    Thank you for this video! Definitely helped me out through each step on my 2013 Passat 3.6 SE. I had a faulty PCV Valve and definitely to change the whole Valve Cover myself with the guide of this video. Only problem I ran into was the 2 big gaskets that are on the manifold. I installed them how you said and realized one of them was leaking air, causing random jumps in rpm. I took it off and put the 2 big gaskets on the manifold it’s self and set down on engine. Took away the air leak. Other than that, very helpful video.

    Awesome video! Replaced my valve cover today and went well. I will say that intake is heavy and awkward to put back, you’ll learn to hate your dipstick tube. Also, be extremely careful with those tabs on the coil connectors, broke 3 of em even when prying gently, but it happens like that when you use plastic parts on an engine that runs hot. No leaks no misfires. Apply a thin layer of dielectric grease with a cotton swab on the tips of the coils where the metal is, no need to put around the coil just in a little. And lastly, If you find oil on your coils and spark plugs make sure to brake clean, soak with a rag, and then dry out that bore to ensure you won’t need more coils and plugs earlier than usual. Thanks Raul!

      @TehEkHo Před rokem

      For the future, if you push the whole connector down while you're applying the sideways pressure to the tab, it will release a LOT easier.

    Did this today, I had a really bad time getting the intake back on. Ended up pulling it, and putting all gaskets on the top half of the manifold, practically installed itself after I did that. Maybe this will save someone some choice words.

    I know it is an old video, but u should had been change it too.
    When the PCV is broken, the engine starts shaking, idle rpm isnt smooth, and theirs oil burning.
    Thats what could solve ur problem. As I understood, u didnt changed it.

    WARNING: Following these directions will cause Check Engine Light; rough idle, misfiring.
    Explanation: Whilse most of this video is great, around 16min mark, Raul demonstrates fitting the manifold gaskets to both halves. This is incorrect and will cause a poor seal between the two halves of the manifold. ALL of the intake manifold gaskets need to be fitted to the top half only. If you do as this video demonstrates, it will create a vacuum leak which will throw the ECU and cause a lot of problems.
    I know because I followed these instructions (plus changed the PCV membrane inside the valve cover) and then spent 4 hours trying to resolve the misfiring. I was rechecking all electricals, all hoses, plugged in an OBD computer to download errors. I thought it was ignition as described at the end of this video but those suggestions did not fix anything. I was worried something fell in and jammed a valve. Or that my PCV replacement was poorly done.
    It was only until I pulled it down again to realise there was a poor interface between 2 of the O shaped intake gaskets.

      I wish I saw this comment 4 years ago when I did it. Ended with a vacuum leak and thought the O-rings are not sealing properly so I used gasket sealer as a desperate approach. Now I have to do it again due to PCV failiure and oil seeping all around the gaskets. Hopefully it'll seal well this time. I need to find a video how to replace the lower orange gaskets too and a good timing chain video for the same engine after 2009.
      BIG THANKS!

  • @motivpp
    @motivpp Před 2 lety

    I have to re-do mine again. Complete fail... For some reason it leaks oil again. I did the sealant in the crucial areas and torque sequence and ft/lbs properly. I noticed that there are intake bolts only on the front of intake ports and way back but there are no bolts directly on the inner side of intake ports. So it seems like its not putting enough pressure to all sides of the ports.
    Also, after I installed the orange seals I did a smoke test and realized there is a couple of small leaks due to the intake not sealing well on those orange seals. I made sure they were oriented properly and readjusted the intake a few times but still leaked air. Ended up putting the same sealant for the valve cover gasket bends. I think there is another leak on the lower part of the intake where the orange seals are connected. I could not get to replace those since I figured I might create more leaking than it already has. Not sure how much it'll cost me to fix it. Apparently, I am incapable of doing this job right :D Thanks for the info tho!
