Macularissues are not common with HCQS. Incidence is 1 in 45000 patients after two years of use. It is quite a safe medicine

I am new as warrior.recently diagnosed after taking covid vaccine ,i felt pain in my neck,then after 3months in my knee..i took physiotherapy,it gives me relief but after that I feel stiffness in my back &in knee also.lfeel no pain earlier in my body iam 36 years old. Sir I have been diagnosed with axial spondyloarthritis last year November.Till now I am on medicines like saaz ds, tfct-nib.. In the earlier days I was on steroid tablets for 1month Or so.my question is whether these medicines cause harms if taken for continuous years.. I am taking these meds from nov 2021 till present day.should I be dependent on these for my entire life? Or someday or other I can be medicine free for the rest of my life?
1) These medicines are required for a long time since AS is a chronic disease. You will be monitored for side effects by your rheumatologist.
2) These are medicines control the AS inflammation. This does not equal to dependency. Please do not look at this as dependency.
3) If your AS remains in remission for a long time, these can be reduced.

Tofacitinib can be taken for years to control the arthritis. Please keep seeing your rheumatologist for monitoring & guidance

High CRP indicate karta hai ki aapka AS abhi bhi active hai. Biologics sabse acche rahenge. Tofacitinib accha hai lekin biologics best rahenge. Apne rheumatologist se discuss karna.

Sir, I have ps arthritis since 2020,
My doctor suggested me to take methotrexate+ hcqs. After 4 month I feel normal.
After using 1 year methotrexate+hcqs, suddenly my doctor suggested to take tofacitinib+hcqs/daily.(even I feel normal)
After 15 days of leaving methotrexate and taking tofacitinib, the pain returns in both hips.
Almost 3 months ho gaye hai tofacitinib+hcqs lete hue, but both hip me pain abhi bhi hai.
Sir, is tofacitinib better than dmards, please any help or suggestion?
If you were better with methotrexate it would be better to start it again. Do discuss with your doctor. Are you seeing a rheumatologist or an orthopaedic surgeon?

Hi Doctor, need urgent advice... My wife was eating Saaz DR for couple of years; however, for past few months she is eating Saaz Gastro resistant (she didn't check with chemist and bought it). She is outside India now, and cannot take Saaz DR now. Are these two meds same or different? I checked one says Sulphasalazine IP 500 and other says Sulphasalazine USP 500. Kindly help.
Saaz DS is a 1000 mg tablet. If the one she is taking is of 500 mg then she needs to double the dose.

@@Rohitk2085 If her prior dose was Saaz DS once a day, take Saaz 500 mg tablet twice a day. If the dose was Saaz DS tablet twice a day, take Saaz 500 mg tablet four times a day. Saaz delayed release & gastroresistant mean the same drug.
