Absolutely love all of the self reliance outfitters products!!! Thank you so much Dave Canterbury!!! Really looking forward to the forest tool!! I definitely need one!! It’s perfect for what I got going on!! Can you help me? Thank you brother Dave Canterbury!!❤❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Agreed! I love everything I purchased from them. The time I have to buy something again is when I lose it! Bulletproof gear.
@@woodswalker64 Thank you!
One of The Best Tutorials on The Bow Drill Fire I've ever seen.
This is the exact video I needed to watch today! I'm in the Combustion chapter of Bushcraft 101 right now, and I couldn't understand what you meant by "bracing your hand against your knee and pulling the wood towards yourself" until I watched you do it in this video!
Dave is the KING of instructors, no one any better. Thanks for all you do Dave.
Im giving an A+ to this guy! Obviously he is a master survivalist. Wow.
I can watch these clips; when Dave cooks it makes me hungry and I have to eat.
Interesting, on TV back then the knife couldn't have been too big.
But his fire drilling tutorial is still top notch!
Best regards from Berlin
I like this o e because we're combining more than one skill. Very good demo. Great job.
This never gets old.
Excellent Presentation Dave !!! Thank You For Sharing Your Knowledge.
Hey Dave! Glad to see you revisiting some of these topics!
More to come!
Yes, that's what we've been waiting for... I'm nostalgic for your old videos... Thank you and I'm looking forward to more videos from you in the old style
Making your first fire from a bow drill is a kick -ss experience.
Good instructors don't leave out minute details that make a big difference. That's what this video does and a perfect example of how to do it.
Thanks Dave--good information and a bonus of how to make and use a bow drill! Appreciate it.
I love these videos. Been watching for years and i love videos that go back to basics
I wish Cody would accept your oppologies already Mr. Dave... it would make my heart smile to see you two brothers reunite one more time
Great video, knife work and bow drill building instructions all in one. Dave is the man. Thank you for all you do.
You the man!
What a great demonstration!
When I was first introduced to Dave he called Cody an expert on making fire and today he makes it as easily as he breathes!
You should see him do it with his beard
Love those videos ! 🫡
My Scorpion XL came in today. Used it in my latest video. It's a great knife!
Never understood the hand drilling when a bow works so fast ! Best lunch break video ever !
Hand drills require fewer resources and less manufacturing of the components to work. Bowdrills are great, but if you don't have cordage and a knife, they're much more difficult to make successful. Different techniques for different scenarios
@@KiltPatrick if you aren't naked out there.. and you have a knife..you cut the bottom one inch of your shirt tail off..all the way around the shirt. Resource.
Hes good with knotts. Underrated skill
Bro i saw the thumbnail and was like, is that dave Canterbury? Dude looks different than dual survival but his voice is undeniable!
A fantastic tutorial!
Glad to revisit bowdrill techniques. I can do flint and steel with my eyes closed, but for some reason haven’t been able to succeed at this one.
Superior, thanks for Sharing
Great work once again brotha. I'm jelly i can't get to your classes.
I know you showed it in another video and glad you gave credit to the person you learned it from. The other way to baton is to hit the wood you want to split by having the knife at the bottom and hitting the wood with the mallet pushing it down towards the blade. The idea is to not beat on the knife decreasing chances of breaking it.
Thanks Dave
Really enjoyed watching you make this bow drill set. True master class 👍
Another awesome vid

Top demais irmão
👍 Good video.
Dave, ty
Thank you!! 🙏🏼
Love the back to basics vids, hope it becomes a mini series! Just don’t video giving yourself stitches again, don’t think that would fly with YT nowadays 😂
I've never put a feather cut into the bottom of my hearthboard to increase oxygen.
I will try this next time.
Thank you for the tip.

Cool👍👍
Basics get an alltime high, i love it. Thanks Dave, be blessed in Jesus Christus
One question, I have seen you are selling the canteen with D-rings on top of the handle. But all the retailers in europe did sell the "old" variant, without D-rings. Maybe you could push your retailers a little, to get the newer version.
best regards
Frank
So many tiny details that will lead to success, and FIRE. Imagine some caveman or cavewoman came up with this...must have felt like a God!
👍💪👍💪👍
First time I noticed Dave is a Travelling man.
When is the outfitters edition going to be back in stock?
Did you not need to lubricate the spindle at the top for the handle you said really wet last words of video. I've read milk weed or spit to help lubricate. I've always wanted to see you do a fire drill for demonstration not just the shows. Thank you. I like your directions in a linear simple manner. I over complicate things so this was really good.
I am not a fan of the knife baton gimmick - just take a tomahawk or small forest axe with you for wood processing.
Nice tattoo on your finger there, Brother.
Obligatory comment.
Awesome instruction, thanks Dave!
I’m new to knives and your channel is an easy instant follow.
