Nice video of Cog Train. I just posted one taken from same location, only I was in the car that was stopped on the siding waiting for the moving train to pass.
@HumGuitar Hello,to answer your question of three years ago about an accident on the Cog Railway..Yes,there was an accident on September 17th,1967 where I believe eight people were killed and scores injured. For some reason the switch did not work and the train car rolled backwards and went off the tracks, plummeting 30 feet into a rock and onto its side. The car was supposedly overloaded because the people thought it was the last car of the day going down the mountain,it was not the last car.
1929, they ran the first ever cogged engine up these parts. However the cog broke a tooth, seeing as it was the only one on the engine. She ran backwards out of conrtol, and plunged into a ravine taking the life of a cameraman who went back to retieve his camera. Another on happened in the 70's, when the big switch was tampered with, and sent a train off the rails. Since then, those points were made to be "impossible to screw up." And yeah, those are the only 2 incidents on the cog.
