Wel Seppe de Belgische Airforce heeft er zeven gekocht en Luxemburg één ,maar ze opereren te samen dus er zullen Belgische piloten met de Luxemburgse vliegen en Luxemburgse met de Belgische .Zo ook zullen de opdrachten verdeeld worden . Het is een beetje zoals de Belgische Marine samenwerkt met de Nederlandse Vloot, alsook de nieuwe tanker vliegtuigen die we samen gaan gebruiken met de Nederlanders.

Maybe a new variant of the DC-3 could be developed along similar design principles. Great small prop transport. Turboprop it now, I guess filters for the dust. Turbine driven props may replace fans in many applications, civilian transport designers are looking into bringing them back if they can achieve comparable cruise speeds. Maybe a C-17/C-5 replacement would be driven by turbo-props even, with some new exotic blade design. Somewhat better resilience against foreign-object-debris problems, though you still need to protect the turbine engine with some kind of filter. The C-130 is the clear direct antecedent to this A400M, although their were also earlier Airbus variants. The Embraer light transport is another interesting vehicle in this space -- there are also many in Russia currently, both turbo-prop and turbo-fan. Changing not only military but industrial logistics.

it honestly looks more like a C-17 with props than a C-130. Not much similarities in my opinion.

@@MrSchwabentier That makes sense. They were designed about the same time, so the similar materials and data were available to the designers. The C130 is from another era. The huge fin and tail are so obviously similar to the C17 to improve low speed control when heavily loaded. Its handling and manouverability in the air and on the ground are amazing.
