Exactly what I was looking for... a really good comparison in an "ordinary" situation. Colour is actually truer with better contrast in the AX700. And small details are a bit more detailed and sharper. BUT the AX53 is half the price. If you use it personally, for everyday use then that's what you should go for... a great camera! If you want a camera for more professional applications and better features than buy the AX700.
Ax700 better image in relationship to sharpness and smoothness but without knowing the settings of both cameras this could be slightly misleading. Colour is flatter on the Ax700. But could be adjusted in post. Both produce usable footage and seemed to keep focus equally.

They look pretty similar when viewing the footage in 720p. But when you go to 1080p or higher, the AX700 is clearly the better performer. It just has better clarity and produces a brighter image. That said, the AX53 certainly performs well enough for most uses, considering how much less it costs. But if you need the best low light performance and image clarity, the AX700 is obviously the way to go. For the typical person who just needs a good camcorder for everyday use, the AX53 is probably the better buy. But for those who may require semi-professional quality video, just bite the bullet and shell out the extra cash for the AX700.

The AX53 for me, it's a lot brighter, and the colors are more vivid.
What I like about the AX53 (and the AX43 for that matter) is the you can set the Iris while pointing the camera at what you want to film, and it will automatically set the shutter speed to match (aperture priority on a DSLR) . There were loads of videos where people tried to set both on full manual cameras (Panasonics especially) and got it wrong, most them going on to shoot in full auto from then on.
Here you point the Sony at what you want, set the Iris so the pic looks good on the screen, lock it in, and it stays that way, camera choosing the shutter speed.
Choosing shutter speed instead can still have burnouts etc on white areas.
They both look the same until you watch the video in 4K and that’s when you can see how much clearer the ax700 looks. However they both look great but the 700 edges out the 53 in 4K
For the money the AX53 is the winner 👍
They will look similar in the day, but at night the larger sensor/lens of AX700 will look way better
AX53 looks slightly cleaner to me, but I can't really tell any difference
If you cannot tell the difference how do you know it is cleaner ?
AX53 got better colour but the AX700 is smoother
The AX700 has pro settings and customizing features. The AX53 is just a regular recording cam. Get the AX700 if you want more in your camcord, i have one and its way better than the AX53 no debate.
The AX700 hands down you can read the writing on the bus stop next to the bus but not able to read it on the AX53, I presume the higher price means they are also using better grade lenses?

AX53, the ambulance colour was much more vibrant on this one. The lights seemed slightly brighter as well.
It's a nice test to understand the sensor size difference.

There is no noticeable difference, is it shoot in 100Mb/s? 60Mb/s?, Cine4, Cine2...or auto color??? Videos on the same camera can be so much more different depending of settings...ax700 have some advantages, that can't be seen in this situation... (Hybrid AF, Built in ND filters, Dual card slots, HDR, bigger sensor, lot of custom settings...)
700 had blacker blacks, less highlight blowout (more DR) and higher resolution. I'm sure it is much better in low light too.
Sony AX56 was a bit clearer but I couldn’t see much of a difference
I don't see a huge difference in quality for 1000 $ difference
Are we comparing the cameras or, CZcams video encoding, or the original encoding? If so, for both, there is a lot of image/frame stuttering on the panning objects. Looking at the clarity of two objects in particular for the AX53 the traffic light (number 4) at @1:29 and the girl's face at 1:36 seem clearer and smoother than the AX700 @2:11 and 2:18 respectively. But this could just be the video encoding. Clearly the video stream is not encoding framing at 25 or 30 fps, base for these camcorders; It's more like 5-6 fps.
On 4K, the AX700 shows more detail, for example the leaves on trees.
The AX700 with its larger sensor
has better quality and better low light capability
but the AX53 has other
important benefits (balanced optical steadyshot and smaller size/weight) so it depends on what you prioritize. I think the AX53 is more suitable for filming responding emergency vehicles in most situations

AX700 is better, reflected in the price tag and has more control, but the ax53 looks decent. Which would be better for doing clips of wildlife?

This is an audio question: Did you have like a Rhode mic plugged in or was the audio just from the cams mic, this is question on both? I’m looking at both of as well as the Canon that is closely compared.
Video: I like the AX700 just a tiny bit more than the AX53. I see more clarity but the differences are so subtle to me. The stabilization is great even though to be side by side they are mounted.

Good video, but test footage comparison of 4k against 4k doesn't show the real reasons as to why to buy which camera. The ax700 has the ability on a certain mode to go 960 fps for slow motion capture, it also has well programmed auto focus that is faster and it covers with sharper image to fill more detail. I know you know this but just saying
I think they are equally worthy but the price will also have to do with which is better I think
Does the ax700 have nightshot. Also love a bit of Bristol city center
0:38 2160p sharpness and clarity difference. AX53 has some lag while the AX700 processed the movement fast

how wish you were able to compare it in low light as well plus their stabilization. I need to buy one and I am totally confused which is the most suitable for me. considering the price .as I see in regards with color and contrast there is not much difference really. looking at the leaves obviously AX700 has higher resolution but regarding low light shot and stabilization I do not know.
AX700 performs considerably better than the AX53 at night. AX53 has better zoom though.
Obviously the AX53 but those are the commoners who set their TVs to vivid mode

Not much of a difference if I’m being honest. It’s difficult to compare the focus, stability and stuff like that because it also depends on the camera operator. However I think the AX53 is slightly better on the colors.
No difference, just AX700 cameraman is doing better job here. 😄
At 0:33 you can see the kids face on AX700 but cant on the AX53.
Video has to be paused to see. Look in 1440p or 2160p
