blame for the lives that tragedies claim
    No matter what you say
It don't take away the pain
That I feel inside, I'm tired of all the lies
    Don't nobody know why
It's the blind leading the blind
I guess that's the way the story goes
    Will it ever make sense
    Somebody's got to know
There's got to be more to life than this
There's got to be more to everything
    I thought exists
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
    The youth of the nation
We are youth of the nation
We are youth of the nation
We are youth of the nation
    We are

No sense of hope or true vision of a future for themselves or their peers. If You're reading this, you found a path through the crap and I congratulate you. Inspire the generations that are following you to know that life, in and of itself, is worth the pain and confusion of growing into adulthood. We were all there once, some more than others... it hurts less to know that you truly are not alone. Also, believe it or not...I'm a conservative. LOL...we aren't all poison.

Yes true, like i said, on a evolutional level we cognitively adept, but most so called Adults behaving like idiotic self-centred Douchebags their whole lifes. My Neighbours (in their 30's) are a prime Example, this very nanosecond, as their shitty daily Routine. And don't start me on their psychotic Child they have raised and have to answer for.

I agree and somehow disagree. Since kinda every decades has the similar blatant music and genre since May 1968 to nowadays .
Only difference in todays music as whatsoever is the boring choice of words means to not hurt a certain ethnicity. The same rhythm etc...
This music style was so a common back in the 90's . I call it pre-puber generation music that are in their 16-25 years . The style is similar as to Eminem, The Prodigy, LaCuna Coil, The Chemical Brothers,...mix that with some electro music and a fake live like children are singing with it to make it more credible. Kinda another band from that era was similar "Alien At Farm" used a song from Michael Jackson their title and clip showed a monkey etc...

Society it self is broken my man. I dropped out school and Ive worked several jobs would get bullshit pay im 30 now every day im starting to wonder who the real crazy people are.... But even the old classmates i knew who did take study loans arent better off sometimes there life is even worse of because they wanted to educate themselfs more for maybe better job oppertunitys but they get milked or dropped by companys once they figure out they getting paid less... then the education documents should give em so if they get lucky or not with a job is realy the issue.
Ive been personaly attacked sabotaged and more by employers denied serten acces to documentation for stuf i did while working. the last job i left they wanted me back in but i couldnt make the sallary work. I just told them its to little and before i could explain why i got insulted and personaly attacked +i got told i should get a wife and kids if i expected be paid more... Also i should have been gratefull i had that job at his company. *shakes head* its nice if i fix people there problems but i also expect something to live off.... Meantime anybody who did better then me the last 10 years is happy... but yeah im starting the wonder if im ever gone see anything i want to achieve. Even if i have experions in a job people want me to work for less... and thats the real issue i feel no motivation to do so if its not needed ive always kept my finances in check. if im better of being home and jobless i rather be jobless. In my personal situation i can litteraly spin the table against a employer i dont need to work for somebody i can make a choice if i want to.
But yeah if being home is better financialy... i realy wonder wtf is wrong with the system where i live... but yes young people cant seem to get anywhere unless they get something that works for them or a specialized in a serten job sadly once you get older it becomes harder to get the money to do so. + even if you work a job where i live it doesnt mean you can get a house. + low paying jobs become a trap for anything long term or personal goals.

The whole cool teenager thing with hands in pockets was not cool it was anxiety to not stand out. What happened was the net generation coddled their kids, everyone is a winner type of shit so now we have snowflakes who cry and scream when they don't get what they want, no one said no to them and they never lost. You have a year on me so my guess is you missed the diss era. 90's man, those were the good years.

sometimes songs are beyond their years. i remember when this song came out and felt that some songs just give you the impression that it would be something felt in 20 years time, and even though i was a teen then , i feel this song has more of an impact now after watching my teen daughter go through school and see how her peers family life and school experiences have gone for them. When this song came out, it wasnt known much about domestic violence, homeless teens that choose that life because home was too shit, drugs, violence, turbulent school life, psychology and medication, suicides. Like my teen years were very naive. my daughters and her friends were not so much.

Back when I was part of the "youth of a nation", a kid that went to my high school brought a rifle one day under a trenchcoat and pulled it out about 10 seconds after I passed him in the hall. Two fellow students subdued him before he was able to fire. He was bullied and had a hitlist. Please let that sink in. Don't be an asshole. People go through shit that you may be unaware of. It costs nothing to be kind.

The more I hear this song, the more school shootings keep happening. Something is trying to desensitize our nation to all these home based gun violence. Right now in the USA, our worst enemy is AMERICANS, ourselves! Every time we think we have finally reached an era of full scale people getting along wo ANY PROBLEMS, somethin always “randomly” happens that drives our country further and further apart!
