I'm so early Peppermint is still trying to explain that it's fashion
This should be pinned 😭😭
But is it fashion?
💀
Insert Bob yelling *ITS THE ROCK*
but wait….is it fashion tho
I’m theorizing that Mistress is gonna be the Lady Camden in this situation. She has been doing well all season and next episode is an over the top acting challenge which I think mistress can slay.
I really hope they dont give her an "always the bridesmaids never the bride" storyline because she's so talented, versatile and a shady lady haha
@@buddyyyy oh, they will.
According to spoilers... mistress will win in episode 7.
@@mlgjunfiv92 bruh who asked for spoilers?
mistress is great
I feel like if we had any judge deliberations it would also help with storytelling. We'd be able to see some of what the judges are thinking in terms of placement, maybe they disliked some element of Sashas or had additional praise for Aura I think the storyline and the win would make more sense from a viewer's perspective.
Also, for the hip hop group, I felt that Jax and Robin didn't do as much character work as others - throwing in a sore back after some of the dips and tricks felt like it would have gone a long way with Ru.
I miss the deliberations most of all in these shortened episodes
So true!!
Well I been saying that but mush mouth drag race fans wanna argue and play dumb. Some seem to prefer the short run time of 45 mins but yeah cutting judges deliberations is something I think would fill in the blanks as to why Aura was placed 1st.
I honestly thought Spice was going to be in the bottom with Anetra and Robin. That was what I saw - Anetra didn't know her words and Spice didn't really do the challenge. I also thought Marcia^3 might get called out for being the 25 year old staff out with the elderly women from the home. 😂😂😂
I think Robin getting sent right after Amethyst is because the failed storyline of Amethyst and Robin romance thing. Obviously both of them moved on before drag race started but once producers found out they clearly wanted that angle and once they realized it was a dead end both got cut.
robin was done so dirty... and it's so sad to see people say she was sent home because she was boring. like how can we know she's boring if we straight up don't get to know her AT ALL. it's sad.
We can go with the line that Robin was boring, BUT the reason is because, as you said, we didn't have the chance to know her AT ALL. Irene - such a fucking miss to eliminate her first. Sugar and Spice lip sync basically EP 3 (technically 4), and now Miss Robin. She looks like a lovely person, talented performer, her mug is awesome, she has interesting drag style I wanted to see more of, but.. yeah. This season's decisions and editing are a HUGE MESS.
To quote Irene, "The only queen to have less screen time than Sherry Pie"
She was boring in the 30 total seconds she was on Season 15, I guess???
Yeah people can't think properly. Boring people don't become drag queens lmao like? That's just not what they chose to do and become.
she was boring in all her interviews off the show too.
Mistress basically said in a viewing party that one of her main aims was to make this a great season where queens wouldn’t be afraid to be outspoken, say how they feel, embrace conflict and create great TV. She didn’t want another boring season. I think Mistress (and Lux!) really know what they’re doing in this respect, and I LIVE for them. I do feel like it’s thanks to them that this season is feeling more entertaining, genuine, watchable. I just love it ❤
Honestly, this season the side stuff (Pit Stop, Whatcha Packing) tells me WAY more about the queens than the actual episodes. That's such a big problem.
I shouldnt want to watch Watcha Packing, Ive never needed to until this season
Exactly what I was just saying! The interviews they did with that one guy (I forgot his name 🫣) I learned more about the queens in those first few mins then I have in all these episodes! That's a problem!
“they see her as a contender for the crown” soooooo this aged badly 😭😭
My thoughts:
It's possible they sabotaged Sasha's win in order to not make it painfully obvious she's the favored to win, sometimes we get a queen that gets the Chad Michaels treatment (Ru's about to die) where they are cast in order for them to win specifically, and Sasha from Day 1 felt like she might be the queen, so not giving her this win could potentially be producer's way of creating additional tension of "well, she's not *that* great" (even though she clearly is), so to keep the suspense.
Not the reference in parentheses LOOOOOOOL
Sasha bout to die, so ru wanted her to be happy
@@jt4351 and I just realised I fucked it up. OH WELL.
@@iandean1112 wait isnt she like 40?
@Ei Joona around there I believe.
I think also Jorgeous' win was a smart play on the producer's side because they knew Daya would have no problem calling it out (because that's just who she is and she brought great drama that season) which led to them having a bit of a tension between them. Entertainment.
i fucking love aura and it breaks my heart how the show and the fandom is treating her
People learnt nothing from Jorgeous' case tbh. It's not her choice that she won. If anything, production should be called out lol.
Selina being in the bottom last week was the most obvious form of riggery thus far.
REMINDER PEOPLE: You can disagree with the judging in the show--yes, the JUDGING. Rupaul is who decides who gets wins. You can disagree with the judging regarding who won a challenge without going to the winning queen's replies or dms to spout nasty hate and racism. Its easy and its so fun. I may disagree with the judging for the ep, but im still very happy for Aura and I hope she continues to do well in the show!!
I feel like this season is the Profit At All Costs season. They crushed in the largest cast in DR history- Not to give more queens exposure, but to squeeze more episodes out and sell ad time. They negotiated the shorter runtime most likely bc MTV sweetened the deal if they could squeeze in Friends of Weho between the DR and Untucked. They're not showing they care about the queens or their work. It looks like just pumping and dumping challenges, looks, and Emmy moments like a content farm at Buzzfeed. These queens deserve better. But DR and everyone knows that RPDR has a monopoly choke hold on opportunities like this for Queens.
Update on my perspective after the rest of the season aired. It was like day and night once they got to the longer format fewer Queens. Ugh. Why do we love DR so much?! 😓
There have been SEVERAL times this season where the story telling really fell through for me. Like, I dont need 15 min longer episodes but 3 minutes could help a lot to give me insight into certain important queens for the episode (e.g. tops and bottoms) - and to get me to ACTUALLY CARE. For example, when Loosey got praise for her Dolly in the second challenge after almost going home and wanting to prove herself... Just 30 sec more of talking head/ discussing with another girl how she feels at the beginning of the day, and then again a ~30 sec clip to show how she feels about the critiques she got. + Add some tension through timing and editing until they hear who won & is in the bottom 2.
Like, I WANT TO CARE, SHOW! So make me care - give me a reason! Show me what these queens are feeling and going through internally
my takeaway from the last episode was this: they gave us basically no reason to expect that Aura was gonna win or that Robin was gonna go home. and when she did leave, my first thought was "damn i wanna be sad but this show gave me basically nothing to remember her for" and that's really heartbreaking when you think about the fact that all the girls who had been eliminated before her this season all had memorable moments prior to their elimination. they gave Robin _nothing._ and damn it hurt not even hearing any confessionals during the runway. there were so many looks this week (whether i liked them or not) where i wanted to hear the queens' though processes and concepts behind them. i like knowing why a queen interpreted the runway category in the way that they did, and it's frustrating to not get any of that.
The only moment they really set up Robin going home was when they showed Ru giving that "ehh..." face after Robin did that split 😅
I'd rather hear the confessionals during the runway rather than the old puns from the panel that was already overdone 10 seasons ago
I knew Robin was the eliminated as soon she had the chance to talk 😭
@@Sir.Catsanova I can’t stand the punssss!!!!
I feel bad for the editors having to gut these episodes because of WeHo. It really does suck that we have to face the brunt of it because I feel like this season could be so much better if we got full episodes every week.
Loved the video! The way the producers and editors are making the stories this season it's sad and reminded me of your point about we entering a new era on drag race, which the queens and the audience is more aware of the damage created by the fandom's hate, but the show seems like to invest on narratives that aims to increase this behaviour and it's sad
The show does seem more aware of the fandom hate, and to me it seems like they've softened the villain edits. They don't go out of their way to make queens look boo-boo quite as much as they used to. I think they're more trying to rely on things like unfair/questionable wins to create fervor in the fandom. Obviously this tactic has not reduced the amount of deranged hate mail the fans send 💀
LMAO so much for that Aura storyline
Said it elsewhere, but it looks to me like runways are counting for a lot more this season, which explains a lot of high and low placements. Seeing no deliberations, who knows really, though.
The whiplash I got from the reference to Sadie and Katie from TDI was enough to send me to drag heaven
I love you for making a katie and sadie reference, TDI was amazing and its also a great analogy for whats happening with Spice
Wildest thing to me is the hip-hop group doing way less visual comedy around being old (at least from the edit) and that was literally what I expected them to talk about & how they were gonna justify the bottom placements and then they just didn't bring it up at all??? It was so baffling it made it feel so arbitrary like they were like idk. Bottom for you two cuz we feel like it 😗 Also dying over Marcia having two genuinely interesting things that could be used for conflict/placement justification (she completely missed/ignored the runway subject but she also choreographed her group's dance routine) and they just made her safe like... literally it was such a waste bc it would have made so much more sense for the judges to actually Talk to her about any of this and give her a chance to speak!! It was such a wild edit I'm still not over how hacked together the whole thing felt -_-
I totally agree with Anetra. The lack of screen time does her so dirty cuz she’s so amazing. I fall in love with her every episode for all both of the minutes she’s shown 😫💕
Im really gonna feel bad for Aura if they do her dirty in this weeks episode and give people even more fuel to hate on her getting a win over Sasha.
My partner and I both agreed that Sasha did the best, but Aura SERVED HARD TOO. I was just happy it was one of those 2 haha
@@iandean1112 I agree with that. They both had good looks.
Such a good analysis. I thought Aura's Q&A on Roscoe's was really enlightening, and it made me fall in love with both Aura and Robin. I hope to see more from both of them... Robin would slay an All Stars season.
ISTG if they produced this episode to make Aura win with out proper confessionals and screentime and then send her home…I will be livid.
I sadly think that'll be the case. Not just based on the leaks, but it's kind of expected at this point. Once a queen's arc is finished, they're basically just cannon fodder to the producers.
I think she's going home next honestly, yes there are leaks but also she's struggled with the comedy challenges so far and I'm afraid she'll probably be going home
She should be one of the next girls going, what else does she have to offer?
Aura should have already been gone
@@RNCHFND i mean you don't have to say it that way but yeah it almost felt like the win was a last goodbye
I don't like what they're doing with Aura. She seemed to be so sweet and funny, but now she's delusional and a "threat". This storyline is so messy, confusing and definitety harmful to Aura.
"They actually see Aura as a potential frontrunner in the competition" And I-- oop! 😳
6:45 JACK YOU'RE A TOTAL DRAMA FAN OH MY GOD!!!! i didn't think i could love you and your content more but this is a SLAY
that TDI Katie/Sadie reference almost KILLED me... it's so true but i would've never thought to compare them to sugar and spice. ur references always get me in a way no others could
08:43 Not winner of AS8 Lala Ri 💀🫠
Why did that edit send me
I feel so far this season this was the first episode where the 40 minute edit didn't feel rushed or chopped, except for the runway, having said that I just watch a couple of episodes of season 9 on MTV Latin America and the runway time is the same as season 15
i can't WAIT to see al these queens returning in all star seasons and getting more screen time. they deserve it so much.
the lala ri bag ball jumpscare took me out, HELP SPICE NOT EVEN HAVING A HALF A SECOND
Uploaded 48 seconds ago?? I think I'm officially a stan now.
THE KATIE AND SADIE PARALLEL 20/10 analysis
also the use of cross fades seemed like a mistake in the editing timeline lmao
One thing that I noted watching the episode a second time is that I didn’t notice that Aura was genuinely really good in that challenge. I really just think the editors blundered this episode because I didn’t have any indication that I should focus on Aura all that much. In terms of verses Sasha clears, but I felt Aura gave the most rock in that group.
6:46 OMG I LOVE TDI I CANT BELIEVE I NEVER MADE THIS CONNECTION YET
I agree with you on everything about Robyn Fierce except one thing: that BTM2 placement was deserved, particularly for that runway.
OH MY GOSH A RETROSPECTIVE ON SEASON 7?? YAYYY IM SO EXCITED !! Im still a bby drag fan (and obvi I started with s7 cuz of Trixie, Katya, violet etc) but I thoroughly enjoyed it, even if they wasted the potential of the fashion queens by doing like 7 comedy group challenges 😭😭😭 also hype for the aquaria video, im going thru s10 rn!!
Season 7 is underrated. It was the first season I didn't pirate, and it holds a special place in my heart
Go watch the roscoes viewing party! I felt like I got to know Aura and Robin SO much better from that hour than I have from the show!
Is it even worth it spending time in the actual show though? I just skip it and go for the Rosco's.
Honestly I feel like theirs almost no reason to watch this season sense we already know miss Colby is gonna win
I agree about the runways Jack. I watched Fashion Photo Ruview for this episode and genuinely did not remember the runways. I remembered so little about the fashion that I second-guessed whether I had missed an episode. Seven seconds is not enough. It's half the reason why many of us watch in the first place.
I think Aura definitely deserved her win, her verse was great, I’d say her makeup in the challenge was a standout, she overcame her nerves, with a great runway that used an aspect of tie dye that was lacking from most other Runways: CONTRAST. A solid underdog overcomes storyline. IF THAT WAS ACTUALLY TOLD CLEARLY IN THE EPISODE. Meanwhile Marcia dodges critiques over it even attempting old lady makeup and missing the runway category.
love your videos and always look forward to them!
This edit is kinda setting up an Aura win then elimination next episode and I'm here for it 💅😌✨
Using Total Drama editing as a reference for Drag Race editing is possibly the most iconic thing I’ve heard from a Drag Race analyzer
That little cheeky cut at the end of the video lol
I see what you did there, king!
I was flabbergasted that Sasha wasn't given the win!
I think with US Drag Race I’m so used to wins occasionally being whack/unexpected that I just gloss over it and find an explanation for myself. It’s possible that things were lost in the edit and there was some Aura storyline that we didn’t see (which would’ve made her win seem more “earned”) BUT also they could just be highlighting other queens rather than Sasha the entire time (because they know Sasha is clearly a front-runner and will win later on).
Anyway, maybe it’s because I’m enjoying S15 way more than S14, but I’ve just had very little to complain about this season, ngl. The cast is just so much more dynamic, outspoken and interesting. Challenges don’t seem mediocre and there are always memorable moments. Werkroom banter and drama is on-point and makes the episodes more interesting.
Love season 7 and have no idea what Aquaria has been up to since her win so I'm really excited for your upcoming videos!
disagree with what you said about spice. I think they really want her to succeed and have an improvement storyline and she was barely shown to save her from the bottom. They are not giving her screentime so shes not on peoples mind when thinking who was the worse this episode.
Always watch your vids king keep it up!
This is the give it to her season, they are giving girls wins or mini challenge wins before they send them home. Aura just proved that
NOT SADIE TOTAL DRAMA!!! Why is that so fucking accurate.
(Sidenote: would love a total drama video at some point. It's what got me into Reality TV)
the worst part about that edit someone made was that not only did I not realize Lala Ri was in the wrong season until like a full minute after, but that they probably could sneak an extra queen into the cast on the runway and I would not notice
Season 7 is my favorite season. Truly some of the most iconic queens of the show all in one season with such a fun Untucked.
And Aquaria is on my top three queens! So looking forward to that video!
Excited for season 7 video💕
I think these sleeper wins are not only used to pretend a queen is a frontrunner when they’re not, are meant to disperse wins so that it’s like so many queens are doing well
Kinda making the season less predictable
They’re annoying though because it’s blatant riggory
Hahahaha the edit when Ru says lala ri and it's her in that purple and pink bag disaster 😂
8:42 Not miss LaLa Ri 😭
i love that you’re doing a video per episode
Thank you for this twitter edit! Lala Ri infamous runway inserted in this is priceless
I really don't know how this season is gonna turn out, because I didn't watch any spoilers, but ISTG, I genuinely can't imagine a a version of this season where Sasha doesn't win.
I didn't know before this season, but she is just justifying her legendary status every week
Regarding this weeks placement;
I think there's a valid reason to put all of the hip hop team in the bottom, because if I hadn't known the theme of the week I would've never know they were trying to be old people.
I'm old but I'm still fit seems like a cop out
So Mistress should be winning next cap? Hopefully, cuz this week she was my favorite and has been doing amazing lately, but has not a win yet
I absolutely loved the total drama Katie and Sadie reference!
tbh I really don’t like when a queen’s design challenge runway is just a swimsuit. Like why don’t they get read for that?
"that botoom place was unjustified?" Are you high? She had the worse look on that runway LOL
The runways are some my favorite parts of the show, and it felt like this episode they gave more screen time to the judges jokes, which I couldn’t care less about. This combined with the bad judging made the latter half of the episode suck so hard I forgot how good the first was (even with the amazing lip sync, bc it wasn’t deserved)
If this continues, my hopes for this season are in the drain…
Loved the Katy and Sadie reference! Xx
Omg not you making a total drama reference, i love it
we're back to 90 minute episodes on march 10th im so excited
I didn’t realize jack was a TDI fan
honestly the season became one of the best when it came back to 60 minutes, i wish that cut in episode length never happened because this could've been the best season ever
People saying “the queens shouldn’t have spent that much money in the first place” is like saying “maybe da’Vinci shoulda used crayon 🙄”
Just came back after this weeks episode and...
WELP..........
A part of me is wondering if they're 'spreading out wins' in order to make it seem like there's no clear fav, when there is based on the edit. I do think Sasha Colby is the clear frontrunner based on the edits. Mistress is definitely up there too.
Omg I was thinking about the Katie and Sadie edit. Crazy someone else was too lol
Aura’s win made zero sense but good for her.
i really like when people not considered 'frontrunners' get wins, but damn could they not have given aura a more favorable edit? anyway, thank you for the good video! i hope this season picks up in the coming weeks :c
Well Jack, you called it. Aura went home the next episode!
Sasha Colby:
*Passes Gas*
Gay CZcamsrs:
"Iconic 👏👏👏"
I hate to say, but the judging of this episode just wasn’t it - the top 3 itself was not fully correct - sasha, yes, but the other 2 should’ve been Salina and Loosey, as they were both the next best after sasha, giving the win to Salina, which not only would’ve been incredibly justified but also setting up a story for Salina
bye bye 40min episodes 🥰
i fully agree with you. i did not see aura winning this episode, because everything was set up for sasha to win. but i have a feeling they are trying to make a side storyline, because they still have too many queens and they have to fill the show, which would be fine if THE EPISODES WERE LONGER!!! but now there is just too much content and context missing.
Damn producers!!
I was not prepared for the Total Drama callback. God I love that show
I think if we had 90 minute episodes we would've gotten more confessionals and story for aura which would allow us to appreciate her win better.
The Sadie edit omg
Spice saying Aura should have been in the eliminated instead of sugar and then Aura winning while Spice would have been eliminated would have make a great storyline (and it was not hard to justify a bottom placement for Spice in the girl group challenge).
If Jack stans Aura, I stan Aura. It's that simple 😌
Also for season 7 plz talk about how ppl thought Katya was gonna be a knock-off Willam or how impactful Tempest Dujour's elimination was (since it was the first time the audience got to see the behind the scenes through the untucked format change, showing how literally as soon as the eliminated queen leaves the stage they can hear the rest of the queens dancing on the stage)
Ooooo girl I hope you revisit this topic bc 💀 aura had a full 180 done on her but that’s all imma say til people get caught up for the next upcoming episode😭
8:43 why is Lala Ri with the s15 girls 🤣🤣
Omg that’s what I think when I think of the twin Katie and Sadie
I dont always think that all is "RIGGORY" but this win is a totally WTF, yes its like Jorgeous all over again. Obviously the producers dont give a f about what the audience may think/say they just want people talking. This was for Sasha alright. At least the lipsync was fire, S15 left crums and a bittersweet aftertaste exactly like AS7.
I see you with the Miss Fame reference 😏 "it'll make sense later"
But it’s not a “satisfying win” when the person turns around & goes home the very next week.
Here's my over analysis...
I think what made season 15's sleeper win feel more jarring is that Aura was fully in the background for the episode. It focused heavily on Mistress, Sasha, and Malaysia. AND it was also done in an episode where they had 2 teams fighting for a role. Good storytelling would have had the two teams butt heads, one team is forced to choose the inferior option, but then that team would excel and win the challenge. The team that was able to get the role they wanted would fail and land in the bottom. The third team would just remain safe. But that didn't happen whatsoever. Both fighting teams were fairly good (and more of a surprise that all the country girls aside from Mistress were safe) whilst the team that had no airtime was majority in the bottom. The challenge results and the intended story didn't match and made it more jarring.
With season 14 it had the benefit of it being an individual challenge where no one had to fight for a certain role. Secondly, there were some hints to Jorgeous's win in that before the runway, she had to rework her whole idea kind of hinting that she could land in the bottom. So when she gets on the runway and you see she has a presentable garment. The jarring part comes in where her outfit randomly wins, but there was a storyline happening there in that she had a problem, fixed it, then won. Season 15 had no story to it whatsoever and it felt like a competition where this one person just shined in that challenge.
the disclaimer hits strangly, considering this video is the length of 1/3 episode or so
