Oh how much foreshadowing this episode leaves, one of my favorites in the Soul Society arc Zangetsu being the gigachad he is and Ichigo accepting him as a comrade
My God. When you know about the revelations that come later, you see so much foreshadowing. White Ichigo, the fact that Zangetsu stopped Ichigo's bleeding, Ichigo's aura before the last clash, and a few other things with Kenpachi. I swear Kubo is either the best at retconning or has the best foreshadowing and long game this side of Oda.

@@Wingnut353 I swear Kubo is a mad man. I honestly wonder if he actually planned all of this out or if he's like Toriyama and just writing by the seat of his pants. I wouldn't be surprised if he had some basic outline in mind, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he just sort of made it work.

[Tidbits]
- This episode expresses that a Shinigami's inner world
1. houses the manifestation of the Zanpaktou, thus elluding to the idea that Zanpaktou is a part of the Shinigami.
2. The Shinigami's lived experience directly effects the Zanpaktou, these concepts together show that the inner world represents a shinigami's soul, this is why Zangetsu likely hates the rain, if you recall ichigo's greatest trauma happened in the rain, so whenever he's going through strife it rains on the inside...Ichigo hates the rain, thus Zangetsu as an extension of Ichigo also hates the rain (rain being a metaphor for Ichigo's suffering)
- Glad you noticed the mask in his spiritual pressure because that's important way down the line.
A lot of the stuff that happens in this episode is *really important* but it doesn't show up again for like.... 200 to 400 episodes by which time most people have long forgotten it, which sucks because once it comes up again it's super fascinating.
Kubo is very intentional writer, in scenes dealing with ichigo's inner-world it's important to take note of what and how character's speak. Kubo will have characters say things in ways to make the viewer ignore it as if it's passable information, but don't fall for it lmao.
- For example the white evil-esk Ichigo calls Ichigo partner more than once, which should be odd considering this is there first time meeting right? the trick there is that people assume it's just a greeting phrase, kinda like someone saying "howdy partner"...so either Ichigo has meet him before or somethings off

This episode is the one that made me love Zangetsu.
Really recommend taking note of this White Ichigo’s words. I know you’re basically at the end of the arc now, but definitely keep his dialogue in mind
Kubo is so good at writing very important dialogue phrased in very specific ways. People have to really look at both what is said AND how it's said. Both are important. I've not seen many manga folks write dialogue as well as him.

My favorite character
Can you imagine how strong Kenpachi would be if he knew his zanpakuto's name? And old man Zangetsu has such a cool design I wish he showed up more often
Remember this episode among many others it comes back around later on. Especially what Zangetsu called that regular sword he tossed Ichigo.
Also remember what was said before zanpokuto are born from their master or a incarcerated version of themselves.
This is why Kenpachi is my favorite Bleach character. One of the best
It is utterly ridiculous how Zaraki became a captain without ever even achieving Shikai. It just goes to show that if Zaraki had an actual relationship with his Zanpakuto that Ichigo would have probably died in one strike.
One of the best episodes of the whole series. I loved every second of this reaction.

Kenpachi charging through a sword pointed directly at his face, unflinching and smiling, is a top 5 Bleach moment for me

The Inner World is always fun. Zangetsu makes it clear that his motivation is to protect Ichigo.
Then, we get the conclusion of the fight with Kenny. Is it any wonder that the fans love this Blood Knight? He is just entertaining. He's not someone who is going to BS you. He's telling you how it is. Then, he's going to hit you like a Mac Truck.
I think you picked up on some of the foreshadowing in this episode. Though none of it pays off for like 500 episodes.
Someone I know described Zaraki as a force of nature. Like a flood or a tsunami or a hurricane, he is raw power and force.
