String theory, or now superstring theory, allows gravity to be described in the quantum level, it predicts the graviton. However, there are some problems with this theory(not in the scientific sense, it’d be more of a hypothesis), I’ll just name one, because it can get very long explaining this. The main problem you could say is that the string theory and superstring theory predicts (or requires there to be) that there is 6 other dimensions, or 10 total dimensions of our universe. He explains this portion well, but it's also about connectivity. When we look at the space between atoms, sometimes we wonder what causes bonds, and these questions repeat for much larger distances, and quantum distances. Why are some things held together? String theory is just one theory that kind of suggests that particles like to hang out together. We then ask ourselves if there is anything outside of the universe's strings? Well, there could be more strings. I don't firmly believe in string theory as it pertains to physics, though. It's almost more like philosophy. M theory is similar, but it's about membranes. Like...what if our universe is in a giant bubble or membrane. And that membrane has the potential to bump into other universes or membranes? In theory, could we ever punch through those membranes? Could we ever reach them to determine whether there's a multiverse? Could we establish whether they're there or not using math or physics? And yes, they have been debunked or at least set aside because we can't really test them. Some still think that a black hole is a point where two membranes are resting/pressing against each other. We could account for the flattening/inverting/coning of information. Sort of.
