    I’d like to say a big thank you for this video!! I have just completed this job but without out this video would have taken years to do! So thank you so much!
    Just a note for those who are planning to do this: i haven’t drop the coolant as suggested, i only lost about 200ml when disconnected and i blanked the 3 pipe ending keeping the coolant in the heater core. This will save you one job out of the many. I worked on my f10 523i N53 engine

    16:25 you can take a 5mm Allen wrench and turn the arrow. That turns the tab sideways. 😅pops right off.

    Man I take my hat off to you for this job.. Question... For just an expansion valve replacement, is the dash still required to be removed like this?

    I did this job about 10 years ago on a E60 diesel and it is as much pain as it looks…. Now I have an AC issue on my F10 M5 - I’m praying it is not the evaporator! 😢

  • @troyr3478

    Any squeaks or rattles from the dash or console after everything was put back together? MY 540 will be gutted soon to perform the same evaporator repair, and I'm nervous it wont be the same afterwards.

    Tip for yall stuck on the heater core. Once you get the tabs off the hoses, use needle nose angled pliers to rotate them and break the seal

    What were the symptoms that you felt you needed to replace the evaporator? My car is high pressure on the low side and low pressure on the high side… heater and blower works just no a/c working …

    @73937mario Před rokem

    Great video. But I still managed to screw it up. Went to turn on ac and all I’m getting is a loud sound from the blower motor working but no air through vents. Any ideas on where to start?

  • @LucidLoki
    @LucidLoki Před rokem +1

    Or another option…a/c delete😂😂. But really, looks like a daunting task. Only worth it if you had another car to dd and would be good to just start it one day and do a little every day in phases until its done.

    I kinda wish your camera hadn't struggled to focus but yea.
    Also, how long did the entire process take??
    I have to get my vehicle's evaporator replaced next week and shudder at the prospect of the vehicle being dirtied in the process.

    • @YEVSBUILDS
      @YEVSBUILDS  Před rokem

    • @zlord1199
      @zlord1199 Před 2 lety

      The evaporator is not located in the engine it's in the dash as you can see.

      @@zlord1199 he knows, but he said that he rather do an engine swap. So he prefers do a engine swap over this job.

    So if the bmw is not loosing freon but the ac does not work ( blows hot air) could it be the expansion valve the issue?

    I have 2017 530 I. I went to the dealer and estimated my cost of $4800 but they offered to pay 75 percent of it. Just makes no sense to me how it goes out because my car only has 50 k miles on it and it's a very tough process.

    • @YEVSBUILDS
      @YEVSBUILDS  Před 2 lety +4

      Man honestly probably a good full 20 hours or so. I mean granted, we would do a little bit of work every day after our full time jobs and it was a total of about a week or so but if we were to brake it down into hours, then probably 15-20.
