Thanks for the review.
It helped in my choosing the vehicle.
Awesome man thanks. Glad I could help
Awesome video. You covered a lot, and I like that you actually showed us basically everything you spoke about. Nice to see someone speak normally and calmly, not these gimmicky guys that just sound like salesmen lol
Thank you. This maybe the kindest comment I have gotten yet. I'm def just a normal guy.
Thank you for this video I appreciate it.
I have a 2021 Tacoma pro manual on order coming in April and I was thinking about switching to a gladiator and this is helping me make my decision.
Thank you for the nice comment
Tacoma trd pros in manual are Super rare and ridiculously reliable they also hold their value. I would go for the Trd Pro
@@mariorios8783 the only way a tacoma would be a good use for me is if i could take the doors and roof off. wranglers hold their value more. u also dont buy a vehicle for their value, they all depreciate.
Very helpful. Thank you. I am really wanting to buy a gladiator. I had a Jeep when I was a kid (1974 CJ5) and it was my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. I did a lot of off-roading with it, but I probably will not be doing any more hard-core stuff with with gladiator. Light off-roading for camping, etc. Your review was really helpful. (p.s., "molle is pronounced "molly". I had a bit of trouble figuring out what you were describing... lol)
Thank you for watching and the nice comment. I have gotten the Molle comment quite a bit and deep down I knew that but couldn't get it out of my head. hahaha. Keep me posted if you end up getting one.
Great review! I have a 2021 Willy's now for about 7 months and it looks like they improved on nearly every one of these "dislikes" Except maybe the passenger side space. I am loving mine!
Awesome. What are the major differences outside of the fixes? Anything major aesthetically?
Thx for this I'm looking at a 2022 not sure on gas or diesel. Appreciate the review!
Appreciate you watching and the nice comment
Thx for this informative review. You review helps me make up my mind in getting this for my wife💪🏽💯
Awesome. Thanks for watching and the nice comments
Thank you for the video. I bought a billet silver Gladiator Rubicon manual last Saturday. Traded a Silverado RST with the 6.2 for it. Very happy with the vehicle. I am impressed by how tight all the parts are fitted. Feels very solid. I needed a manual so much that I was willing to lose a V8 for it. It sometimes takes ownership over a period of time to find out what one really wants.
Congratulations and thanks for the nice comment. I agree with you on the quality of the build. I loved mine while I had it. The cab is a bit smaller than han what you are probably used to but the manual transmission has to be fun
Everything u said was in point i have the sport and the steering is pretty lose but I love my jeep and its my first new car too ...once again I like your review
Thank you so much for the nice comments. Keep me posted on ur mods
Awesome video ! I have a 2008 BMW 550i which has been super great to me for 4 years with some minor mandatory maintenance but it's time to get something new. I'm looking to get a gladiator so I can haul stuff, put a karting(go kart) in the back, take it off-road and so on.
Awesome we come from similar backgrounds. I love mine and love what I can do in it and with it
Thanks for this! I test drove an automatic sport a few months back and then I test drove a manual Mojave. The manual Mojave is what I fell in love with. So obviously they are different, I didn’t feel the drift in the 2021 Mojave like I did the 2020 sport S. Could be that it’s a manual as well...but yeah. I look forward to joining the community! I will be leaving a Hyundai Elantra hatchback...so a big difference.
Awesome Terrel. Sorry it took me so long to respond, life has gotten in the way lately. Let me know your thoughts after a few months down the road.
@@HaulYT I completely get it. Thanks for responding!
I just bought the 2021 sport s with auto and max tow!! The steering is great great i guess jeep fixed it for 21. I love the jeep! Just came from the taco and i can tell you hands down buy the jeep no comparison. This i my first Jeep and now i understand why people love them! the Tacoma auto shifting was terrible and felt sluggish i really wanted to like it but when your wife says it feels slow must be a dog!! I took a hit on my 2022 Tacoma 4x4 v6 base with auto. suspension was also very soft.
The jeep did cost me 12k more but so worth it!!
Great review :) I have a 2021 a buddy of mine bought a 2020 that was still on lot. He drove both mine and his and stated the 21 had better steering. He contacted dealership was told the newer models have a steel steering box. The 20' had aluminum which caused the drifting. Dealership told him bring it in they replaced it with the newer steering box and it drives much better.
No it will not handle like a Porsche, but my stock Rubicon with 33's drives just about the same as my last truck a 2016 Tacoma with 33'
Thanks for the feedback and a Jeep wave to you and your buddy
Great review I have a 2022 Gladiator and really like it and I have no steering issues.
Thank you and that is great
Nice, easy to watch, to the points review. I've had various new Wranglers up the 16 JK Hard Rock and various Rams up to the 20 Limited. I keep circling the Gladiator and am getting much closer to finally ordering one. It's just trying to get out of the only a Wrangler with more interior room or a Ram with a real size truck bed mode versus the gladiator with smaller interior then Wrangler and smaller bed than Ram.
As per the diesel engine, the eco diesel engines haven't done so well in the Ram trucks, many having issues at low miles. Also, the 100k plus 2014-19 Rams with eco diesel engines recalled for coolant leaks/possible fires.
So, might be best to still wait a few years out to see how they do in the Gladiator. Thanks again for the well put together review of the Gladiator after having it for a year.
Yea Dean that is tough. It does good job at combining the truck life with jeep life but it has disadvantages for each group.
Great honest review!
Thank you Brent Walker.
Thank you for this video!!
Thank you for watching and the kind words
I would like the option of only a two door with a longer truck bed.
That would look crazy amazing.
Got my jeep gladiator back in December, best truck/ car I ever own. Doors off top off in the summer. Doors off in the fall, first day of a snow storm we going doors off. The ride is like no other and the staring is perfect, people complain about it being loose I live in Jersey with the Roads are unbearable and it's perfect. If you ever hit a pothole at a decent speed your steering wheel start shaking left to right the Jeep handle it like a champ!
Congrats man glad you are enjoying it. What mods have you done so far?
@@HaulYT none so far, just some rail doors for that open air experience and a jeep gladiator rain jacket just in case you got caught in the rain with your top and doors off. For me something you can modify a vehicle to much that it look weird, each it's own .its that old saying, once you go jeep you have to have one! This is definitely an adult toy you can modify you your own personality. I see why they keep their value and age like fine wine.
Great review! Thinking about going from a Honda Civic to the Gladiator or a Bronco. I’ll definitely take these points as a make my decision.
Thank you for the kind words. Let me know what you think of the Bronco after your test drive. They are cool looking machines as well.
I had Honda n I went n bought a Jeep gladiator. Great Jeep
Actually the Sport with the Max Tow package has the highest towing capacity among the models - not the Overland. Sport Max Tow has a 4:10 gear ratio for better towing. Also, factory trailer brake controller is now FINALLY available. Thanks for the good review.
Thanks so much for the feedback. Great to hear about the trailer braking system
Which model can be ordered with the factory trailer brake controller?
@@dantimber That would be the Gladiator, which now has that option.
@@dantimber it looks like it can be purchased for all models and can be retrofitted to the models the 2020's that are already on the road. States that the part is $299.00 without labor.
The gas for towing is crap. If your towing 5-6k with it, your sitting in high 4-5k RPM going up steep grades which is really bad for any engine, and no ability to accelerate. If you want to tow, get the diesel. Sure its 1k less towing ability, however that is negligible when it comes to what kind of trailer to get. 1k lbs wont make a huge difference on the trailer size. At best you will increase your trailer length by like 1 foot which isn't much.
Nice honest review.
Thank you.
the fact that the Wrangler and Gladiator have so much character and heritage means a lot when there are so many jellybean SUVs out on the road. My only concern is the steering feel that you mentioned. I know it's due to the solid axle up front but just not sure if I can live with that...
I hear ya ST. The later models have the upgraded steering box and you can get the 2020 upgraded through Jeep so it shouldn't be a problem.
For a channel that only has roughly 600 subs, you definitely have one of the best reviews out on the internet. A lot of the other likes/dislikes reviews skip over fine details such as the wheel tightness. Would have never known most of the things you said about the gladiator if it wasn't for you. Thanks, man!
Well, Zach you just won the prize for the nicest comment in this thread. Thank you very much for that. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I will just keep pushing my videos out in the hopes they keep helping ppl because that is what I'm here for.
@@HaulYT With that motivation I see you getting very far. Keep it up, man. You make boring old youtube fun again. :)
@@zachdavis9827 Thanks again.
When Jeep builds a 2 door cab with about 1ft behind the seat, a 392 and a usable bed I’ll definitely buy one.
Great shout
Great video. I'm getting a Jeep Gladiator on Friday. BTW MOLLE is pronounced Molly. 27 years in the Army and you are the first person I have ever heard say Mole.
Awesome make sure to let me know how you like it, I just sold mine last week bc my Rivian got delivered. You are not the first person to call me out on my ridiculous pronunciation of things. Thank you for being kind in your correction 😂😂
I'm really glad I came across this. I drive a 2011 GTI and one of my concerns is if I could go from a hatchback to a truck and live with it. Looks like I might be able to. :)
Shane as a fellow Converted Hatchbacker I can honestly say I'm really happy. I really needed a truck for what I had to do around my home and I didn't need something full size. This was the perfect option for me b/c of all the reasons I covered. Love it to date.
I sold my 2017 GTI to buy my 2020 Rubicon. Really liked the couple GTI’s I owned. This is my 5th Wrangler. Also owned a MINI JCW
@@Wrangzilla awesome. I loved my mini as well but do really enjoy having a truck
Don’t buy a Jeep.
I think a Wrangler (and the Gladiator) is the Mini of off-roaders. Different, full of compromises yet super fun, puts a smile and is something special. The Gladiator with a longer wheel base has less compromise in ride quality and I don’t think would feel like it would jump across lanes when you hit a bump like the two-door wrangler feels like. I went from a GTI to a Wrangler to a Grand Cherokee for ultimate compromise. But, nowhere near as fun as the TJ/Wrangler.
My wife just purchased a 2021 Jeep Gladiator Overland. Hers came with rubber floor mats - front & back. Also it has a factory brake controller. The steering is also tight. It's definitely not sloppy. It has the stock tires/rims.
Awesome Ollie. It sounds like they fixed some of the minor issues.
@@HaulYT yep, definitely sounds like it.
I like the gladiator so much I got a 2021 mojave. Did not notice any steering issues. I'm going to add new bumpers and add an aftermarket towing set up. I'm fine with the rest of the truck.
Awesome to hear Brian. I have been trying to find if I can purchase the Mojave hood bc I love the scoop
@@HaulYT you should get the mojave the ride is super with those fox shocks.
The one I have came with the fox shocks as well. I kept the shocks even with the new lift.
Ty for ur Review ✅
TY for watching and the nice comment.
Appreciate the video! A lot of useful information and I’m kind of in the same boat waiting on seeing what the diesel is all about.
Jason let me know what you find out if you do test drive.
Great review. I am looking at getting one and loved it since they cam out. Not really interested in the diesel version.. Where did you get the hard Tonneau top?
Thank you man. I love mine. I got my cover from diamond back and I did a review on that as well
thx for this review. i was specifically looking for folks who have owned the Glad awhile and how they feel after. having just test drove a 16k mile 2021 Overland, i was pretty smitten, but also noted a lot of the same pitfalls: steering wanders at highway speed, lacks interior cargo space, genuine discomfort compared to the Grand Cherokees (which i have driven 20yrs now), and difficulty getting in and out of the tiny cockpit. i know my 78yo mom could not get in or out safely. Gladiators are hella cool trucks, and capable Jeeps once off road. but i don't know if i NEED it as much as i WANT it. one thing i have not heard anyone speak to is snow traction. have you had any chance to test that? also wondering how - if traveling with a dog - how they like it and whether they can get in or out. i currently lift my pup into the Grand Cherokee anyway, but she gets down on her own. Not sure she could get down out of this.
Thanks so much for the comment and view. I have drove the Jeep through 10" snow with no issues, a lot of the traction is around the tires vs the truck. I agree with a lot of your points around interior space and getting in and out. I have had my Bernese mtn dog in and out but he struggles in the back seat bc the width of the seat isn't as wide as a normal backseat. It is a head turner and great for short runs but if you are looking for comfort and practicality then I would look other places
Nice review, you obviously have good taste with an Esee knife in the door.
Hahaha thanks. You are the second person to catch that.
There's a service bulletin for your steering! Look up Jeep TSB 08-074-20. They replace the aluminum box with a new cast iron box with steel internals. I had it done and it fixed it! No more wandering, dead spot in steering wheel gone. However, if your vehicle is out of warranty you will probably have to pay for it. Don't let them deny you because of lift and tires.
Thank you I'm def going to look into this. Thank you so much for the feedback.
I don’t think any gladiator is out of warranty period yet. Lol.
But the dealers are aholes and give you the run around. I’ve been to 2 dealers and they want me to make appointments to come back so they can test drive and diagnose the issue and make sure my gladiator does have the issue before they even consider ordering the parts. I didn’t have time to go back, so I haven’t had mines done. All the Jeep dealers I’ve been to in California, are all aholes! Out of the whole entire Jeep “family”, I would say the worst of all is the dealerships. Even the crappy vehicles are better than the humans that work at the dealerships.
@@00ninja00 Damn, tsb states they should fix it even if you mention. Call corporate or get on Jeep gladiator forum and contact jeepcares. They have helped get the ball rolling for numerous amount of ppl
Have watched a few people recently do 1 year reviews on their Gladiators. Any of them that don't use them for anything but day in and day out vehicles said they would not buy again. Does not surprise me. It has taken some non Jeep owners by surprise and they love it. Others eh..I use mine as a daily driver and for serious off roading. In the end, a Jeep is a Jeep and you have to want to use it as such to love a Jeep.
Understand that for sure Aaron. I love mine b/c my expectation was that understanding what it is. That is awesome that you take yours on serious off roading. Do you have videos on the trail? What is your favorite feature of the gladiator in the off road situations?
@@HaulYT I don't post videos on CZcams but yes I have some. Have most of the Jeep Badges from Moab. I frequently visit there. The best feature of any Jeep is the right upgrades you do to the suspension . I like the length at times when it helps me get up an obstacle where a typical Jeep has issues. But that also has it's disadvantages. In the end, I have a Jeep truck and it CAN wheel hard and still do usual truck things.
@@yipeeiaye Awesome response. Moab is real legit well done.
Great video! I personally would steer clear of the diesel because they take a lot more work and heavily regulated. Gas is a lot more straightforward.
Thank you Myles. Thanks for your insight into the diesel version as well.
So there is a diesel version ?
I live in Europe and gas is expansive.
I love gas and V8 but with this heavy machine a diesel is more economic and has more torque for sure.
I had a Landrover Defender V8 his only problem was the fuel consumption.
But i really loved the sound.
@@SirGeldi there sure is a diesel I don't know the availability in Europe though
@General Melchett Good shout on the diesel. That hasn't happened in the US but I guess it could be possible in the future but I would be surprised. Lot's of diesel pride over here.
@General Melchett Yea that is pretty crazy. I guess we will see.
Bought my Sport S Gladi at nearly 11% below invoice last June. Ill drive it until its undrivable.
Awesome Dooster. They are great.
Get it on the trails. You’ll fall in love with the truck. That was the main selling point for me. I really like the customization you’ve done👌. I have yet to do any.
The trails scare me a bit haha. We don't have too many of them around here in Southern PA but there is one in particular that I may need to try. What customizations are you thinking of?
@@HaulYT Probably the Mopar 2 inch lift and 37’s a lot of money though. I’m on a budget after springing for the truck. 😂
@@jakec2009 I have heard really great things about that lift and I also have 37's on mine and love them. I have seen a local Gladiator near me with 40's which looks awesome but that is a lot of tire for a daily driver.
@@HaulYT Yeah I think 40s wouldn’t work for daily driving. Oh and BTW I get about 15 mpg in mixed driving stock. Maybe the lead foot.
@@jakec2009 hahaha
Brother there is a service bulletin out for steering. You can get steering gearbox changed. It will tighten it up. Google it or get on gladiator forum.
Thank you for this great info. I'm learning a lot from these comments.

@@chriskriaris2671 what is the question
There is a service bulletin out on FIAT in general.....BUYER BEWARE! CHEAP COMPANY, CHEAP PARTS, CHEAP ENGINEERING, CHEAP = CRAP! IF YOU WANT A REAL JEEP....BUY ONE BUILT PRE-FIAT
Thanks for posting this, it's very helpful. I didn't see you mention anything regarding reliability. Have you had any issues with it spending time in the shop? Has it had any recalls?
Thank you very much drw1926. I have not had any issues with reliability or recalls at this point. A ton of great ppl have commented on an upgrade that you can get from the dealership that deals with the steering box but I haven't ventured down that road yet to get it replaced. Apparently it makes the steering a lot better.
@@HaulYT great, thanks for the feedback. That's good to hear it didn't spend any time in the shop. And no recalls is great for an all-new model.
@@HaulYT I was just about to mention the steering box TSB. I own a 2020 JL Rubicon with the original steering box but I have no steering issues so will leave it as is until it starts, if ever, causing issues.

Hahaha awesome Justin. Glad I could help
How much do you use the Adaptive Cruise Control? And do you think it was worth the cost? Like the video by the way, well done.
Thanks for the kind words. I don't use the adaptive cruise much at all. All my long trips I just used the regular cruise but if you are planning a bunch of highway miles in decent traffic, it could be worth it. It works pretty decent.
Watched your review before buying our Gladiator - great review. Do you still have the link to the floor mats? Looking for something similar!
Great to hear I'm glad I could help. What color did you get? amzn.to/3C2w7Ic is the link to the mats. It looks like they have gone way up in price since I did this review. Happy Trails
Great Video

Agreed. The steering is certainly more loose than the Nissan pickup I previously had. The Nissan was very responsive and tight. The gladiator requires much more slight wheel movements to go straight down the road. Other than that, the Gladiator rules. It even gets better fuel economy than my well maintained Nissan V6 did. The Nissan was vanilla...the Gladiator makes a statement.
Totally agree. I enjoy having a vehicle that is unique to what I like. Thanks for the comment and watching
I had a really nice Nissan Pro 4x. 2017. That was the problem. I didn’t want to rough it up. My Gladiator-no problem. It’s what it was made for. You either have a Jeep mentality or not. Ford makes some really nice Broncos. Combination off road vehicle and mini-van. Lots of grocery space. Soccer gear. Etc….
love itttt this is my dream car. one day! haha have u had any major problems with it? consumer reports gave this truck 5 stars reliability and they actually recommend it, they have it second place just behind the honda truck. wouldnt u be interested in a hybrid gladiator?
Harry, I have not had any major problems with the truck. It has been great so far. This is the first "new" car that I have ever owned and it has been amazing to use the jeep wave program to get free oil changes and tire rotations. My next interest is an electric truck over a hybrid.
late for the party but speaking about the floor mats, Jeep should of done the bedrug for the carpeting as well... current carpets get moldy with any mud or water, bedrug doesn't.
Agreed. Disappointed with the mats for sure.
I leased a 16 Trd offroad Tacoma and then an 18 f150. Now I’m in a dilemma to go back to a Tacoma or go w a gladiator. It’s tough to decide. Kinda wanna give the gladiator and try
Both great buys which hold their value
Nice review, but just an FYI, the Overland does come with the brake towing setup.
Thank you and thanks for the insight.

Thanks boss
Thanks for the video, I'm planning on buting one with the diesel engine.
Awesome let me know what you think.
you need the TSB for the steering box. makes it much better, looking back on all the issues im having just hitting 11k miles ( defective base radios from 2018 wrangler now to gladiator, AC has a mind of it's own, door weld click they will all eventually get, dealer even admitted this, now i havea scary suspension scrape noise over bumps that i just left it at the stealership today. no i wouldn't buy one again. the French aka PSA will soon run FCA so i don't see the quality improving sadly.
I'm so sorry to hear about your issues. I will keep an eye out for that kind of stuff on my end. Thanks for the heads up.
5 year lifted jk owned wanted gladiator priced one out bought a new fully loaded 2021 zr2 instead w leather & nav for around 40k insted of 50k w no leather & no nav
They are pricey for sure Brett
About the Diesel engine...it is a FIAT sourced 3.0 litre engine and is not very reliable. TFL had a video up today about poor defrost in winter because the vent DOES NOT go the length of the windshield. Have you had this problem?
Mike thanks for the info on the Diesel engine. I haven't had issues with defrost but we had a pretty mild winter last year in PA so I haven't had the truck exposed to super cold temps yet either.
Which gladiator would you recommend for a guy wanting a second vehicle for just some fun driving and occasional Home Depot mulch loads. No need for serious off roaring but want the looks. Would 35 tires be enough for the off road look without adding a lift ? Is removing doors and top as easy as some of videos make it seem. Thanks
A sport model would cover what you are looking for without a crazy price tag. 35s add a lot of tire to the look for sure. You will need tow ppl to take the back L part of the top off but the doors are simple.
Nice video, now that gets July of 2022 and price at the pump are high and diesel I believe the Fiat motor. Would you still go that route if to buy another.
Poppy thanks for the nice comment and I have recently received my Rivian pre order so I'm fully electric now. I was able to get almost what I paid for the Gladiator based on used vehicle pricing right now. It was a sad day when I sold the Jeep but with the price of gas I couldn't be happier with my all electric truck. If I was going to buy another Jeep I still don't think I would go diesel b/c of the uncertainty with the prices.
Thanks for sharing your experience, can you share the link to the floor mats?
I will post it in the video description tomorrow. Thanks for watching
Frank I posted the link to the amazon site I bought mine from but they have gone up to $134 now from $60. Sorry Boss.
Great honest review. I'm looking to get a diesel Gladiator at some point in the next year or so. A couple of things:
The diesel is unfortunately not a Cummins, but a 3.0 Ecodiesel by VM Motori. Some are questioning the reliability of an Italian diesel, but the JL and Ram owners I've seen with it seem to really love it for the most part. Time will tell on the reliability of course.
Also, you should look into the Synergy JL/JT Sector Shaft Brace to tighten up the steering. TJ Mitchell Films on YT has a good video where he covers the installation and his thoughts on before and after. I know that's something i'll be doing when I get my Jeep.
Thanks for the feedback. Great info on the diesel and the shaft brace. Let me know how the diesel works out when you get one. I will def look into the brace as well.
Italian diesel motor what could go wrong 💪
I would go with the pentastar 3.6 v6 same tranny as the wrangler even easy change if somthing goes wrong plenty of jeeps out there.
What are your thoughts on the diesel? Are you excited for it based on your research? Better mileage and more torque seem to be a big win to me and get me excited about it. What are your thoughts?
Spencer I just had a comment that stated the diesel was a fiat 3.0 upgrade. Not very reliable but that was one person's view. My concern with the diesel is the lower towing capacity.
Yes, the diesel they are going to use is the eco diesel motor commonly found in Ram’s trucks. It’s actually won a few awards.
@@spencerdavidson5643 Oh wow I didn't realize. I will have to dig into some of that info.

I'm obsessed with the gladiator but ended up with a trd pro 4runner. Waiting for the new ecodiesel to prove itself then may switch :)

At the moment I’m in a ‘13’ Rubicon Jeep 2dr and looking to get a bigger 4 dr or JT. I’ve been driving an owned YJ and TJ Jeep Wrangler’s for over 28 years and would not drive anything else.
I only got to ride in my sisters 2 door all through highschool. The JT definitely drives like a truck b/c of it being longer I assume. I have not ridden in a 4 door enough to have a definitive feel. If you need a bed and love a Jeep I think the JT would be great for you.
If you were to chose again would you purchase the less expensive but nicely equipped overland model over the Rubricon?
I would stay with the rubicon b/c I was able to use the stock shocks with my lift kit. The rugged look was more important to me than the features that comes with the Overland.
My Gladiator came with the rubber mats, it’s a sport S. I’m really surprised your rubicon didn’t. You’d think it would have that.

Your fuel mileage will also suffer by the fact your odometer/speedometer is now reading incorrectly due to the larger 37” tires. You should recalibrate your speedometer if you want an accurate mpg rating...
Very true. I have noticed that a lot on the highway.
I’m looking to trade in my lifted jk , for something more comfortable one of the big reasons is my jk jerks around a lot and really doesn’t like going over 80, do you get any rattle or shakes at any highway speeds?
Nothing at hwy speeds Thomas. It truly rides like a truck. The long stance allows for a smoother ride than the JK's.
With 37’s and that screwed up automatic you need to regear to get back into the correct rpm range… probably won’t get back to factory fuel mileage but should get into the 19-22 mpg range
Oliver thanks for the insight. Great idea and thanks for the tip.
That was good review, my wife and I are
Looking at a Gladiator to pull behind the RV. For all these haters callin you out for not getting it in the dirt or trail, ignore em...I’ve got an F150 4x4 that has pulled more crap out of hole than most of these Jeep owners have ever hooked on to. We are getting a Jeep because it’s the closest thing you can get to riding a motorcycle without it being a motorcycle. Quit riding 2 years ago after 47 years of riding. My Jeep will rarely see off road unless it is to pull my RV out. So all of the pros out there can...well, you know the rest. Good review my friend, enjoy life
EHHHH thanks a lot for the kind words. I don't take any of it personally. I bought it so I'm going to drive it how and where I wish. No biggie. If you end up getting one let me know your thoughts.
Thinking about trading my car and my truck for a gladiator always wanted a Jeep but I’m a truck guy so this mash up is perfect! After watching this video I might pull the trigger on it
Awesome. I was in the same boat with needing a truck but wanting the customization options. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Got a 2021 overland high altitude loaded sitting on 20’s and 31 tires been getting 23-25 MPG on the highway and mountain driving and 20 in town was thinking about getting bigger tires but wow you only get 16mpg? For the rubicon ouch
It def dipped with the bigger tires, but I still wouldn't have changed my decision. What major differences are there with the high altitude model?
Remember the steering will always feel like that because the solid axle at front
Thanks boss
Your Jeep didn’t come with rubber mats because you didn’t get that option, not because it’s not offered
Fair comment. I should have stated I wish they were standard
But every Jeep should come standard with rubber Mats
@@mygangstaguitar15 ya hes right ya
and he knew what the gas mileage was before he bought it. I just don't get people going from a sports car to a jeep and then going to complain about the handling. It is a jeep, it is going to drive like a box.
@@TheSpirobulldog I wouldn't say it was a complaint just making a point. My apologies for upsetting you though
Waiting for the hybrid gladiator
Could be a great choice.
I head that the desiel one is super heavy an the the 6 cylinder pull pritey good but terrible on fuel
I'm not sure about that but they would be pretty awesome in diesel
Thanks for this video. I am hoping to trade in my 19’ Cherokee for a gladiator if the price is right. Gonna test drive soon & see how everything goes! God bless
No problem Luke and Good Luck
How do you feel about the orange dash board? It's a deal breaker for me! I can't imagine what Jeep was thinking. All they had to do was match the body color!
Mine is red not orange and I love red so I'm happy.
XS4EYES- I imagine if you wanted to have a non-red dash, you could easily find someone with a firecracker red Sport S who would gladly trade you their stock black dash for your red dash from the rubicon.
How was your buying experience and what did you end up paying out the door. Looking to buy a 2022.
My buying experience was great but I think that really depends on where you buy instead of the model. I did all my communication through email and then just went and picked it up. I don't remember my out the door price but I know it was significantly cheaper b/c I drove to VA to get it, I'm in PA.
There is a tsb out for the steering gear/steering box. On the forums ppl are saying it’s a night and day difference. Call your local dealership. If you just mention you have wandering steering they are suppose to fix it according to the tsb.
Thanks Jeff I have gotten this response a lot. I'm going to call my local dealer to see if they will install the new setup.
the loose driving is def an eye opener for people who have never driven a jeep. it takes some getting used to, all the mileage,,,people ask but hey, its better than those big pick up trucks....who cares bigger tires, worse mileage they look COOL AS HELL
Yea it did take a bit especially coming from my Mini 🤣🤣. They totally look badass though
excellent
Thank you Ali. That means a lot.
Can you hear while talking on bluetooth? How comfortable are the seats? I'm looking at the 2021 Diesel. Would you buy the Rubicon again or the Overlander? Thank You'
KW The bluetooth works well with the hardtop but when I put my bestop softop on it is a bit loud for the receiver end. The seats are amazing in the Rubicon. I would buy the Rubicon but I was looking for the rugged look. Either model rides like a truck and not like a Jeep which is great.
@@HaulYT Thank You Haul Daat
Thanks for the review! I am stuck between the Tacoma and this, but I think I am starting to lean towards this. FYI: MOLLE is pronounced MOLL-E (not trying to be a snob, just helpful).
Great place to be stuck. I don't take constructive criticism personally and I didn't realize my stupidity until the first comment on that came through. Thanks for the kind words though. Either decision will be a good one.
@@HaulYT Oh Shoot. Sorry bout that. I didnt want to be that guy. I tried to make sure it wasn't mentioned already. Keep up the videos though. This was my favorite review of the Gladiator so far. Simple, informative, and relevant.

2022 Nissan Frontier pro 4X is a great option as well
I don’t know if they improved the steering in 2021, but mine has very tight steering compared to my wife’s 2019 highlander.
Thanks for the update, Buck. I'm not sure either but the steering certainly has been commented on a lot for this video.
They did improve the steering box after the first model year. I believe the first one was aluminum and the new one is steel. There is a TSB for it and they'll swap it out at the dealership for free.
@@jonvanhamlin1477 Thanks for the comment.
How is the wind noise with the hard top ? Yes I know it's a jeep but wonder if it's just plain bad for long hauls which I like to do.
I was looking at the Mojave.
I don't find it excessive at all. I'm an open windows kind of guy when the weather is nice as well. I have the Bestop Sun Rider for over the driver and passenger and that can get a bit load on the hwy.

Thank you
great video bro
I appreciate that feedback a lot. TY
Was looking at moving to a Gladiator. Was worried about the "Small interior" I keep hearing about. But it looks almost identical to the Cherokee just Wrangler themed.
It is normally only my wife and I traveling in it with no issues. I have had 4 adults in the vehicle with no complaints. The width is probably the most noticeable but if you are used to a Cherokee you should be fine.
Brother…the MOLLE system straps on the seat backs… are pronounced “Molly” not “mole.” Thanks for making this review video. 👍🏻
The great thing about making CZcams videos is your stupidity is captured for the rest of time 😂. Thanks for the clarification, you are not the first and I'm sure won't be the last.
Sana all!
I wish the same for you 👍
Wow, i just learned a 4x4 truck uses more gasoline than a Mini Cooper.. WOW !! Thanks for the info. WooooW !!! You must be in shock for finding that.. WooooW..

pronunciation of molle as "mole" made me laugh over and over :)
Hahaha 😂. Well good this video was half comedy half informative. Your welcome.
I've heard it pronounced at least three different ways. "Mole" "Moley" "Mollie". Why they just couldn't have called it 'PALS' like it should have been, haha.
@@hcmalibu72 I have now been corrected in multiple iterations hahaha.
@@HaulYT I mean the manufacturer, mind you..... 😆
Appreciate the video! I didn't even notice that molle part until reading the comments looking for additional owner comments. I was looking for a solid, 1-yr of ownership review and I found it. Thanks again!!
@@hcmalibu72 no problem. Thank you
How loud is the cabin on the highway?
The problem is this thing probably won’t see many updates cuz it’s selling like crap. I’ve been hearing they won’t likely bother with a version 2.0. Maybe that will change after the diesel motor comes out. I think it’s the pricing more than anything though.
That is interesting about the selling of units. The cabin isn't bad with a hard top. The road noise isn't terrible with the hardtop and patriot panels. The Bestop top changes that a bit.
I have a Rubicon Gladiator also and the steering is a big disappointment for me also. There is a fix though (and its free for you). There is a technical service bulletin from Jeep that addresses the issue. It is TSB 08-074-20. You can read about it here: www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/new-jt-gladiator-steering-issue-tsb-08-074-20-for-improved-steering-feel.33705/page-105#post-583753 You just have to tell the dealership that you are having issues with excessive play in the wheel. Good luck!
Thank you for the feedback. I will check that out.
Just got a 2021 Gladiator Sport. The package it came with included the rubber mats. So far I haven't noticed loose steering. I actually traded my 2018 JL in since the dealership was offering discount prices on the JT and a good trade in for my JL. Where did you get your bed cover? I"m looking at some bed covers and trying to decide between a hard or soft one.
Congrats and glad to hear you got a great deal. Including the mats and the steering being fixed is awesome. My cover is a diamondback hd. I have a review of the cover on my channel under the review section.
The new 2021 is suppose to come with the new iron steering box instead of the crap aluminum box that came on the jl and 2020 JT.
@@00ninja00 thanks for the info.
Looked at one today while getting the oil changed in my paid off 2016 Willys with 18,000 miles on it, it was 57,000 msrp. Lmao. Jeep hs lost their damn minds.
I hear ya Chris
@Jon Smithe hahaha very true
What do you mean by loose steering? Would this make it common for a new driver to overcompensate when steering?
Olivia I don't believe that would happen. I mean loose steering compared to a car. It drives like a truck.
IMO it’s kind of squirrelly, I’ve had other trucks that drove as good as a car. At highway speeds switching lanes it will kind of take off on you in that direction & I can see how you could over correct. This could be caused somewhat by aggressive tires. Also in high wind situations or a passing semi affects it quite a bit, it’s a brick not aerodynamic. I hear the steering slop can be tightened up by installing a Yeti Steer Smarts track bar. I’m having one installed by the end of May, along with a 3” lift, & 5.13 gears since I installed 37” tires. I was also told that I would eventually have to replace the stock steering box since they are burning up with larger tires.
