    Great repair video,
    I wanted to add one tip since I just did this repair on my Cuisinart grill:
    Replace that stubborn bolt and nut holding the auger to the motor shaft with a pull-out cotter pin the size of a 6-32 machine screw,
    Problem solved next time it happens! 😊😊😊

    • @anullhandle
      @anullhandle Před rokem

      That pita bolt is a shear bolt which "should" fail before the motor gear reduction box strips out. It bends but does not fail. 1 leg of a skinny cotter and snipped/bent just past the motor shaft should probably work as designed or be 10x easier to get out if it doesn't fail the next time the auger jams.

      Lol my fix was a Dremel, cut a little hole in the side to reach a screwdriver into the side of the box and it worked perfect. I then covered the hole with duck tape. Very effective solution!

    This is John Wall. Your video is extremely helpful. I've seen all the others & yours is the most through & easiest to follow. Hooooowever, it would have been very helpful if you had followed through showing us how to reassemble what we had taken apart. Example: attaching the auger shaft to the motor shaft isn't fool proof. If you don't reassemble those two exactly as you took them apart there will be no dismembering them in the future. In my case I had solid sawdust cement in the entire auger tube. The auger wouldn't budge even using vice grips & a 2 lb. hammer. It was incredibly tedious to get the auger out & then the sawdust cement. All of that said, I am very grateful for your tutorial !

    Thanks sooo much. Mine was clogged as well following these instructions got it cleared right up!. When taking off the motor, to get the lock nut off, I used a 5.5m socket in one hand to hold the nut in place and a screw driver in the other hand to loosen the screw.

      Also found if you sheer the bolt to auger like I did once just put cotter pin in it to replace bolt cheaper for the pin and more simple in future tear down in my opinion and I just would turn on igniter and let it light it and just on off with dial to give auger a break to not burn up motorized fan will stay going for a while

      I would rather do that. I cooked out one Dat and had a heavy rain right after I finished. It couldn't put the cover back on because the grill was still hot. I used some picks and hooks to break up the hardened pellet dust, however it still will not move.

Best dorections you can ask for. Pro-tip: For reassembly, put the auger motor shaft screw (the one that is hard to get to with the lock nut) on first with the auger and then slide the whole assembly in with the auger plug. It makes it SOOOO easy to put that lock nut back on.

    I'd like to throw out a little tip, as I just did this exact auger clean out. I followed your tips all the way through the video except, knocking out the pellet concrete from the tube. Once you get your auger out it will fit perfectly in a large drill. Use your drill with the auger and drill out what's in there comes out easy.

    Love my Cuisinart pellet grill, but the exhaust being open to rain is a real pisser. Working on it again now for probably the third or fourth time I’ve had to do this. I’m going to make a quick cover for just the exhaust vent in the back that I can put on regardless if it’s hot or cold that will save me from having to do this again.

    Darn it that this happened to me... I'm sure I'm guilty of using wet-ish pellets... I'm not even sure if this is my problem BUT my grill was smoking like crazy and then I'd here this *poof* as if has had been lit... that's no gas tho. So I'm assuming this is my issue. I'm gonna try a couple easier fixes first, but at least with these easy step by step directions I don't fear anything... other than getting myself a pair of needlenose pliers ahead of time... and maybe a cotter pin to replace that with. Thanks for this video.

  • @deputydillhole
    @deputydillhole Před rokem

    A much easier way is to clean it out as much as possible with a screwdriver and a shop vac. Then turn it on to see which way the auger wants to turn. Clamp onto the auger with some locking pliers and manually assist it with moving while turning the dial off and on. It will eventually budge and dispense the pellet mass. I've done it many times and it works every time. Also the pellet sensor was garbage on mine so I just unplugged it, now it always says low pellets but it will not turn itself off or have an annoying beeping. I just manually light my pellets using lighter fluid and a long lighter and avoid using the hot rod which eventually fails again and again. Make sure you don't have the fan running while trying to light them this way or it will be impossible to light. Just unplug it to turn the fan off.

    • @anullhandle
      @anullhandle Před rokem

      If you mean the case screws a little penetrating oil on them might help. If the head phillips portion stripped out a flat head screwdriver with a hex on the shaft might help if the remaining slot portion is not too damaged. Provide large down force with one hand and use a wrench on the screwdriver hex with the other hand. If the head is beyond hope you can try drilling the head of the screw off that will allow the cover to come off then provide a little purchase on the remaining screw shank with some pliers. When you do get the cover off trash all screws with any damage and replace them. Never reinstall worn fasteners and use some antisieze,grease,vaseline etc. on the replacements. If the housing female threads are a little buggered full round screws might hold. The oems are trilobed. If they are toast same or next size up self tapper sheet metal screw will hold. Good luck.

      It's a great pellet grill, especially for the price. Other than the self induced auger jam, I haven't had any issues with it and we've used it non-stop since we got it earlier this year. My only warning to you is that if you have non-grilling members in your family that like to cook, don't let them know how simple using a pellet grill is or you will be fighting over who get's to use it. I made the mistake of showing my gal how easy it is to use and she has basically confiscated it from me.

    I would dump the pellets after i was done cooking into bucket. Moisturizer in the air will F the pellets up to. Or mice like to make home in them.

      Haven't really had the fuse issue so I'm afraid I can't help there.

      Dead - It was dead before I started. I clean it out completely. Two items of note 1. There was no boot over the end of the shaft
      2. The nut holding the motor to the auger was broken btw a #6-32 × 1 inch screw and nut is an sub $1.00 fix

    Just put an air chisel on both ends of the auger till it breaks loose.

    You mentioned emptying the hopper first. I don't have this grill yet, is there an easy way to empty the hopper?

    • @kenallred2215
      @kenallred2215 Před 2 lety

      There is a trap door to remove the pellets on the hopper

      @@kenallred2215 Make sure you have a container under the trap door, because they will come falling out.

    Got mine apart and back together. Everything works but my auger is spinning the wrong way so it’s not pushing pellets it’s pulling them back to the box. Any suggestions?

    • @MidLifeDraftee
      @MidLifeDraftee  Před 3 lety

      Only thing I can think of is that you crossed some wires (positive and negative in the wrong spots) powering the auger motor

      No. It's pretty bad. The only thing that helps is to keep your phone in line of sight of the grill but it's still a bit flakey. If I'm in our kitchen area next to the back patio where the grill is just outside the window, it works ok but if I go in the other rooms with my phone.... gone.

      That's not good. I'd say reach out to Ember Grills (embergrills.com). They are the company the designed this grill for Cuisinart.

    You didn't have to remove that tough screw lol. Just the big one holding the auger plug... then you just pull the whole motor out while it's connected to the auger ....

  • @wegwog
    @wegwog Před 2 lety

    Anyone else have the unfortunate experience of the screw part that he said u need a needle nose plier being on the bottom so only the nut is exposed?

    • @PENAPICASSO
      @PENAPICASSO Před rokem +1

      Just undo the big screw holding the auger plug in place, then pull the motor out with the auger connected....
