When Callaway release new golf clubs often we think they are going to be the best golf clubs of 2023? the longest golf clubs of 2023? even the most forgiving golf clubs of 2023? the Callaway Paradym has taken the golf world by storm not just in its driver ranges but also in the callaway paradym fairway woods, callaway paradym hybrid, callaway paradym irons and even the callaway paradym triple diamond driver. but in this video were not talking paradym, were talking callaway apex. The callaway apex uw hybrid is a club that we haven't yet seen in europe but now we do! is this the best hybrid of 2023? let's find out... and let's do it now

Looks like a great club and always enjoy your reviews, James. I'd love for a someone (you!) to hook up with a high handicapper to participate in reviews, though. It's fun to see a great golfer and long hitter like yourself hit clubs, but it never feels like its too relevant to a newish 25-handicapper like myself! I'm pretty happy if my driver goes 220!

I've just picked up the previous version. 17 degree, X-Stiff Hzrdus Black shaft. Absolute rocket and beautiful to hit.
It has replaced both my 5 and 3 woods, due to it being more consistent than the 3 and longer than the 5!!

I’ve got the 17 and 21 degree in the previous version. I removed a fairway wood and utility wood from my bag. The low piercing shots I use to love hitting with my utility iron, I can hit with either one of the uw’s, and can hit high bombs with the 17 degree that rival what I can do with my fairway wood. The versatility of these won me over.
I've had the previous version 19* in the bag since it first came out. Definitely my favorite club and will be adding the newer version in 17* as soon as they become available.
I tried the original Apex UW and couldn’t get along with it but I’m a 17 handicap and do better with the stealth 2 plus in a 5 wood. Just shows how important getting fit and trying before buying is!

You should do a comparison of the Apex UW and the Paradym Super Hybrid to see if which one is the most forgiving!

Again, a potential game saver, .....BUT they will be priced at $409 Canadian !! FOUR HUNDRED AND NINE DOLLARS !!!!!!! Do they think we are all lottery winners ???? New golf club prices have become totally INSANE ⛳⛳⛳

The first gen of those was hard to find in Canada too, but that second gen definitely looks fantastic.
That MMT 70S isn’t a hybrid shaft, James, it’s a wood shaft. That’s part of what makes the UW such an awesome club. You can use the same .335 shafts you use in your driver and fairway wood in it. I loved the first generation and will be ordering one for sure when preorders open up here in the United States on August 25.
Been using the original UW 19* since it's release. One of the most consistent clubs in my bag honestly. It's my 230 carry club.
I have been searching for a 7 wood forever...this would fill my bag nicely!!
I’ve been using my 3 hybrid from the tee instead of my driver. Just find the hybrid easier to hit and I’m still getting decent distance and much better accuracy. ⛳️👍

I have a UW 19 and 17(adjusted to 16). Careful to play it like a Hybrid. The 16 goes 245 for me and the 19, 215 to 230. I struggled with fairway woods and these clubs are amazing to hit. I find these are easy to hit straight and they are long. I can also move these around quite easily with a cut or draw. With the shorter, thicker shaft I find it easy to adjust my swing. So, my setup is Driver, 17UW (replaces 3 wood) and 19 (replaces 5 wood). I doubt I will go back to Fairway woods. On days when my driver is not working, my 17UW can help a lot.

Saw your review on apex uw and I thought you described a club I've been playing for approximately twenty years a uw called the knife by La Jolla a 21 degree early rescue wood which I've loved playing it has shark like fins on bottom of club which helps cut through bad lies, a brilliant designed club I still use.
I use the rogue st 2H in replace of my driver sometimes. Looks very similar to that club. I switch between that and my 3w in the fairway. The 2H off the tee is very reliable for me. More than the 3w

I could definitely see me using that. I sport Apex Pro ‘16, Rogue Max. I am thinking of a 7 or 9 wood but, that UW (probably at 19) would fit in my gapping.
I have the original Apex UW in 19 deg with a 70g Hzrdus smoke stiff shaft and there is one hole on our 9 hole course at 240 yards, it is PERFECT off the tee for and it’s great for those long par4’s &5’s on the 18 hole course where the stealth+ 15deg is just too much!
I got my hands on the last model, sold it, gutted I did. Fantastic club

I've had the UW woods since 2022, 17 & 21 degree would not change these for love or money they are mint.
I struggle with driver and use a hybird off tee (well of deck) to keep it in play, be really interested in trying this out maybe get a bit more distance

The original rocketballz tour 19.5 hybrid looks a lot like this ...I know I carry one ...looks more like a wood than a hybrid in shape ....and I love mine go to club from 195 to 220 ...good looking club there will definitely check o e out
I'm not a fan of shots that max out at 230-240 yds either, but that's because my driver maxes out at 220.
I wonder how that Callaway UW would stack up against the Cleveland Halo Hy-Wood, which is an 18-degree combination of a fairway wood and hybrid.
I’d definitely consider putting the UW in the bag. I use players distance irons and my 4 iron is powerful. My current 3 hybrid plays the same length as my 4 iron, so this Apex UW I’d definitely worthy of a look.
I’ve got the Mizuno CLK 3 set @ 19 & CLK 4 @ 23.. I’ll keep those.

Brings to mind the Wilson Fybrids.
I play a 17* and 19* from the prior generation. They are absolute rockets. I play them because they are easier to hit than longer shafted fairway woods.

I have the original version. Not striking it my best right now and it still plays well.
I guess the big question is whether this is more difficult to hit reliably than a 3H or a 7W, which are both similar type clubs (at 21 degrees).
The first version hits great, but it's a difficult club to master.
I very much struggle with driver. I currently use my Calloway Rogue X 4 hybrid (20 degrees) off the tee most of the time.
In the market for a 4 hybride but i generally like a good better so thia UW coule be the perfect blend!
James please get a 4k camera, the 1080 can be painful at times
I wanted to try the previous model of this club but it was so expensive and really impossible to find one to try that I will stick with my trusty 2 iron for those days when the driver misbehaves
James, could you try this with some of your higher HC friends? Callaway market it towards GOOD players so be interesting to see how forgiving it is in lesser hands
I have it in the 17 with a Fuji VENTUS TR RED 8X....and its the best club in my bag. I can hit it off the fairway 230-240, and equally good off the tee. It's a sleeper....I'm surprised more people dont play it.

I think it looks like an old Taylormade V-Steel 3 wood. And that was one of the best clubs ever made.
It looks fine...like most clubs on the market. More importantly, does the club do something uniquely special, and does it have a pleasant sound and feel. I just bought the previous version of the UW, and I am waiting for it.
This has made me smile. I still use my 17 year old Taylormade rescue fairways because they out-perform every modern hybrid I've tried. Never understood why TM stopped making them. These seem to be a very similar idea: hybrid shafts and lofts with fairway wood style heads. Will definitely give them a go
I bought my wife a used Calloway womens 5 hybrid. It is laughable how easy it is to hit. I can stoke it 185, I can 3/4 hit it 140. They don’t want to make clubs like these. U just end up using it all the time
I have a RBZ 4 hybrid in my bag. All the other clubs are less than 2 years old, epic speed woods and Wilson D9 irons. I always hit it SOLD, better than the new 3 and 5 woods.
@@pelicanlover69 they design the new models for the highest of swing speed players without regard for feel. then they charge 6x the value of the club. the golf club manufacturers are the true villian of golf

To my eyes it looks very 2012 Callaway RAZR fit. Can't believe clubs are not more modern looking. That said, I'd put it in my bag, looks sooo playable!
I have two in the bag, a 17 bent to 15.5 with an evo 6 757 and a 19 bent to 20.5 with an evo 5 757 . They are both built short and heavy at 39.5 at d5.5. It’s a 4 wood / 7 wood since my three wood is 43.1/4 and 12* 🤣
Shiny heads on driver, fwy wood, and hybrid are kinda out of the question 4 me. After playing black Wedges, and matte crowned drivers/ hybrids there's no going back

This club is 💰. I have a tendency to hook every hybrid I try, but this isn't so upright/draw biased. Goes straight to a slight fade
I would definitely have this in my bag. I have the Callaway XR 4 wood at 16 degree. I have some mobility issues due to an operation which means I am not the biggest hitter with driver. My second shot on par 4 or 5s tends to be a bit long. The XR and a Cobra Biocell at 20 deg are card savers. Both second hand from the Golf Factory in North Tyneside. Highly recommended for anyone in the NE of England.

Seriously looking for that consistent/forgiving 200 yd club and this may be it (in 21*), unless you have any other recommendations.
How far do you hit a fairway wood? You will honestly be surprised how far these go. If you watch 2nd swings review of them, their reviewer was getting fairway wood yardage out of this, and 20-40 yards more than other hybrids of similar loft.
Doesn't look much different to my Epic hybrid 19 degrees with stiff shaft. It's just pure every time you hit it. It goes so straight with an awesome ball flight
U bet I'll put it in the bag. It will replace my old one which I love. Maybe a different loft

How does it compare to the Cleveland HyWood?, equally a mix between Hybrid and Fairway Wood.
I've never tried the Cleveland, but I have used the previous Callaway UW. I would say the UW flies a bit further and higher than the same lofted hybrid and is less likely to hook. I am really considering picking this one up.
I’ve had both the previous generation UW and the Hy-Wood and the UW is much, much, much less draw-biased.

I've got the previous version and was absolutely my favorite club ever till a month in got caught in rain and face rusted so bad it doesn't even feel or hit same now. I messaged callaway to get a replacement and I quote all our woods from that period lack the coating to keep them from rusting due to covid. So my awesome club now sucks and callaway says ur screwed they won't replace it very very disappointed I callaway. So much so I'm very seriously considering getting rid my apex irons callaway driver and all as my bag was mostly callaway but that really upset me I don't understand how u could make such a good club and not stand behind it. And to not put a coatin to keep it from rusting is ridiculous only a 300 plus dollar club

@@Kdpeters80 I'm saying fairways cost way too much these days. No I haven't tried one. I like the idea but I'm happy with my set. If they offered many different lofts and priced competitively, I'd take a look. I don't pour money to cure a shit game.

There’s nothing new in golf, Wilson mad the FYbrid in the early 2000’s and still do a version now, basically it was a Fairway Hybrid (Fybrid), Taylor made did a fairway version of their original hybrids, Callaway have just reinvented it.
I dont think the look is in my "best ever" list. I like the mavrik looks and i have the cobra LTDx 4 hybrid, which flys about the same distance and i think it looks better...thats obviously personal preference though. Great review!
Cobra king SL 5 wood I would think would definitely go the same distance, Callaway nightmare every year another club 😮, it does get slightly on my nerves to be honest.

Definitely wouldn't buy one, so many people will start to go off these brands, why because they are overpriced and generally the same club as the previous and probably the year before that.
The not so cool brands will start competing with these brands as they are more affordable and cheaper but potentially just as good, like Wilson staff D9 irons etc

Over priced at 400 us! That’s more than most fairway woods! Golf companies have lost their minds! We’re entering a WORLDWIDE recession, and golf companies think people have money like this laying around? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I don’t know about where you live, but here the tee sheets are all WIDE open! Golf has had a great revival through the pandemic, but it’s ending!
