Why doesn’t the movie follow the canon story line? It had so much potential and could’ve made so much more money like omg😭

It made 130 million this weekend on a budget of 20 million dollars. It made nearly 5 times back its budget, and frankly that is a box-office success. It's like a new canon based on the games canon. Making it 1-1 would have been silly.
To set up the sequels better and to give the characters proper motivations.
The movie is the way Scott cawthon wanted to tell the story before there was more games and the story got complicated
