Can you Do PS2 Launch Games next?
I played 500+ hours on Phantasy Star Online... offline.
My only real exposure to the GameCube was in college. My best friend had one, we played a lot of Timesplitters 2 and Future Perfect plus I watched him play through Resident Evil 4.
At home, we had a GameCube, but just a handful of different games. If your hand has 7 fingers, that is.
Still, I will always cherish the memories of waking up extra early with my sister to get maybe an hour of playtime in before our parents woke up.
Mario Party 4 and 6, Mario Kart: DD!!, SSB Melee, Sonic Adventure DX, NFS Underground 2 and the Sonic Mega Collection will always be near and dear to me. My favourite console ever.
I got a black Gamecube on day of release with Rogue Leader. I've just started playing it again. I loved the Gamecube. Great video, guys.
I just can’t help myself from saying “Oh yeah! Here we go! Sports time!” in sync with Ben every single time. It’s just fun!
That's probably because you're a sane person!
it's not.
it's annoying hearing him say that every. single. time. he talks about a sports game.
it's not fun nor funny, it just completely murders the pacing of the episode and this "joke" feels like it drags on every time
@@timothygraham4304 no they aren't.
@@chl_ca I may not agree with you, but I respect your opinion. Not sure why you’re replying to this comment from 2 years ago, but let’s just agree to disagree. I hope you have a good rest of your day.
I bought the Cube at launch with Rouge Squadron and Crazy Taxi. I only had about an hour with it before I had to go to work and endure what had felt like the longest shift in the history of the world.
OH YEAH, HERE WE GO, PURPLE LUNCHBOX TIME! 🥳
I had a silver lunch box 😔
@matt fahringer Yawnn nj Ty See 🙈
@matt fahringer I think that’s my favorite of the colors, I have the black one though.
I have the purple lunch box I couldn’t put my lasagna in there someone tell me what im doing wrong
One of the most underrated systems.
Man I’m glad i’m not the only one that absolutely adores “Oh yeah here we go sports time!”😂😂😂
I was about to say the same thing!!! Guy made his own catchphrase
It’s literally always mentioned in every single comment section of this series...
@@Steve-ph7qn well you see I typically watch on my PS4/5 and therefore don’t see the comments, I happened to look at this one my phone and saw that so many others are into the phrase.
That fine with you dick?
I despise when he says that crap
@@SlapNuts4Life didn’t ask
Seeing how strong the starting lineup was, it's absolutely mind-boggling how unsuccesful the GameCube ended up being. There are so, SO many quality games on this thing and can we talk about the awesome controller?!
I guess it just came at a difficult time with competition being at an all-time high. Still, the little purple box has a place in my heart.
I always looked at gamecube as more of a kid’s console, ps2 as the standard and xbox as like hardcore gamer console. Now that i’m older i get that there are a lot of nintendo fans who aren’t kids but growing up that’s how it seemed to me
I know for one thing I remember when PS2 came out and my parents asked me if I wanted one because they had to go stand in the line anyway for someone else. I told my mom NO because I wanted a Gamecube and was willing to wait until the next Christmas to make sure I got one of those instead. There was no way in hell I was about to be caught with my pants down bagholding a PS2 and no Gamecube when I knew Super Smash Bros Melee and all these great launch games were coming out.
@@lamBETTERthanY0U The truth is xbox and ps2 were the casual consoles and Gamecube was the core console, but people didn't realize they were filthy casuals.
@@graalcloud yeah i bet it was fun not playing any of the ps2 gta games
Think you’re confused. The cubes game library was bs by comparison. And I had one!
I remember the first time seeing Rogue Leader. Absolutely blew my tiny mind.
@@3enCooper This. I am 34, that trench run demo, made my brain melt back then. I kept thinking the demo/trailer from back then this whole video lol.
@@3enCooper Again, this.
Same :)
I still think it looks great. Considering it’s almost two decades old and the hardware was brand new to them, Factor 5 worked miracles.
One of the best looking games of all time no doubt.
Favourite line: “Crazy Taxi, loosely based on Simpsons Road Rage” 😂
Kinda like a GTA game where you do the taxi missions and nothing else ;)
@@tommydplayskeys that was simpsons hit and run
I remember buying my Gamecube on release day along with Luigi's Mansion, Rogue Leader, and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.
What a great day that was.
Back in the days when games were actually finished when they released.
Rocky PS2: [sweats nervously]
Yup back then you spend what 40 to 50 bucks on a game that we still go back and play today because they are so fun. Now you spend 80 on a game, 50 for a map pack, 40 for a character pack, 8 dollars for red costume, etc. Disgusting
The fucking truth.
@@tylersmith9868 and the game ends up being unfinished, buggy and ass
Spyro 4
Crash 4
Crash Twinsanity
Tomb Raider:Angel of Darkness
Superman 64
Drake of 99 dragons
Earthworm Jim 3D
Mega Man X7
BIG RIGS OVER THE ROAD RACING
Now say that again.
Most underrated game console ever, have so many good memories playing this with my cousins. Ranks 2nd on my personal list for that reason alone.
yeah, Nintendo shot itself in the leg with the indigo color and alienating most third party devs in the N64 era. It would've done better than the OG Xbox if they hadn't done so.
@@thepurrfectionist365 maybe but im sure they did a black one at lunch as well. I think it's more about there not being many killer games on this gen for them, sunshine wasn't as big as 64. Plus you had the PlayStation 2 that took alot of sales.
@@nathangarrett9868More to do with the limitations of the GameCube discs. 1.5GB at a time when the PS2 and XBox could do 4.7GB single layer and 8.5GB dual layer DVDs.
Nintendo didn't learn from the limitations that cartridges had compared to CDs with the N64 and made the same mistake again with the GameCube.
They were so worried about piracy of videogames. A worry that was absolutely unnecessary, since the PS2 and XBox didn't really have any significant piracy problems.
It would have been great to see GTA 3 on the GameCube if only they adopted DVDs like every one else.
As a huge sports guy, I love you playing these. Makes me feel like when I tried to play a cricket video game except unlike you, I did NOT give it everything I've got.
Hahahaha! 😁 I feel your pain! 😂
OH YEAH, HERE WE GO, SPORTS TIME!!!
This never gets old.
Needs to be a shirt
@@xWagnerPlaguesx 💯💯💯 Would definitely buy it!
I've played a [sports game] before.
I think this is one of my favourite sayings of all time I love it
Rogue Squadron was the reason I got a GameCube. It is still one of my favorite Star Wars games. I miss you Factor 5.
I love Luigi's Mansion, the first is so damn good...in fact the whole series is great.
I still can't find the gems in the second one.
Some games still look good to this day. I loved my Gamecube, with all my heart. Metroid Prime, Zelda Wind Waker and Eternal Darkness are damn good games.
WaveRace Blue Storm was and still is my drug, I'd honestly love a WaveRace Switch game.
You should try Riptide renegade.
I can’t believe they haven’t made a newer one
It was awesome but it'd suck on the switch because it needs analogue triggers.
@@lamBETTERthanY0U the company that made the Wave Race games sadly shut down.
Blue Storm is underrated. It had great weather and wave effects.
I just discovered this series...I must have heard him say, "Oh, yeah, here we go - SPORTS TIME!" at least 20 times today, and it still makes me smile every time!
As a Pole can 100%confirm,Smoked Kiełbasa Polka is national theme.
Idea for a video:
"OH YEAH, HERE WE GO, STREET TIME!!"
A playthrough of each of the games in the "Street" series, NBA Street, NFL Street, etc.
The GameCube is the most underrated home consoles in my opinion, I loved mine growing up and still do!
You know what's even more underrated than GameCube, the Wii U
The most underrated was the SEGA Dreamcast. It was way ahead of its time. They had online gaming before anybody also
@@Tampafan33 Agreed. Still play my Dreamcast to this day
@@BrawlinEntertaintment2K the Wii U is garbage, and the only good games were ported to switch anyways. There’s no reason to have a Wii U.
@@FizzyCape F$%@ you to the moon dude. I love Wii U.
You're using my boys in NHL Hitz! I loved playing Hitz on the PS2. I just need to get it fixed.
Yeah bro! I swear he always plays as the pens. He like Lemieux.
Damn, this has everything! Sports time, polka, Simon toasty, 69% and John Oliver!
That fake PC crash was a dick move. . .
so well done. Keep up the good work. 👏
Pikmin Lugi Mansion and Melee on Christmas morning 🤤
Rogue Leader is a true classic. It's exactly the sort of game that I would totally buy in 2021, yet would never get made in 2021.
I remember arguing on online forums about how Rogue Leader was a better looking game than Halo.
20 years later, I definitely stand by my point.
Super monkey ball 2 👀😁
I agree with you
I have played many Halo games, but NONE of them can catch me, i just can't.
Everyone is praising the series, and i can't for the love of me seem to love it.
@@misterdude6694 i dont like any gun games
That slim jim pause made me laugh out loud 😂 love the humor in this channel
It was pretty impressive that the Gamecube managed to have such a decent launch lineup despite having to start without either a Mario or a Zelda game (Luigi's Mansion explicitly does not count). I still say that Rogue Leader is the greatest Star Wars game ever made, bar none, fucking fight me (with the possible exception of Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike, which while not nearly as good a game, includes _THE ENTIRE GAME OF ROGUE LEADER_ as a 2-player co-op game as a "bonus feature"). It's the only game to provide a flawless recreation of the original Battle of Yavin as well as the Battle of Endor, including a blistering run through the guts of the 2nd Death Star (Strike at the Core).
My wife and I have been waiting for this video for months! Can't wait to watch it with her later!!
Who would win?
the virgin "EA sports, it's in the game"
or
the chad "OH YEAH, HERE WE GO, SPORTS TIME!!!"
Flawless victory for "OH YEAH, HERE WE GO, SPORTS TIME!!!", EA Sports in absolute shambles.
7:35 "Oh yeah this slaps Richard!"
I've never watched this guys videos but when he mentioned the Wave Race menu we became friends.
Dave Mira BMX, That was my jammy jam!! Loved the game and the music was the soundtrack to my teenage years. Memories!
Loved when Ben *Jumped In* for the 360 launch playthrough.
Excited to see this!
I love this series endlessly. Consistently amazing from the writers, editors, and the MVP of TripleJump, smoked kielbasa polka.
Also, a bourbon cream Ben? That’s no jammie dodger, official biscuit of a certain podcast.
Fantastic video! Brings back so many memories. I had no clue these were launch titles, just remember playing these game nonstop as a kid!
Luigi’s Mansion and Rogue Squadron II are the only two that I’ve played, but I can honestly say they were along my favorite GameCube games of all time.
God, this series is delightful (deity for emphasis). I wish youtube would ask me to rate every video, to help get this channel the exposure it deserves. The sheer research that goes into these videos, the excellent voice acting and editing, and the hilarities (many hilariousnesses) make this my favorite channel. Keep 'em coming please and thank you!
Awesome, now for GameCube, I have fond memories uf THPS 3 that's the Tony Hawks game i grew up on, i played that for so many hours as a kid, good times 😊
Luigi Mansion, Super Monkey Ball and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 were epic at Launch and Super Smash Bros Melee and SSX Tricky the month after !
I was just a year old when the GameCube released but I remember getting one in 2004 at Best Buy with my dad and we got Sonic Adventure DX with it. My first console experience and it remains my favourite console to this day😁
Love this series. Just got through them all. Subscribed. Great content dude keep it up 👍🏼
Rogue Leader, Monkey Ball, Luigi's Mansion, and Wave Race were all top notch games. A great launch lineup overall. And a great video too. 👌
Rogue Squadron still looks great on a technical level .. was also 60fps, beast.
Also x2
Keep up the solid work TripleJump 👍
Started with my favorite part of these vids. Sports time!
My first home console that was all my own, with the fondest memories, met my best friend in the world to this day through wind waker. Some of the best games of all time imo
I remember standing in the electronics section of my local Walmart playing that Star Wars game.
That day I learned it's not good to look up for an hour straight.
My neck is still sore.
When I bought GC back in the day I also picked up 2 games on it; Super Smash Brothers Melee and Rogue Squadron. Good times were had by all.
I still have my cube. One of my favorites systems ever, my favorite controller ever, and quite a few games that hold up really , really well. Underrated system.
I have a ton of GameCube memories. From playing Smash Melee for the first time, to experiencing the graphical powerhouse of Rogue Leader, to obcessing over Crazy Taxi, to memorizing the stages of Sonic Adventure 2.
But if i were to pick any of them? I'd say it all started with one sentance.
"Unidentified distress beacon has been tracked to a derelict space vessel in orbit above Tallon IV."
Love that seamless cut at the end where you presumably took out “2020” 😂
78.2% avg for a launch lineup is actually pretty good. I wonder how that compares to others. I am actually sad I never played THPS3 cause I remember playing the hell out of THPS2 on n64 and loved it
Personally had Super Monkey Ball, Rogue Leader and luigis mansion. All bloody brilliant.
I didn’t know how complete my life is now that I’ve heard him yell “THIS SLAPS, RICHARD!”
Thank you CZcams for ruining official licenced soundtracks in games.. Getting a new game used to be like getting a cd collection at the same time
ah man, that Tarzan game's "Everybody, look lovely (lively?)" guy is a legit injoke between me and my brothers. These Launch Game videos are brilliant all round :)
This is still my favorite system of all time. Absolutely adore this purple little cube
I only clicked this video because the 3 games on your thumbnail were litteraly the first 3 games I got with my (jet black) gamecube on Christmas morning when I was 8. Such memories. (Edit: *jet black)
Tony Hawk Luigi Mansion and Monkey Ball in that order are my favorites from this lineup.....
And honorable mention Resident Evil 4🔥
Good god I love this series and now we've gotten to my very first console that was my own. Even though n64 will always be my favourite console. The gamecube will always have a special place in my heart
Ya Ya Ya Ya Yah! Wonder how many times I heard that playing Crazy Taxi as a kid.
I had a Gamecube and loved it, of these launch titles I owned luigis mansion, Tony hawk 3, and rougue squadron 2, I got 100% on all 3. So many great games on the system like smash bros melee, gemini force?, paper Mario, Mario kart, Mario tennis, wind raker and many more.
Oh yeah here we go! SPORTS TIME!!!!!!
Nice little John Oliver cameo there too.
The monster placements in NFS (2015)... it’s all I could think of watching those product placement clips 😂
The editing in this one is particularly *chef's kiss* 💋👌.
Gamecube had a strong launch. Can't forget games that came out shortly after launch but before Christmas 2001 like Super Smash Bros Melee, Simpsons Hit and Run, etc.
I loved crazy taxi's in game advertisments. Made the world feel like the real world at least for the time.
Dave Mirra gameplay was ok, but the soundtrack was banging! Oh and I still play Monkey Target occasionally :)
Rogue Squadron 2 still looks great, jeez la weez!
Oh yeah here we go its Ben time!!!
The best part of Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 was getting run over by the cars. And there was some strange button combination where your guy would grab onto things, and you could grab the car and get dragged around the map.
Star Wars Rogue Squadron was hands down the best launch title. Star Wars is my favorite movie all of time and the game captured some of that magic really well.
Yay! This is one of my favorite series from one of my favorite channels! ;)
i honestly expected you to have more subs!! this is a neat channel dude
He doesn’t have more subs because he’s mean spirited, smug, annoying, doesn’t actually know anything about games and a nasty little boy.
Ben Potter, you bless us with this series xxx
Thank you 👍👍👍👍 watched all the other ones .. please make more 🙏
He got me with the Crazy Taxi. I was about to scream hahaha
0:15 Mr. Burns: "Is it about my cube?"
Super Mario Sunshine was unbelievable. I remember wanting more than anything to live on Isle Delfino
I have kept my ps2 for 11 years and I always went back to simpsons hit and run and sims. Its fan is very dusty but i just bought gta 3 and vc with my xmas money.
I’ve been. Playing PS2 a lot lately
"Poltergust" just means "noisy wind."
Portmant-neau.
This is a proper gaming channel, this is what I'm here for
'This slaps Richard" You really are one very funny man!
When you're starting with OH YEAH HERE WE GO SPORTS TIME.
You know it's gonna be good
Who else remembers popping open the first game case and seeing that mini DVD. Well, big N, you certainly did catch the disk train finally. Better late than never. Bittersweet seeing real FMV and quality music on these titles. Also, bittersweet to see a Final Fantasy title here, even though it was to be desired.
Hey! Jack From USA - I really Enjoy all your videos! Thank you very much for the nastalgia trip! "Cheers Mate" ( did I do that right? lol
Dave Mirra2, THPS3,Super monkey ball and Luigis Mansion was my childhood, ahh good times
It's impressive how some of these launch titles are still must-have games for anyone with a Gamecube.
I had Crazy Taxi and Pro Skater 3 and honestly those were both super fun.
NHL HITZ 2002 was honestly one of the underrated launched titles for the GC, even before I was into Hockey it was fucking fun playing it. Unlocking the hidden mascot teams were worth it.
This...This was a damn good video🤗
I restarted this like five or six times because the intro slayed me.
First time watching one of your vids. You're funny bro. Just subbed.
Btw that free sports man is called a wide receiver😜
Every Sonic game or every SEGA franchise ranked? That fish/frog face in the hockey bit will now give me nightmares.
Please keep up the great videos!
Batman teabagging a knocked out baddie made my day. Whoever chose that music behind it got it so right.
Classic console and much love to Rogue Squadron II!
Star Wars Rogue Squadron was the best launch game. It actually showed how graphically powerful the GameCube was. I got one for Christmas and my brother got an Xbox. We both rented madden 2002 to compare graphics. It was close but the GameCube version had less round helmets. As much as everyone hated on that machine it’s my favorite console of all time.
I spit my water out at the inclusion of the John Oliver "cool."
