    The smallest size I have ever tried was A6 and thought passport was too tiny until on a whim I bought a Moterm Passport Companion and instantly fell in love with it. Feels so nice in hand! I bought the Sterling Ink Common Planner in passport size just like yours plus an additional passport notebook and both fit perfectly in the Moterm. Passport is currently my new obsession. Great video! Going to watch more! 🤗

    One other comment. hehe Sorry. I have been devoted to pocket size TN for years. I have many, many covers in this size. I am just now starting to play around with passport size. I have collected a lot of passport items for my on the go planner for 2024. It does actually make me a little nervous. haha All of my accessories and everything I have is all for pocket size. But, I want to switch things up. You know when you just want a change for a while. Anything you want to tell me would be great as well. Also, I by the Hobo Weeks every year, and after a couple months, I fizzle out of it. So, a bound book really hasn't worked for me either - Until this year my dad passed away, and I just couldn't stand to look at my Happy Planner. So, I purchased a Hobonichi Cousin, and much to my surprise I LOVE it! This planner really has everything you need all in one book. I am not bored at all. For 2024 I bought the AVEC version because the planner gets so thick. I use my TN and my Cousin together. The Cousin stays at home on my desk, and my TN goes everywhere. My Cousin is something I will keep. It has all my creative weekly spreads, my daily writings in the back, etc. The inserts for me in my TN come and go for the most part.

    I DID order from Sterling Ink! Only I got the monthly calendar. It’s very thin and only has the months and a few pages between each month. I love it. It will go in my Travelers Co Olive Passport. My EDC.

    I am awaiting my pre-order from Sterling Ink to arrive. I got the A6 vertical and out of curiosity I also got the passport vertical too. Technically, I guess the passport purchase was an impulse but I have NO idea if or how I will use it. I think it will be adorable but also impossibly small to use. This said, I am hoping I can do a journal-ish something with it. Something like a positive thing a day maybe? Once I have it in my hands, maybe something with come to me :) Thank you for the great video, can't wait to see how you end up using your passport horizontal!

    I ordered the SICP Vertical Passport in Quartz ( I plan to use it for exercise tracking) and 2 ( Half & Full year) in A5 size in Quartz and Mist with a white edge. I wasn’t fond of the gilded edges.
    I may just carry my passport planner with a clear cover or order a Jelly cover with an elastic closure from Salty Katie...
    I wish I would have bought a Foxy Fix Passport cover but I only own a Weeks Cover, a A6 cover... I also own a few Foxy Fix ringed covers in Pocket, A6, & Personal Wide sizes... White is my favorite color for a planner cover...Nothing prettier than a clean white planner. Loved seeing the video, be well

    hi john. first i want to say that i'm also a fan of brown ink in any form - gel or fountain pen lol. i'm new to sterling ink and also purchased the cp passport. i plan on using it as a journal because i struggle with my journaling and want to make it a habit. since the passport is portable, tiny and the space for each day is limited, it is less intimidating to write a little bit each day. and with the numbered blank pages, i can write longer entries and reference the page number next to the date. my 2024 work/life planner is a medium passion planner.

    • @planningwithjohn
      @planningwithjohn  Před 9 měsíci

      That’s what I was thinking too. Perfect size for journaling as each day isn’t an entire page. And if I want to make a special page about a trip there’s all the pages in the back for special events and memories. ❤

    Thanks for sharing, John! I didn‘t order anything from Sterling Ink‘s 2024 dated planners, but I did order a few of her grid inserts with Tomoe River Paper. Experimenting with a TN as my work planner/catch-all at the moment, but overall, I prefer bound books-I like committing to something for a longer period of time and I enjoy flipping through a book with lots of filled-in pages. Got the A5 Tomitaro Makino HON, which is a bit intimidating to me because I found the Cousin Avec quite stressful the last time I used it (first half of 2021). Hopefully, my strategy to section out designated journal and deco spaces will work out… 😂
    A good alternative to house a bound Passport book is the new Aura Estelle Passport cover, by the way, if you’re okay with vegan leather. It’s even roomier than the Passport Companion from Moterm. Just got the brown one, and my writing journal (Pocket size, from Create With Pen) fits in the back pocket perfectly! 🎉

    • @planningwithjohn
      @planningwithjohn  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I didn’t know Aura Estelle made a passport size now. That definitely sounds like they would have a similar aesthetic with the Sterling ink.

    • @jessplansandwrites
      @jessplansandwrites Před 9 měsíci

      @@planningwithjohn Their Passport Collection released only a short while ago. Regarding the aesthetic, I believe it depends. They’ve got darker and more muted colours (which is what I usually go for), but there is also a metallic silver cover that is very out there (or ostentatious, to use your wording) 😂

    I ordered the b6 and weeks versions from Sterling ink. Ive been using the undated for the last few months. What i like is i can use as much space as needed, rather than having to commit to a whole page. I dont use the quarterly/goals stuff at the beginning. I much prefer the weekly on two pages rather than the Hobinichi style. I just use one of Sterling Ink's clear covers.

    Chic Sparrow sells passport in regular size, and plus size. In the regular size you can only get the classic, which means, no pockets, but you can add stitching and/or a pen loop, unless you did a custom order, you can add pockets. However, if you want the passport plus size, go to the cascade option and chose passport plus. I believe this size has pockets. I have one passport plus, a classic in Austen, Morland. The notebook opened for me is measuring 9 1/2 by 5 1/2. It has six elastics. I really like it. I only have one passport size, a classic in Creme Chocolate Brown, and I can hardly get two inserts to fit good in there. I know Just Scribble seems to get two or three inserts comfortably in her passport size notebooks. For me, it is such a small size to begin with, you need that extra room around the edges to cover your inserts. I don't mind some over hang, but with regular CS passport, I just find them to small. Although, I like to add the plastic dashboards, and the canvas "wallet" insert from Moterm in there. Anyway, it is all trial and error. Unfortunately it can be expensive. If you did order something custom with CS, Jennifer said to stack up everything you want to put in your planner and put those measurements in as the one insert size and they will figure out what size to make the cover. That is all I know. lol Have a good day John.

    • @planningwithjohn

      I have a couple chic sparrow in passport and the regular size is just a little small.
