    It’s like Joe Lycett said: we have spent years referring to someone as “pitbull.” So what’s the problem?

    Why are they calling him “her” though? He’s super famous and everyone knows he’s a man. He’s always cross-dressed a fair bit but everyone knows he’s a he.
    Did he ask to be called “her”? I’m so confused.

    I first saw Izzard in a comedy club in Catford sometime around 1989-1991. I instantly sussed him as a wrung 'un. He gave off the vibe of being a gay man who didn't like straight men, almost to the point of hating them. That's the impression I got.

    Isn't this a good example to prove that the majority of people don't care what you do or look like as long as you're pleasent also of course he's a man and I believe that's how he see's himself .

      @@samanthab1923 why? Eddie has talked about this in interviews for ages ... wiki quotes an interview from 2019. How long do trans people need to explain themselves when audiences have google?

    Used to love Eddie's stand up. He was a transvestite and said so. Now that would be trans. He has become ridiculous.

    • @giteausuperstar
      @giteausuperstar Před 15 dny +2

      Transvestite and trans are different things though. Transvestites are people just dressing in the other gender’s clothing. A trans person is actually living as the opposite sex. My point is, he can still be a male transvestite. There’s no need to change his categorisation, so to speak.
      Anyway, it’s all a bit confusing these days but Eddie izzard is not trans, he’s a bloke as far as I’m aware.

    Dude, if you don't know the answers to these questions you really have not been following Eddie's career. You could have done about a three second Google search and got the answers to all your questions.
    But I guess performative rage at something that really doesn't affect you is how you get your kicks

    • @yazzfetto
      @yazzfetto  Před 15 dny

      So, I googled 'is Eddie Izzard trans?' and the search brought up numerous articles, several of which noted that he had changed his name. He, apparently, changed his name or wanted to be known as Suzy Eddie Izzard. Does this mean he was or wasn't Suzy when he appeared on this programme? I believe he wants to be known as genderfluid but if that was the case, again, surely he would've gone by Suzy Eddie on GMB so he could have been called her and not Eddie which is a variation on Edward and a name given to a male... For what it's worth, I don't think I displayed any rage performative or otherwise in this video. Confusion perhaps but not rage.

    • @lrob06
      @lrob06 Před 15 dny +1

      Eddie has come out and said she wants to be know as "she", I think because now it's more common place and accepted than it was when she was first doing comedy (she's also said she understands that people may still call her Eddie and isn't going to be pissed off - oh, and Eddie can be female). Isn't it just nice to call people what they want to be called? It's really not that big a deal

    • @samcroft7084
      @samcroft7084 Před 15 dny +1

      @@yazzfetto She uses the name Eddie in publicity because that's the name she's always used in her career forever.
      She uses the name Suzy as well, perhaps more in her private life - so you don't need to worry about that.
      I'm sure you're aware of other performers that have a stage name that differs from the name they were given at birth (David Bowie, Olivia Coleman, The Edge, Pele, Ice-T), so this shouldn't be an issue)
      She has also said that she has too much to do to be worrying about what gender you want to use. If it takes people a while to figure out which one, she's fine with that.

  • @AppNetEnt

    So, *you* get confused and therefore others have to adhere to your way of thinking because *you* have a problem with it? Who the hell cares?
    There is a multitude of interviews with Eddie and she has always said she identifies as a woman but has only just gone public with it. She actually doesn't care if people misgender her as a result of this.
    czcams.com/video/Rf1kuH0dNwM/video.html
    What I find baffling though, as Miriam Margoyles once said, if it makes someone happy to call someone the gender they identify as why the hell wouldn't you want to do that?
    What gives *you* or anyone else the gravitas or simply the authority to define who anyone else is?
    Hey, I am a gay man. 100% man. No lesser a man because I am gay, but I am exactly that, a man. I don't fully understand the pain and rationale behind what anyone feels they are, but I have no right to dictate to anyone, nor do you, who or what they are. I don't *need* to understand it from my perspective. But I do need to understand that it has an impact on others. How do you feel if someone started calling you something you're not?
    That's simply bigotry.

    Eddie or her leagal name is Suzy Izzard did come out as trans in the 70s/80s. She has always been out as Trans, however her name change only happened last year. she has done stuff about being trans from the begaining of her stand up career.
    She is always been this is only part of my personaltiy unlike a lot of people where it seems to be in every sentence they say, or at least record she has just got on with it. Suzy is now a little bit more vocal about her gender.
    She has alway been trans. In my opinion one of the kindest and understanding trans out there, being able to be called Eddie and not making such a deal with all of it. I highly respect that. So we can pay that respect back by using the preferred pronouns of Suzy (Eddie) Izzard can we not?
