As a female Navy veteran and my husband is retired US NAVY officer, I laughed at your daughter's reaction to the size and " wanting them to be smaller ". A carrier, the big ships with an air wing, has a crew of 5000!! On a Navy ship there are legal officers, doctors, dentists, and mainly enlisted sailors who do the daily day to day of feeding , caring, cleaning, air craft or ordnance, personnel, pay issues, security etc..They are floating cities who receive supplies, fuel etc from other ships..like a floating store that even delivers weaponry.. all the training and attention to detail is why things work!!!! When you take the oath, you understand the sacrifice. The most important aspect of all the awesomeness is the dedication of every sailor and their family!!! GOD BLESS 🇺🇸 AMERICA, THE 🇬🇧 UK AND you!!!❤❤❤

The main problem with that factual statement is that there are 57 Islamic countries whom we'd be forced to defeat, and then occupy for years after defeating our main opponents, -the Marxist communist states, -China, Russia, North Korea, and all previous Warsaw pact forces that Russia would be forced to recall , or go immediately to violation of the nuclear treaties with the United States, the United Kingdom, NATO, and the United Nations!
We ARE currently heading into WWIII, primarily because Joe Biden is an inept, corrupt, senile old man who's ignorance an wrong headedness regarding foreign policy, is actually embarrassing the military, all Americans, our allies, - and his family's personal corruption and refusal to even acknowledge his complicity regarding his personal, and ILLEGAL financial dealings with foreign government officials while Barack Obamas vice president, has left him open to major scrutiny, and questionable loyalty to the Constitutional Republic he, and his handlers currently lord over!

The reason we build our aircraft carriers so big is to accommodate the crews with living quarters, storage facilities for food, and cooking ingrediants, a full fledged industrial kitchen, recreational workout rooms, lots of bathrooms, as well as plenty of hanger space to store aircraft, parts, munitions. You also have to take into account the amount equipment needed to maintain all the systems, from catapult, to emergency landing nets, landing tow cables as well as firefighter equipment in case of deck fire or fire outbreak with in the ship. The Nimitz was the largest class of aircraft carrier until we built the Gerald R. Ford class Super carrier which unlike the Nimitz can house 6000 military personal including their flight crews. We have the best military b/c of the amount of hardships our people went through from American Revolution, American Civil War, 2x World Wars, Vietnam, Korean war, Gulf war, Iraq and Afganistan wars. We pour so much into our military not so we can use it and boast the best in the world, but b/c when the time comes and someone strikes at us, we will have the capability to strike back hard and fast with out causing civilian collateral. One of our Presidents had one of the best policies that still holds true today", Speak softly and carry a big stick, you will go far". In laymens terms " the exercise of intelligent forethought and of decisive action sufficiently far in advance of any likely crisis".

As far as Navy Ships go.. I am a Retired US Navy Serviceman with 30 years total service...
The basic idea is the weight pushes down to displace the water and the equal and opposite reaction is for the water to push back so to provide buoyancy to the ship so it floats. Now you do have to balance a ship front to back and left to right as to keep as close as you can to a "Zero Bubble" meaning it doesn't lean naturally to the left or right or sit nose down or up wh n it's sitting still.
Carriers have been something both the US and the UK have been masters at building CV's for decades and Franch has also joined that club. The Soviet Union, and later Russia as well as India and recently China have entered into building Carries like the US and UK but have struggled to achieve the experience that Western Nations have... This is based solely on the experience gained over the decades that the US and UK have had with Carriers.

The old-style paddle wheelers look like floating house porches, but the modern ones look like smaller versions of the ocean liners and cruise ships.
By the way! Ships made to cross big oceans are built with stronger bows and hulls to withstand the waves. Coastal cruise ships aren't built that way!

Regarding the conversation in the beginning, about US cops, even as a US Marine veteran, when I've been pulled over, I get a bit nervous because I don't know what to expect from the cop in terms of his/her level of fear, level of professionalism and level of ego. I haven't been pulled over much in my 31 years of driving, but every time it's a bit of a crapshoot whether you're gonna deal with an actual professional, or someone who is scared to death of their own shadow and therefore very dangerous.
The last time I was pulled over, 4 years ago, for supposedly barely running a red light (I fully believe I made it, but didn't bother fighting it in court), when he finally flipped on his lights about 2000 meters down the road, I immediately pulled over. And then, after him shouting orders like "turn off your vehicle and place your keys on the dashboard and keep your hands on top of the steering wheel" over the loudspeaker, he got out and approached my vehicle so extremely cautiously, practically halfway crouched, with his hand on his sidearm the entire time, as if I was gonna bust out with frags and a machine gun, as if he's in a literal warzone. If I had combat related PTSD, that may have triggered flashbacks to be honest. As I saw him approaching in that manner, my anxiety increased significantly (plus I have a diagnosed severe case of anxiety disorder to begin with), because he came off as very unpredictable. He's armed with a pistol and a taser after all, and I think I'd possibly die from getting hit by a taser due to the heart related health issues I have, and US cops seem to have a tendency to use tasers just for being disrespected in their minds at times.
He was also a totally disrespectful dick to me, for no real reason, despite my treating him with absolutely unearned and undeserved respect, and I found his behavior to be an overcompensation for his feelings of ineptitude as a man, though ironically to me his actions came off as those of a scared little boy with a badge. And this was in a decent low crime part of the Disneyland resort area, and I'm white, so imagine how minorities must feel in that situation.
On a side note, if you visit Disneyland, be wary of the Anaheim Police Department. They have a bad reputation for a reason. A mile down the road from Disneyland, where I live in Garden Grove, the GG police department is actually pretty chill in comparison. I would suggest that you don't justify this kind of behavior from the police due to the possibility of being shot (as you did in this video). Cops VERY rarely get killed in the line of duty, and when they do, it's usually traffic accidents when they're running red lights to pursue a suspect or rush to a call (I lower the volume of my music whenever I approach an intersection, just in case, so I can hear sirens, but most people likely don't). It's not shootings. That's not what it's about. It's about a very bad culture within a lot of police departments. Some departments are reasonable and professional and feel they serve the citizens of the city (which is the actual case), and some are fascistic and consider the citizens of their city to be subordinate to them (as in the case of the Anaheim PD). It all comes from the attitudes at the top within those departments, and the hiring standards within those individual departments. Most combat troops don't even act as scared in an actual combat zone as some cops do in situations that are much safer (as in the situation I described during my last traffic stop). Don't excuse their fear. It's unfounded. The ones full of fear picked the wrong line of work apparently. Thankfully they didn't go infantry in the Army or Marines though (and I guarantee that's the case with the "bad apples" because if they were combat vets, they wouldn't be so constantly terrified), because those ego-based attitudes and fears will compromise missions and get a lot of their fellow troops killed.

We definitely have bad apples in the bunch however, most police officers are very courteous, professional, and polite but if you give them a hard time, you’re gonna find yourself in the middle of a hard time. Any enemy fortunate enough to get past/through our military, is THEN going to have to handle many *MILLIONS* of us who have more personal firearms, than any other military on the planet! Most of us are also former Military/Law Enforcement, Hunters, Shooters, Archers, Trappers, and we know our territory/terrain better than any invader.
I'd pity the Fools, except if they take it that far, they'll have earned exactly what happens to them, next!
It's a very simple concept, but one that far too many choose to ignore/deny- WE are the single best 'First Responders' to any threat. No one else is there, at that moment, when someone is trying to harm/kill you or others, which is why our 2A matters in a Civilian engagement.
Of course, that's not why our 2A was acknowledged (NOT 'Allowed/Permitted!'). It is in our Bill of Rights for the sole reason to keep our govt. from going rogue, corrupt, traitorous against the American People.

Regarding cruise ships & the wish that they'd be smaller. It's more efficient & economical to power one big ship than many smaller units, it uses less polluting fuel & you'd need more horizontal space, this filling more water space because you'd have more ships carrying the same number of people, more space between them to reduce collisions, and more manpower to watch & track these boats to direct traffic & watch for problems. Large ships also have entertainment, smaller ships would either forego that part or more entertainers would be hired.

U.S. has "Nuclear Football" which is a briefcase used by president to communicate & authorize a nuclear attack while he is away from command centers, such as White House Situation Room or Presidential Emergency Operations Center. There are 4 things in the Football.
#1 - Black Book containing retaliatory options
#2 - book listing classified site locations where president could be taken in an emergency
#3 - manila folder with description of procedures for Emergency Alert System
    #4 - 3" x 5" card [7.5 × 13 cm] with authentication codes to release nuclear weapons.
There is a 2nd nuclear football with "gold codes" to launch nuclear weapons that vice president has with him when he travels.
Process to launch a nuclear weapon have several steps & isn't just pushing a button. There are rules & procedures to followed.
    - If president decides to use nuclear weapons, nuclear football briefcase would be opened.
    - Command signal "watch" alert would be issued to Joint Chiefs of Staff (heads of each division of military).
    - President reviews options with military & decides on a plan of a single cruise missile to multiple ICBMs.
    - Military aide contacts National Military Command Center & prepare 2nd strike, & transmits valid nuclear launch code to all operational nuclear delivery systems.
    - 2-person verification procedure would precede entering of codes.
    - Before order can be processed by military, president must be positively identified using a special code issued on a plastic card, nicknamed the "biscuit."
    - U.S. has 2-man rule at nuclear launch facilities & both have to agree it is a valid in order to arm a nuclear weapon. While only president can order release of nuclear weapons, order must be verified by secretary of defense to be an authentic to ensure order came from actual president.
    - Once all codes have been verified, president may order use of nuclear weapons through Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff to combat commanders & to forces in the field exercising direct control of weapons. Orders are given & then re-verified for authenticity.

Sigh, no, there's not a simple red button in the white house that fires ICBM. If the president of the United States wants to authorize a nuclear attack, he does so from the White House Situation Room or the Presidential Emergency Operations Center. If he is away from those locations, a presidential aide carries a briefcase called the nuclear football (also known as the atomic football, the president's emergency satchel, the Presidential Emergency Satchel, the button, the black box, or just the football). It functions as a mobile hub in the strategic defense system of the United States.

Since this video was made, the military has improved. We have more aircraft. The Gerald R. Ford Super Aircraft carrier has been launched. It's bigger, much faster & nimble in the water to avoid direct hits it uses a magnetic launcher rather than steam that other countries use, & is nuclear powered. This means it can sail for well over a decade without refueling. It only stops to have, either Ariel supplies received & to replace crews. It can otherwise run non-stop. This aircraft was tested to see if it could survive a non direct nuclear blast within a few meters. Stealth tech was successfully stolen by China & Russia but it's still not as good. If you've seen a Marvel movie that shows how they made a Hela-Carrier disappear, the US can now do this on planes. They won't be easily visible using plain sight. New land vehicles are being deployed that use lasers to destroy any shoulder fired RPGs or small shoulder fired rockets before they hit. We have ships that shoot planes with lasers & Satellites that can fire lasers from space, thanks to the creation of a new military branch called space force. There are talks of being able to setup a base on the moon to fire lasers from the moon too. This would be limited since the moon isn't as mobile as a satellite.

Being a U.S. Navy veteran, I can honestly say the best sleep I ever had was on board a carrier. The gentle rocking after a 12-18 hour shift put me to sleep like a baby in minutes. Of course, the worst wake up I’ve ever had was when they were doing decommission quals. Max speed and “turning on a dime” in carrier standards was not exactly the wake up call we expected, especially when some of were on the floor after being rolled out of our bunks due to the angle of the turn. Those of us who had a heads up actually tied ourselves into our racks (bunks) to keep from ending up on the deck (floor).

Cruise ships have security officers on board. Also, cruise ships are governed by the country of their home port. If a cruise ship is flying under a UK flag, it's subject to all UK laws, even in international waters. It’s not a free for all out there. If there is a crime on board, they will be arrested by security and held in the brig (Jail) until they are turned over to the proper authorities. The same goes for airplanes. The flight crew have legal powers to detain someone until the plane lands.
