Cigarettes and alcohol addiction actually destroyed my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Germany. Congrats! I'm really happy for you that your friend decided to help you. I always admire those who beat their addiction. Knowing it's possible to fix your life knowing there's people out there that have done what I thought was impossible gives me hope I will make it through as well. Those who share their experiences don't know how much it helps when you're about to give up, it gives you the strength knowing somone who actully know what it's like to go through this tell you it's possible, it's not the same somone telling you you can do it when they have no idea what it's like, but hearing somone who knows what it's like that helps a lot since you understand it firsthand and made it out gives so much hope. so thanks for sharing.

I quit on 11/08/2014. I was a half a pack to a pack a day smoker for 5.5 years. It was my favorite thing to do and quitting was the hardest thing I ever did. It took me 4 years of just trying to quit before I was able to, but when I did it became one of my greatest accomplishments. If you're trying to quit I have a lot of advice for you but my biggest tip is to remember that the cravings will go away and it does get easier. Also don't beat yourself up if you fail and feel like you have lost all of your progress, this is not true. Attempting to quit and failing multiple times actually does make it easier to succeed because every day of not smoking is another day that you get in the habit of not doing it. Just take a deep breath and try again.

It's important to remember that you don't have to quit cold turkey. It took me several tries, but I finally found that the step down patches worked for me. I smoked for 30 years and was up to 2 packs a day. I quit smoking September 12, 2018 and I quit nicotine November 8, 2018. Five years later and I can't imagine ever going back.
Few, heavy smokers quit on the first try. Keep trying until you find what works for you. One thing I know for certain is that you have to want to quit. Your will power will be tested daily for the first month or so. It's not easy, but it's worth it just to breathe easier.

I remember when I started vaping and smoking. That same year I made my first attempt to quit and when 6 months without it. But I hung out with the wrong crowd and mistakes were made. 2 years later (present day) I’ve tried multiple times but failed. But 1 week and 2 days ago I made another attempt to quit again and so far I more confident than ever to not make the same mistakes again. I started smoking when I was 16. Now I’m 19. I’m Making the right choices before it’s too late. Not only for myself but, for my family. 🙂

No one told me that I would get sick repeatedly the first year after quitting. Serious cravings lasted up to a year. Still had the occasional hyperrealistic smoking dream 5 years after quitting.
It's been 7 years and I still get the occasional urge to smoke, but it it's fleeting and isn't a serious draw. Just keeping it real for the people who recently quit.

I quit smoking 5 months ago, I promised my wife when she got pregnant that Ill quit. (I used to smoke half a pack a day since I was 18 years old - now I am 39)
How I did it ?, I just threw the pack of cigarettes, and that was it. it wasn't easy though. it requires will power, the 1st week was so hard, and till now, when I see someone smoking, with coffee, or after lunch, I feel tempted to grab one, but I never do, and I will never do.
Healthwise I feel more energetic, my mornings are way better, no smell, no coughing, still a little bit of Mucus sometimes. I gained up to 6Kg after quitting, so I bought a bicycle, to help get my weight back to normal, and I am avoiding carbs and sugar.
Now I can go biking, up to 30 km in one trip.
    Wish me luck!

Update? I quit only 7 hrs ago I refuse to let it control me any longer than it already has, I'm only 22 and I've been smoking got 5 yrs already, I can't take deep breaths, I have hardly any taste buds I'm always sick and my chest just is filled with way too much fluid, my sister's have picked up the habit too and my brother begs me to stop so here I go into the unknown! I hope you're still on the right path my friend, keep it up!

@@purpleheartedkatelee7749 here is an update :), 1st I got my new baby girl, and I cant be more proud as a father of 3 (quitting smoking is an achievement, specially in my case, I have been smoking for 20+ years), 2nd I lost 11 kg, so far, still on no carbs, no sugar diet, 4 meals a day, and lots of vegetables and fruits, and still biking between 10km - 35km every 3 days. My craving for cigarettes, is wayyyyy less than it was before, I still crave it sometimes, but it is very rare, mainly when I drink alcohol, and thats it.
the main difference I feel, is my mornings, and how energetic I am, no more coughs, and no more mucus (enjoy breathing ;).
Just stay motivated and dont think about cigarettes, I know it is not easy, but nothing is impossible, YOU CAN DO IT, use lots of chewing gums, and some sugar free candies, they help a lot, and whenever you crave it, go do something that takes it away (like playing a game, driving around, eating something, or call someone you know to help you.
Remember, 1 cigarette, might get you back to smoking, and destroy all the hardwork you put into quitting.
      Best of luck!!

I quit some three days ago, and decided to go with council and medication this time. It's been incredibly rough. I smoked about fifty to sixty cigarettes a day for years. Every single moment I'm awake now, is consumed by heavy cravings, and with everything I do, I notice my hands instinctively grabbing for cigarettes that aren't there. If any young people are reading this who might be considering trying a cigarette - don't. It'd be one of the worst decisions you'll ever make.

You won't regret it and think how much money you'll save!! Lol. The hardest part is that I live in the French Quarter on lower Bourbon St. EVERYONE smokes. Even people that don't normally smoke, do it here. I'm glad I'm not a drinker. I've heard that triggers it too and I live around drinkers. I guess getting fat is a small price to pay until I get it out of my system. Did or do you dream about smoking? I have the craziest dreams where I sneak off and buy a pack of ciggs and go down by the river and smoke one after another. In another dream I was in prison and was smoking a whole pack. Not sure why prison was in my dream, I'm sure it was symbolic. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement. I really need it right now. Michelle

If you still are struggling, try Allen Carrs book about quitting - it helped me and I have not smoked for almost 8 months AND I have NO desire to start again.
The book has some points about health issues, but it is mostly about the psychological addiction, so it does not bash you over the head with possible heart attacks all the time. What is even better, you can keep smoking while reading it, but by the time you finish it, you wont want to continue smoking - at least, from my experience. However, if you are not into books, then there are his clinics all over the world, but the sessions are quite pricey when compared to the book.
