    Recently I've have been looking to purchase a handry of my own and I was wondering what layout you use.
    Also if anyone else can comment on what they consider to be the best lay out for G/C/Acc and/or D/G/Acc.
    Thankyou

      There's some info about my layouts here: www.paulyoungfolk.co.uk/layouts
      Generally, the more buttons you have, the less it matters if your box is GC, DG, or whatever else. If you're already more familiar with one then stick to that.

    Beautiful playing, I could get lost in it! I noticed at 50 seconds in that you pressed down one of the four little buttons in front of your basses, what do those do? I've noticed them on a few Castagnari models I believe, but I thought they were just cosmetic!

      Opens a set of reeds. Sounds like an octave down (8vb).

    Is any of the teaching material on your website in English?

    This is played on a GCF Castagnari Handry 18 Bass to be precise, although I don't think the F row is used.

      What makes you think it's a GCF?

    • @e.miller8943
      @e.miller8943 Před 2 lety

      I googled it. Of course it has 3 rows so being a GC wouldn't make sense.

      Ok. So this box is what we call "G/C/accidentals". The outside rows are in G and C and the inner row just has all the other notes to allow playing in other keys. GCF boxes also exist and are common for Mexican and Bavarian music, but this style of French/European/Balfolk is usually played on a GC box with a row of accidentals, whcih is why I refer to it here as a GC. Hope that helps.
