I want a video of how you change the bedding on the upper bunk.
love the story behind the rug
the folk wall paper is so darn cute! I love all of the elements in that room. Great job!!
Thanks so much! 😊
Agree!! Cutest room in the house is the blue bunk room!
Clever, wonderful use of the Ikea slats as a headboard! That's the kind of repurposing I love. The rug seems not to be deployed at its best in that room where most of it is covered. I appreciate its "provenance" and development, but as shown it looks like a camo design.
HEY!!! Don’t you love it when things and ideas come together unexpectedly making it all AWESOME! I love how you put your “thriftiness” to work. The rooms are beautiful...Love it💖
Thanks so much! 😊
love love love....that headboard is epic
I'm glad you like it!
Great use of space Sarah!
HAIL to the QUEEN of IKEA HACKS! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the guest rooms. The bunks reflect how kids always use bunks regardless of an avail ladder. Love the side tables. Yet would want a mirror on the console table if I were a guest. As usual BEAUTIFUL FUNCTIONAL WORK SARAH.💕💕💕💕💕💕
I love this. Mind you I’ve loved watching Sarah for so long. Room service was the show that had me hooked. Timeless yet modern and classic all at the same time. I have always loved the fact that she mixed the ‘new with the old’ so to speak. And working with what you had without the need to spend a lot to get a lot. Thank you Sarah for all your design magic all these years. Cannot wait to see what’s next.
Love the vertical “slotwall” and the blue color!
Im glad you love it!
Love the bunk room… and I loved the guest room except for the rug…. It looks like camouflage… I loved your daughters painting maybe with different colors.
The Minister of Interiors' idea was incredible. It is my favorite room so far. Not only are the colors beautiful, But it feels like a homey and comfortable room for children. I am especially liking the "stepping block" to get to the top bed. Watched the video twice while writing down notes since I was so inspired.
Thank you so much!
You are influencing the next generation. My granddaughter is visiting from Lake Placid, NY. (She is half Canadian). Now she likes your channel. Thanks
Aw, thanks!
Imagine being 9 years old on vacation and you open the door to this bunk bed room...Angels sing! You know you're going to try rolling out of the top bunk onto that huge bed below! 😉♥️
Love the wall paper hate the rug. Agree, I thought it was cammo too.
I really enjoy everything you do. I’ve watch many shows like this and I wouldn’t let any of the touch my apartment. The things they do, for the most part, is hideous. We get Design Inc and your other show and I’ve learned so much. Thanks for sharing your expertise!🙂
Wow, thank you!
Lots of clever ideas! You don't have to have a lot to achieve a lot...words to decorate by! The rug is gorgeous, really adds something special to the room.
Thanks so much! 😊
“I get distracted when I see pretty things.” her enthusiasm is contagious. 😊 The wallpaper is off the charts. You’re Minister of Interiors saved the day in the bunk room. I could just eat that room, it’s so yummy. As you would say. The guest room is Devine. Your idea for the headboard should be a new item in your line. Bravo! The cabinet knobs...leave it to Sarah to turn scraps and the unexpected into sensational. Everything Sarah touches turns to perfection. Love it, all of it!
Oh thank you!
Love the Scandinavian vibe of the bunk room! 💗
The bathtub 🛀 ♥ 😍
Love, love, love the guest room. Using what you have on hand makes you be super creative and that headboard was fantastic. Loved the slot wall and the pure genius of the bunk beds. Your channel is awesome!
Love the bunk room colors and the wallpaper ❣️ seeing your vision come to life is like seeing an artists painting in a museum ❣️💐💝
Thank you so much Della!
Boat bunks are the best. This room is great fun. And tons of pretty too!
We agree!
Lovely😍
Thanks 🤗
The bunk room came out AMAZE! The wallpaper feels sophisticated yet super fun! Your Minister or Exteriors really did you a solid with his idea! 💯👌🏾 wish we could have seen the lights on in the bunks! 💡
Thanks Chris! I'm glad you liked the bunk room! Stay tuned though as I've got even more great content on the way I'm sure you'll love!
I now have a sudden desire to wallpaper. Well done 💕
Yay!
So wonderful!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Yup we bought the book "Collected" this week. Love it! 😊 Great production here with the ranch!
Awesome! Thank you!
The rooms are so soft and pretty. My favorite ... the rug designed from your daughter’s water color painting .
Thank you!
Love the bunk room! So pretty and fun.
No no no to the rug. It looks like camouflage fabric. Love the room though.
Cutest wallpaper! 💙
I think so too!
bunk room beds..how do you make those beds// love ALL your designs
Glad you love them Dee! Whatever is missing from the video can be found on my website! The bunk bed article is here: www.sarahrichardsondesign.com/get-inspired/makeovers/2020/06/26/retro-ranch-reno-bunk-room
I really appreciate the way design ideas can be super attractive and economical! Great use of materials that would normally be tossed into the recycle bin! Thank you for sharing another fantastic design!
Thanks for watching!
Very nice and loads of great ideas! My Fella prefers a low bed. ( I’m learning to embrace it), and I like the wood detail in the first guest room. The blue in the Bunk room is so soft and restful🥰. Another hit, Sarah!
Thanks for watching!
Love this CZcams series. Your style is chic, comfortable and timeless. Thank you for the tips and inspo. You will get to 250K subscribers before you know it. Love the interaction between you and the Minister of the Exteriors. 🤗
A re-upload, because why not watch it twice?! 😊
Bradon Austria-Llagas - Sarah's just _convinced_ that only watching once... we've missed _something_ somewhere. 😆😆 She missed that tiny storage space, in the front entryway! It's driving my OCD _crazy_ too. 😂😂😂 *hugz from Canada 🤗🇨🇦
Oh that explains why my comment is gone I guess.
I love painted brick.
I did mine, that color, 2 years ago!
Love it!
Did I miss something? Where’s the painted brick?
Anonymous Anonymous in the beginning, you can see it very briefly.
I love it too! Wait until you see the house in full!
So nice! I'm all about "Earth tones", this house is one with the earth !!! love it so much!!! Love bunk rooms, have used closets for extra room space. Yours is so cozy!!!
All I can think about is how awkward it would be to get down from the upper bunk to go to the bathroom in the night. I envision falling onto whomever is laying in the lower bed. Seems like something else could be done rather than the for hold.
I'm thinking the same thing & it seems dangerous & no railing to keep from falling out. Sorry I'd rather have a proper way to get up & a smaller bed underneath with proper places to put things. I need several things by my bed. I don't know what the obsession is with queen & king size beds is. Everything associated with them is expensive & they take up too much space.
Not to mention trying to change the sheets on that top bunk! Ugh!
Crazy about the cozy nook beds......I'm 65 and I'd sleep in that room!!!! Not just for kids!
I'm glad you love them Judy!
This is a great idea with two beds, the room is just transformed.Wardrobe and bedside tables with unusual handles from the legs are just super, you are just good!I really liked the rooms, they are very cozy!I have been following your projects for a long time, but sometimes I don't have enough translation into Russian, but I understand you!!!Thanks!!!
Thanks for watching!
Finally some color. I was beginning to think the entire house was going to be gray and white.
LOVED it! Really inviting. The colors are superb. The wallpaper is exceptional. Thank you Sarah.
Glad you like it!
The ideas you guys came up with for both room's are amazing. If I were a kid I'd definitely be in the top bunk
Thank you!
The first thing I said when the video started was “WHERE IS THE HEADBOARD FROM?” And lo and behold it was so cheap and easy to recreate! You have the best ideas Sarah! Can’t wait to see what the next project is going to be!
Hehehe happy it inspired you!
Beautiful color palette in bunk room, but I want to see someone climb in and out of the upper bunk.
Wish you showed us _inside_ that little closet in the bunk room. Oh, how big inside & what hardware did you use, on that storage space door, in that front entry? Might you consider making a video on the storage spaces you've kept hidden? They don't have to be pretty, we've _all_ got ugly storage _somewhere._ 🤣 Thanks for this channel. *hugz from da maritimes eh by. 🤗🇨🇦
An episode on storage space would be a great idea! Similar to my desk video here: czcams.com/video/yin-Cql4_O8/video.html
Hi Sarah, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the elements of these two rooms. I am wondering though if you could go in to further detail about the square quad lining the baseboards where the new floating floor meets the skirting? I really like the square quad profile that you have used and am wondering if you can show how to quad meets the corners and door frames also. I'd like to repeat this in my own renovation.
I love the idea of reusing left overs. After all these years I have so many left over Ikea parts that I'm constantly trying to figure out how to reuse them. Those damn Lack tables... If only I could figure out what to turn those into 😁
Hey Sheena! I'm glad you liked the episode! I'm sure you could come up with something great! Try looking online and see what inspires you!
Ikea has the best chairs. Love the serene feeling each of these rooms exudes. Thanks for the cost savings tips. Absolutely beautiful.
Glad you like them!
Wow Wow and Wow,..Sarah,..bedroom #1, like common on now,...your genius switch is Never turned off,...Love the head board,..Love the wallpaper, and the creation of the rug form your Daughters art work,..well,...that is just over the top fabulous! bedroom #2, the genius continues with those fabulous bunk beds,..Kudos to the minister of Exteriors! Well Done!,..love the wallpaper in this room as well,....such a great job Sarah once again,..thakyou So Much for sharing!!! PS where did you get that oh so cute top your wearing?
Thank you so much!
Amazing! Honestly Sarah, you never disappoint.
Aw, thank you!
thAT HEADBOARD IS AWESOME!!!!!
Thank you Linda!
Would love, love, love it if “slotwall!” kicked ship lap to to curb 😂 💙 🇨🇦 😎
Maybe we should do an episode on "Shiplap Versus Slotwall!"?
I thought it was comaflouge...lol...but I didn't have my glasses on..it is pretty.
Me too! I like the pattern but think maybe different colors would suit it better. Maybe it's just what we can see on screen that makes it look that way, maybe in person it's better.
Ha....me too....hahahahaha....
And to climb up to the bunk bed by standing on the bed below?!!
I LOVE that bunk room!!
Thank you Jo! I love it too!
How do you make your bed on the top bunk? Is there enough height when you stand on the lower bed?
Lol neat idea
You’re a genius! Wish I had your creative brain 😊
Hey! Thank you so much! Don't sell yourself short! I bet you could put together something amazing! If you're ever looking for inspiration check out my website www.sarahrichardsondesign.com! There's a ton of great makeovers, tips and finds! Happy designing!
Until you explained the rug, I thought it was camo
Haha! Me too! When she said "guess who designed the rug" I thought "a hunter?"
I thought that too!! Does not look like water colour art
Janice Ingle same here
Janice Ingle me too! I was kind of put off by the rug... even after she explained it... people are going to walk in and say Cammo??
Love the color scheme.
Thank you!
Lovely bedrooms! 💕💕💕
Thank you! 🤗
So good Sarah.
Thank you Linda!
The beds are clever, but so low to the ground, how do you clean all the dust bunnies underneath them?
i don't get it sarah....That person on the upper bunk will be jumping on the person below...
2 questions - Would you talk/video a little more about the window coverings? I do not get the principle idea about how they were created from curtains! Then there is the question, how did you hang the wall-mounted cabinets used as nightstands? How are they attached? Thanks. I am presently watching again all your earlier shows on DABL. I can't get enough! I love your work!
Sarah you and your team have done it again. I absolutely love how you re-purpose and utilize what you have it’s just fantastic. The wallpapers are gorgeous the rug inspired by Robin is so special. The fantastic idea of the bunk and queen bed Genius!
I just love it all! I wondering about two things; When putting a bed up against the window do you need to worry about how that looks from the outside or is that on the back of the house? Secondly I noticed that you are using those rounded mirrors throughout the house so far and I love it and I just wondered if that was something that would only be appropriate in a rental house or if you could do it in home you live in?
Shara got skills for tha new modern look, she be hooking rooms up.have your house looking like a hotel.not old school, but new school.
Thank you so much Margo! I appreciate the comment and kind words! As for your questions It depends on the space and the window itself. As for the mirrors, of course you can use them in the home you live in. You can find the source guide for the mirrors as well as all the other items in each room on my website www.sarahrichardsondesign.com!
Nice crisp room, though I prefer a bed with longer legs. Short legs collect dust underneath the bed that can’t be vacuumed.
I'm glad you liked the room M R! Interesting tip about the short legs!
Sarah Richardson In addition to dust bunnies, what about the marbles, Barbie shoes and Skittles that roll under the short-legged bed? I thought you had kids?! 😂
So pretty.
Thank you! 😊
I like how you were ingenious with space utilization. However, I am not a fan of the colors selected for the camo rug.
Hey Peggy! Thanks for the comment! Sorry you didn't like the rug colours however that rug is one of MANY in my new collection with Palliser that's coming soon. If you'd like more information on that please click here: sarahrichardson.palliser.com/
@@SarahRichardsonDsgn Hi Sarah - I did look at your collection of rugs and they are all great designs with many color possibilities. Now I need more bare floors for a few of your rugs. Thanks!
Does the wall paper in the bigger guest bedroom with the camouflage looking rug go all the way around the room? Didn’t get to see the wall by the door so was just wondering. Really enjoyed some of the “use what you’ve got” ideas as I love a good thrift flip. Also why only one lamp on the queen-size bunk? But bravo loved the mirrors to frame the bed side cabinets. Just loved all the character in these rooms more than the entry and the kitchen area
Thank you! I'm so glad you loved the rooms! Yes it does cover the room. If you ever want to know more about a specific room I've designed know that I post an article for every room with extra photography and complete source guides! you can find the guest room here: sarahrichardsondesign.com/get-inspired/makeovers/2020/06/26/retro-ranch-reno-guest-bedroom
Where are the heat sources for the rooms. I would love to put my guest bed under the window but the heat registers are always located there.
Sarah what does the outside look like, I saw some painted black brick and I am in love. What does the rest of the outside look like????🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
I'm sure we will see it in one of the 'upcoming' reveals. She did mention 'staining' the brick. I want to see what she did with the bar so I can order my ikea cabinets for my basement bar; totally stealing your ideas Sarah!
Sorry to keep you waiting Leslie but you'll just have to wait and see in the reveal episodes! I promise you'll get to see it soon enough though!
wonderful Sarah, I love it.
May I ask you a question. I have a land I intend to build it as a chalet. I want to make the interior design around nautical or beachy theme. What would be the best window frame color for the chalet. I am thinking white, but I also like the black. Do you think the black frame will go well with the nautical/beachy theme (colors will mostly be dark blue, soft blue and white).
Thanks.
Ms.Sarah,
How does the person sleeping on the top bunk get Up there?🙄😊
I've been following you for years and it's been fun watching your design evolve! I may have missed the answer to this, but is this house going to be a vacation rental, or permanent rental? Either way, is this the actual furniture that will be included with the house? I'd be terrified to rent the house with all that wonderful white furniture to strangers!
So if you're in that top bunk bed & need a wee i the night, you have to climb down onto someone else sleeping below & wake them up. Too matchy matchy with the colour schemes for my taste but cute scandinavian ideas.
Are the shades custom or off the rack?
Beautiful rooms but in the white room where do your guests put theirs stuff?
Thanks Janet! Unfortunately the camera only captured one side. There's enough storage for guests! at 6:33 and 8:33 you can see the closet doors.
This is the same show as the last one!
How do you get to the top bunk
Oh
sorry not a fan of the bunk. no railing and ladder for one. but also how can the person get up and down without jumping on the person under it? also can you sit on the bottom bed without hitting your head? top bunk looks really low.
When putting bed under the window, what about heaters? I would like to do this but there is a wall mounter heater that blows warm air. Input? 🤓
I have same problem should heater be moved? Sarah, any ideas how much that costs?
@@mgmfan1 That's expensive no matter where you live. Most designers don't put a bed in front of a window. I'd also have a problem if there was a fire & that's the only way out. It'd be hard to do with that bed (which I do like) in front of the window. Sometimes form & safety needs to take top consideration over just the "pretty" stuff.
Sarah, I have a question for you. I am an art teacher moving into a new classroom, and I want to paint the walls white. I have Ikea Kallax furniture, and I don't want it to look dingy against the paint. I also only have one small window facing north. What paint color would you recommend? I am on a very limited budget, and do not have $ to repaint a mistake. Thanks so much!
Great room, bad rug.
The bunk room turned out so pretty and functional. I'm sorry, but I didn't like your design choices in the guest room.
Not for hold...toe hold. Ugh, autocorrect.
Someone needs to style Sarah!! She has an amazing figure, but wears some seriously tacky tops and coats!
