- Gheorghe "Gică" Hagi, born 5 February 1965) is a Romanian former professional footballer, considered one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe during the 1980s and '90s and the greatest Romanian footballer of all time. Galatasaray fans called him "Comandante" ("The Commander") and Romanians call him "Regele" ("The King").
Nicknamed "The Maradona of the Carpathians", Hagi is considered a hero in his homeland. He was named Romanian Footballer of the Year seven times, and is regarded as one of the best football players of his generation. As a creative advanced playmaker, he was renowned for his dribbling, technique, vision, passing and finishing.

Actually think he’s underrated. He was an extremely talented player and almost carried teams on his own.
he actually did, he carried Romania to the quarter finals in world, where they got unlucky with Sweeden and lots but still they won with Argentina that had Batitusta and Maradona and he still carried Galatasaray being at the moment one of their icons

his main problem was that he kinda cracked under pressure, average at Real, average at Barca, shined with Lucescu in Italy is Serie B and Serie A, then again very good at Galata, but then again cracked in UEFA final (they won though) and he over all kinda had a bad temper and was getting angry quite fast. If he had a better mental he would have been one of the top players ever

Terrific player. One of my earliest footballing memories was watching him light up the World Cup with Romania in 1994.
One of the best of all time ofcourse and the best long range goal scorer of all time. 30+ meter range, no one was better. Such an accurate and heavy shot from a distance.

As a native Romanian, I remember watching his matches for Steaua Bucharest in the 80s, I was a kid back then, watching with my dad on national television. Gică Hagi treated us to many goals from over 30m distance back then too :) It's so cool seeing how effortless he makes it look. As if his left leg were on a metal railway or something :)

Where the fuck does his power come from? Sometimes he snipes goals with little to no run up.. wtf... Pretty much a stand still cannon 🤯
His technique is fantastic.He knows where and how to hit the ball so it almost doesn't spin and it doesn't loose speed because of the centrifuge force, instead it acts like one shot from a cannonball.Also this gives it that unexpected trajectory that fools the goalkeepers who expect it to go out. I haven't seen anyone do this with so much ease and score so many literally impossible goals because of the ball's weird trajectory.
