Everyone knows that major brands produce great products. But lesser-known brands make quality parts as well. Retired Navy SEAL Mark "Coch" Cochiolo likes finding and using smaller brands of quality that function well.
TakPack got a wind of this and sent "Coch" a box AR parts and accessories for him to try out on his own. (All of the parts are from previous TacPack boxes.)
So, Coch is selecting the parts he wants to use in this video, and in part 2, he will have everything assembled, test everything on the range, and give his thoughts.

Really appreciate you doing videos like this to prove that even blue collar family guys can afford to build a functional rifle.
Love the “box knife”. 😉
you lost me at subscription box.
As a southpaw, I prefer conventional right handed fire controls as I can feel the safety with my trigger finger and I manipulate the bolt release with my trigger finger
Hey Coch, since you have inside knowledge of the SCAR, can you do an “upgrades you consider giving thought to” video to. Especially various scopes - optics segment. Scar heavy is my interest.
I wish some of the actual big boxes I got from them had as much in them as you got in yours. You said the quiet part last. That was NOT a typical Big Box from TacPack, it was an example of stuff they have sent out previously.
It's nice that they sent you all that gear. It's a bit of a slight to the normal us membership folks though, since you would NEVER get all that gear in a single box, and are required to order every box each month in hopes of getting something good. Instead we get boxes with 1, maybe 2, (sometimes 0) good items and a bunch of filler gear or other crap no one really wants. I think they'd have a much better membership if they'd maybe offer one box a quarter and it was filled with solid gear, weapon parts, etc. Or offer a "weapons" type special order box, even if it cost more $$, and fill it all with solid choice gear like they did in yours.
Good video, love the content lately. Just so you guys know there’s a buzz in the audio, it’s a tad annoying. Not hating
I hear it too. Sad you have to say not hating because you know people are super sensitive smh.
Nice box opener.
That is called a 'KHUKRI'. The signature knife of Gurkha soldiers of India and Nepal.
I can confirm that all of this came in tacpack boxes over a years time. I didn’t get that mag plate The one that didn’t add any rounds which I don’t care about
I'd use ballistic advantage Hanson barrel and a aero precision upper and lower
I use the same set up. Never been disappointed with them.
I got that Swampfox in one of their boxes a while back and put it on my 300 AAC upper. It’s a really solid optic. I love the mini crosshairs reticle.
I thought this was going to be "How to build a rifle/drag bag for high value targets". Which would probably be a great video, actually.
Mystery box subscriptions are IQ tests, to be honest. It makes more sense to the seller than the buyer. Now if you could make your own list of "what" (i.e., magazines) and the company picked the "who" (i.e., Magpul/Surefeed) from a list of multiple manufacturers, it would be worthwhile.
When I put together ar's I made sure I had everything I needed. I wasn't going to wait possibly months for a random part.
Nice series, hopefully more different value series custom rifle build series next. From mid, to upper to gucci tier builds
Great idea for a build
Video idea: Do a before, and after of a stock AR after adding those parts.
Thanks again Frogman!
You may have finally convinced me to subscribe to tac pak
Cool
Coch, if that's the knife you open boxes with I'd hate to see the one you use to open bad guys.
Does anyone else hear a really bad audio whine in this video?
Pocket Kukri. Never leave home without it.
'Khukri' the signature knife of Gurkhas
Lol this is peak parts bin build.
Nice video and I do subscribe to the Tacpack plus but this IS the best of the previous boxes. You don't get all this in 1 monthly box. Just to be clear
Yes, correct. Coch mentions that in the video.
@@TacticalHyve Yep. why i was saying "Just to be clear." Many people will miss things and complain later. Ive gotten several needed tools that I needed to buy but got them via tacpack and that's why I still subscribe.
Honestly? not impressed with this vid. I love this channel and all involved and I look forward to the finished product and opinions but... not what I expect from you guys.. Still gave thumbs up.
Yeah, agree. Seemed like a 9 minute commercial for tac pack. Disappointing. But I guess they need to keep the lights on too.
Those are actually some pretty good parts for sure .
Coch where you ever on the USS Anchorage and if you where did you break someone’s nose goofing around in the birthing area because I think you look familiar and my nose is still crooked haha have a good one brother
🙋 🙋
6:25 oh i know that one from Escape from Tarkov, gives -5% recoil +15 ergo
Good video. I'd avoid Luth-AR products like the plague. I got two of their stripped upper receivers and the channel along the top was out-of-spec enough that it incorrectly clocked the bolt (incorrectly aligned cam pin). If the bolt isn't correctly clocked when it enters the barrel extension then the bolt lugs just contact the rear of the barrel extension and it doesn't permit the proper functionality. I installed all of the parts from those two stripped uppers (neither worked) onto upper receivers from bravo company USA and Anderson and they worked flawlessly. Furthermore, when informed with a detailed account of the issues, Luth asks for the receivers back to inspect (you pay for shipping, not them) and then they inform you the uppers are in-spec and then they keep the uppers AND your money. Don't do business with Luth-AR. Just a shyte company, really.
I have no experience with their uppers. Although I did buy the Luth MBA 1 stock and it’s fantastic. Been using it for a couple years now on my 18 in 223 wylde.
Thank you Coch. But don’t you think a “high value” rifle is subjective? What could be a “entry level” rifle for some could be a “high value” for others. Just sayin’
What no actual build what a tease
Hexmag junk. At least Lancer did something different. Hex is just a cheap knockoff of the PMAG. 😂
ahhh this video lost me this is an ad i am so disappointed i thought i was gonna get real info
Straight up junk parts, who are y’all trying to kid?
a box of crap
Brother I love you but I’m subscribed to them and you will never get a pack like this I’m sorry but this was put together literally for you or at your request please don’t do this again how can I trust a review of a battlepack that doesn’t exist in real life I understand you have to get paid but let’s all look at the items here. I’m sorry but this kind of follow the group crap made me unsubscribe to the channel I know you guys are special forces but why sell your soul for money
Sounds like you didn't hear Coch mention--twice--that the box was specifically made for him from parts in previous boxes.
