Love the deliberately dark, almost evil tone of the battle theme. Doing my first playthrough now and yeah the music just fits so well with Velvet and her desire for vengeance.
Did you seriously go with Binding Order instead of Indignation?! What kind of *thing* quotes a Laphicet mystic arte other than Indignation?! FINE! IF YOU WON'T DO IT, I WILL! "Spirits Release! I stand in the light of the heavens! Cower before the gates of hell! Come forth, Divine lightning! This ends now! INDIGNATION!"
I’ve started to play this game again. There is one thing I noticed with Velvet’s artes. The further she goes along, the more aggressive it becomes in nature. All the way to Defiant Conviction. Where you see her rage approaching its peak. It is actually a nice arte to stop on before Nightmare Claw. Which shows her elevating emotions, setting the stage for Impulse Desire. Another thing to notice, is that even her battle style opposes what is reason. It isn’t a normal one, let alone manages to cover for itself. I’ve played this game a few times, and they devs really went all out here. I’ve played a few Tales Games, but the one that really got me into them was Berseria. I’ve been looking at Tales of Arise. Though, from what I am observing. It looks like a massive downgrade. I’ll probably get it when it is on a massive sale. So I don’t go raging if I do actually end up hating it. But anyway, just all around Berseria excelled. Story, characters, skits, battles, etc. Also, for those playing this game. The stat to home in on is focus. Especially so for Velvet. She is the one you’ll want with the highest focus, as to keep her in an immortal state. Her power tremendously increases in her therion state. She is unable to die in this state, on top of not being able to be staggered. As the title would imply, she is a berserker character. Her strongest point is attacking without end. As that covers her offensively and defensively. The focus stat makes her able to abuse this. You can even call the rest of the characters a support that works around her style of battle. As they help to create openings for her to stun her enemies, and enter into therion state permanently. At the same time, the rest of the characters are creatively done to be able to stand on their own as well. It is really an interesting mixture. Just remember, if you are going to play the game. Focus stat is the most important one. If the enemy cannot attack you, then you’re safe. Another thing to note, which I really only noticed this play through. To balance Velvet, it looks like they gave her stats an overall lower average. This means, you’ll have to work twice as hard to get her up to speed on high difficulties, if not more. However, despite this, she is the most powerful character in the game.
I've played all the Tales games (Japanese versions too) up to Tales of Zestiria. Then med school kicked in, working on my PhD at the moment. Listening to the music of this and later instalments makes me excited to play again. I've bought all the OSTs and loved every one (except for Legendia as 60% of the game's tracks were either omitted or had a "Special OST version" that was not in the game, but somehow was worse than original OST of the game..?) Your description excites me, even though I don't know anything about the game. Thanks for this!
@@eisenstahl No, as in my older brother did. So, I watched a large portion of it and tried some of it. Needless to say, I would have been pissed if I bought it. I suppose it worked out either way.
@@edgevalmond6173 welp, in my case, I was pessimistic at Arise after I had finished Berseria. Glad I purchased Arise. Flaming edge gameplay felt addictive and satisfying. Perhaps there's much difference between watching and playing it directly after all.
@@eisenstahl I’m glad you enjoyed it. ^^ As I said, I played a portion of it. It didn’t sell me. I game a lot, played thousands over my years. Finished most, still a portion I just dropped and never returned to. Needless to say, if I watch something, I can see if I will play it or not. From just watching things, I will know if I will enjoy it or not. Still, for extra precaution, I decided to try it a bit. I just got bored of it after some time, and I really just forgot about it until you brought it up.

@@Demi-Joker I was only doing the Lv1 MA's for this, seeing aa how it's the first battle theme. XD
For the life of me I don't hear "Spirits, Release!" with Laphicet. Not even if I slow it down. I hear "fair price" or something like that, lol.
I could just hear them ah ah
Ah man this brings back memories
I love this song

Played Arise yet? I enjoyed arise much more than Berseria.
