Toon wrote "Hellebore" as an exercise for a bagpipe workshop. "Just a little tune for practice, nothing special..." A year later, it appeared on there CD as a groovy track. Compliments on the excellent version by the two of you! I love using your music as a backing track when exercising my own bagpipe playing.

An advice if you want a Hohner standard melodeon... but first, thank you Paul for explaining and sharing your experience with these fantastic instrument... now, if you are intrested in a standard melodeon from Hohner, you can receive a reedblock set (discant and bass) in any tune for 150€ from the Hohner online shop. These sets fit almost plug and play in 2915 Pokerwork and Presswod and Erica and Corso. The instruments itselfes are cheap. You can buy them in good condition from 50 to 150€. for example in Kleinanzeigen. Of corse the reeds are not first quality for this money, but also not very bad. I payed 50€ for my Pokerwork in A/D and fitted the Hohner reedblocks in D/G for 150€. I did no tuning afterwards (untill now) but it works well. Happy to have the same standard melodeon as Paul for the price of 200€. If you go this way and search an instrument it does no matter how it is tuned and if it is tuned and playable. That makes it easyer, but we want a good basic instrument. So my tip, look in the pictures at the belly, if buttons and keyboard are complet and if there are no holes from worms in the wood. If the belly is in good condition, i would say mostimes the instrument is good too. Look at the belly especially to the down- and the inner side and if the corners are comlete. If so its a good sign. But dont foget to ask the seller for his opinion to the condition of the instrument. Smaller (and bigger) repairs can be done DIY, with low budged and much fun... good luck!

I have a Troubadour 21 button box accordion. How do I find out what key it is - I picked it up at a thrift store so know nothing about it.

This is absolutely fantastic! Exactly what I need to get me out of a rut. I've played for years but find it hard to divert from the tune. I do 'crunchy' cross basing and chords in the right. I use a lot of bounce with my bellows and what I call bellows 'snap-off' but little else. Maybe it's my autism but I need help breaking out of the rut. Do you do any more of thse tutorials? Alexxx

Cheers Paul great info :) I got a Saltarelle Awen B/C box couple of yrs ago I got into some old time/ bluegrass fiddle tune lately playing them on the box , Anglo Concertina & Irish Cittern. The traditionalist will go out of their minds 'You can't play these bluegrass tunes on a Box are you Nuts ! Playing this Bill Cheatham fiddle tune in A ''I can't this one double stops F# A on the B/C Box yeah I can go around it. But it's so cool with these full double stops. So I was thinking maybe buying a Saltarelle Laurentides ADG Box would work not just for Irish ,American Fiddle tunes some jazz & Beatles tunes. Cheers Paul :)

A little confused about part A right hand, are you playing the G# on the push at the same time as the E chord? Maybe your GC is set up differently?

really nice :) are you perhaps planning to do recorded lesson for this one? can play by ear on melodeon but always find the right hand shortcuts and left hand direction super useful - its a beautiful song.
