This was the last song I was able to record/film before I had my son. He arrived earlier than planned, so I had to call the arrangement done even though there were some things I still wanted to try. I must admit, though, there is something quite somber and just... natural and human, about it being simple. I love this song by Leonard Cohen (and especially the Jeff Buckley cover) I hope you enjoy it!

The atmosphere, the choice of songs, her voice... ALL of it goes together in such a perfect way, that I genuinely think that we should recommend Maluak for a Nobel Peace Prize.
I can't demonstrate any warring nations, that negotiated a peaceful resolution, which wouldn't have been possible without the interjection of Malukah. Instead, the songs on her channel make me feel peaceful. They make me feel at ease. And THAT is saying something, considering that I'm a sociopath and- normally- the only time I ever feel peaceful, is when I'm coming down off of ludicrous amounts of drugs. I suspect that at times like that, there's a window of about 12 hours, where my brain chemistry is neurotypical. In other words, I'm able to feel like a 'normal' person at those times, because I've RADICALLY altered the balance of neurochemicals in my brain.

It is beauftiful - I suggest to listen to the version by K.D. Lang, which is also extremely well done - the only version that was approved by the maestro himself. She sang it for his inauguration into the hall of fame.

I love this version! She's also one of the few performers of this song who resists the urge to raise an octave when doing the Hallelujah part on one or more of the verses. Beautiful!

I think some covers of this song have been used in a "religious" context, mainly because it says "hallelujah" and the overall hymnal-style arrangement. But if you listen to the original words of Leonard Cohen, it's a song about sexual/romantic desire and loss. It's a great song, just people don't really listen to the lyrics.

This is one of those songs that is incredibly simple so simple that most artists fuck it up because they add unessisary embellishments to the song and it ruins the the feel of the song but you like always did it perfectly.
I love this song and I'm sure you sing it wonderfully. But I can't listen to it. Not now. Maybe in a few months, maybe in a year. My adoptive mother loved Hallelujah, but listening to it reminds me of her. Right now, it hurts to much.
But I look forward to the point where I can listen to it and think of the joy it would have brought her to her you sing this. Thank you, Malukah.

I have heard this song covered so many times by many great artists, and been disappointed by every one. Too many people don't understand the song. They make it whinny or give it some religious fervor. They sing the words, but do not feel them. I see Malukah, whom I generally enjoy, present a cover and I think, "Oh, no. I'm not going to like it." Thank you, Malukah, for proving me wrong. This is the best cover of this song I have heard, dare I say even than Tim Buckley's cover? I dare say. Thank you for that most joyous listening experience. :)

Always loved this song and your version is wonderful and touching.
Sorry it took so long to watch this, but with finals I didn't have a good chance to sit and give this a proper listen.
So many covers of this song give me goosebumps, but this one gave me variable goosebumps. Starting with subtle ones then ones that hit my spine with the more powerful parts of the song.
