This is seriously impressive! And honestly I quite like the covered walkways, that's a cool way to get around the console's limitations. The team who ported this must be literal wizards, massive props to them for pulling this off!

actually the covered walkways/ bridges aren't exclusive to the Switch port. The PS4/Xbox One versions have them too.

WB can't get enough props for taking a massively popular IP and making a complete game with no live service BS or microtransactions attached to it. They also took the time and care to make sure every version is a proper version of the game. I wish more games had the care and attention put in to them like WB did Hogwarts.

Bro i commend u, the only to the point technical analysis of the switch version i found yet. Thanks buddy, all the other fools are just talking on the basis of the first 30 mins of the game which are obviously very well optimized on almost all platforms, even my i3 pc runs it fairly very well 😅
Are the amount of enemies on screen at a given time in particular areas (or in general) reduced compared to other consoles?!?
Just fyi the corridors between hogwarts sections was first introduced for the PS4/Xbox One versions, and is thus not unique to the Switch version.
It is actually insane that we are living in a time where you felt the need to put that disclaimer at the beginning.

Honestly, this is nothing short of a miracle. Such massive game running natively on such old hardware is really impressive. When played on the small screen it should be looking alright.

No handheld footage at all? Otherwise an awesome video and breakdown. I've got it on my Steam Deck so I'm not double-dipping but its really cool and impressive what they've done here and it'll potentially get them a LOT more sales of the game.

I bought the switch specifically to play this game because I played on my cousins ps5 and loved it. A little disappointed it isn’t as good but I’m very happy I got to play at all since I’m not an avid gamer (got my first console 3 months ago)
Although the game somewhere felt incomplete because of all the mechanics introduced in the first hours that felt somewhat ignored later (like choices of companions, curfew, etc.) the world building was extremely good and the overall experience aswell. I've had a lot of fun with this game and still play it from time to time: the combat system is funny and satisfying, the mounts are amazing and the overall aesthetic is original and pleasing.
Too bad that some hurt ass, psychotic activists felt the need to boycott this product, like anythig else tied to JK Rowling, to the point that now even the game awards look like a joke because they clearly are boycotting this product in fear of being in the middle of some sort of made up "scandal".

If the gameplay and overall experience is great, I don't care about graphics fidelity. I am so tired "reviews" that compare consoles that don't even belong in the same generation.
This is great, might pick it up when it gets a discount, but right now gotta save my money for super Mario RPG.

Anyone who has played any game on a computer or a switch knows they were going to have to make some changes to this game. Why people are making such big deal about this baffles me.

Hard is when you actually optimize assets to use less memory while looking the same.
That kind of stuff they probably didn't really bother with.
I am sure that the same game build on Unreal Engine 3 could look and run better on the switch than it currently does.

I got this on Series X and Switch and Steam Deck.
Personally I was pretty bumped about the quality on the switch. A lot of patterns or surroundings are pixelated and the hair on characters always seems to glitch. I have been playing skyrim for some time now and the graphics om there look a lot better! I wonder why they kept the quality for Hogwarts Legacy so low..

Very interesting impossible port
People complain about the fact that some compare BotW with Pokémon SV even though I think that comparison is fair and now we have this game running on Switch and from what I can see they did an amazing job. Now compare that with Pokémon and you have no argument anymore pro Pokémon SV.
This game proves Mortal Kombat 1 Switch has no excuse of being a terrible port other than the fact it's rushed and only made to make money.

Hopefully it’s backwards compatible so they don’t have to go through the trouble of re-porting all of these games, and just release updates that improve visuals and performance on Switch 2
I am very disappointed in Nintendo. I bought a Switch Oled, in May, because I wanted to play three games, two Fire Emblem games and Hogwarts Legacy. I have waited months for Hogwarts Legacy to come out. Now my May order is on back order. People are selling the game on EBay for outrageous prices. How can this be? 😠

Ffs JK Rowling is not some sort of Boogeyman. You can support Harry Potter without supporting her. Not sure why you need to make a big deal out of it for a small vocal minority. You can’t compare it with Xbox version. It would have been more fair to compare it with a Steam Deck or Lenovo Legion or ROG Ally.

Putting a disclaimer before a video discussing something Harry Potter related is a sad commentary on today's society and the absolute backetcases we're surrounded by.
It's not a matter of how they got it on switch, but more the matter of why? What made them go out of their way to put it on switch? Either the Devs really love the switch? Or they had a point to prove. Well, either way, they proved their point with this port.

WB published game, which means a version for every system, especially the best selling one. You had the same concept in the ps3/360/wii generation, especially with movie/tv show tie in games. There was a version for every popular console, even DS/PSP/GBA, and obviously the wii, being a much less powerful system, would get watered down versions of games, or sometimes even completely alternate versions. It’s all about selling the most copies

Millions of Switch players only own....a Switch. I have young children, when I'm taking them to various activities, I see other young kids packing along a Switch. I'm sure WB figured a Switch port might net a profit, so they went to the devs and requested to see if it could be done and the devs were up to the challenge. Alot of younger children could care less about graphics (Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite to name a few), especially since high graphics games these days tend to suck.
@chrisp174 never seen a comment more wrong! First of all, where are you getting your statistics from? Those millions of sales aren't from kids! It's mostly older people and young men and women that have switches. I rarely see kids with a switch. Most kids plays on a tablet, pc or an xbox. Most kids I know have xbox's. Whatever though I guess.

The Switch at this point is like an old man trying to compete at the olympics. So many modern games have to compromise so much only for them to still run horribly. I hope the next system can do so much more so it doesn't get so many of these games.
Bad analogy. Old man Switch has beaten both rivals in terms of sales. Switch has outsold PS4 by 13million so far which puts it 3rd overall bestselling console. DS and PS2 are the only consoles standing in its way. In the next 2 years we could very possibly see Switch be crowned king depending on when the new Nintendo console releases.

I just bought Hogwarts legacy deluxe edition for my switch oled let me tell u its my best port game i ever play the gameplay play and run so freakin good im not gonna worry about the graphic it doesn’t bother me a damn bit as along as the gameplay play really good and have no lag im good and happy loadin time it doesn’t bother me a damn bit either
