There were no driving lessons available where I lived and when I took my driving test it was a series of 6 right turns (including out of and back into the parking lot). All of the right turns were either at a stop sign or stoplight. We basically went around the block. I’d love to have a fabulous driving instructor like this lady.
My driving instructor used to constantly roll joints, and talk about his “witch in law”. His wife’s mum. Died of a brain tumour, but was actually a nice guy!
My instructor gave me like minimal pointers the first few lessons and then I was basically driving him around town for errands while he watched TikTok 😅
Two lanes were exiting to the dual carriageway and as a learner she should have been to the left of the van, thereby avoiding shifting lanes. That’s the reason for the confusion with the green car.
I’m the us it’s illegal to switch lanes in an intersection, you have to switch before of after. It’s interesting to learn the differences in driving laws between countries!
In America there are no manual cars.. like. Why would I learn how when I’ll never need to know how? You have to buy a special car nowadays to even get a manual. I do agree in places where 90% of cars are manual,yea, duh, but in the states it’s just excessive. Nobody buys manual’s anymore. Unnecessary. Excessive. It’s a perfect theft prevention device, having a Manual transmission😂 my grandmas old Subaru was manual. Made me car sick. You know.
@@xKayNee yes it’s very true, we really just don’t have automatics at all. Very very few new cars are automatic, you have to research and find a car that is, you can’t just walk onto a car dealership and ask for a manual. Manual transmissions tend to break much much much MUCH sooner than automatics, especially because nobody knows how to up or downshift, even in Europe where it’s normal to have a manual people don’t know how to drive it so my whole trip is why even bother with one? They have only downsides other than some people find it “fun”. Few people enjoy having to shift a car that should be able to shift itself😂 my car has a mode where I can make the automatic transmission shift like a manual, I can choose all 6 gears.. every once in a while I’ll put it in sequential mode but immediately switch it back because it’s too much shit to deal with. It’s a 2010 Camry. I really do see your point though, in places where manuals are common jt should absolutely be required 100% i agree.

I just personally chose manual because its fun, and it gives me the option to drive any of my friends cars if necessary whether it is automatic or manual. If your place doesn't have a manual though then yeah no point learning it I agree
From the states - Oregon to be specific- I absolutely loved my drivers ed teachers, I was paired with the wife, students could kind of pick who they felt more comfy with and within realm of possibility they would let you choose who you drive with for private lessons , anyway, my instructor said not one word the entire first drive other than directions, they just wanna see how you do and if you need any basic things. Then the second - the 6th, 6 driving lessons 30mins each - they have 2 students ride in the back seat with you and are able to ask questions, this mimics real driving with other people so you can get used to hearing minor distractions and not be distracted, learning how to focus on the road. Anyway, I was a good driver to begin with so I didn’t need much teaching other than parking, she had me at least go into a parking lot and park a bunch of times all kinds of ways, she always told me though I was one of the best drivers in the class and had no advice or further reaching. I remember at one point she showed me her clipboard and said “look! It’s blank! Nothing else for me to teach you!”. She was really sweet, had a real intense lazy eye but she could see really well and was very attentive. One girl I had to ride with was so bad at driving, like, absolutely no idea how a car functions and I was so terrified BECAUSE THIS CAR HAD NO AIRBAGS!! None. It was so sketchy and I had actually told that teacher I didn’t wanna ride with her anymore, she laughed and agreed I could change groups
Every time I see one of these videos I am thankful I was born when automatics became a thing, and live in a place with no crazy intersections, otherwise I would have never been able to learn to drive.
I had a great driving instructor and think everyone should have this option. Sad to hear so many stories about bad instructors, or no option for lessons at all.
As HGV DRIVER I wouod have stayed in left of the 2 straight lanes and check carefully, around me and indicate when leaving roundabout.its easier to see on my right than left the undertakers.
She even teaches them to accelerate properly, I am so happy instructors like her exist. My instructor was similar, but I had to learn in a Mitsubishi L200 from the Austrian Armed Forces... That was fun, sitting in a 5,2m long vehicle at the very beginning.
Wow it’s so different from Boston lol we don’t even have stick shift anymore really. You have to special order it and it’s so rare anymore. Most of us don’t know how to drive manual anymore lol! It’s impossible in the traffic here

I dont think the green car was silly at all. You went from the right exit lane of the rounabout across to the left side of the road cutting the car up. Then of course as they are learning it took them a while to get up to speed so the green car overtook. Just poor pre-planning from the instructor.

Usually if its safe to do so, you would exit in the left lane. This situation was iffy because the green car was too fast despite it being initially in the safe lane.

Unsure why you wouldn't have moved into the left lane well before getting behind the blue van when both lanes were going off at that exit. Might have been less stressful when there was no traffic in that lane...

People saying why didn’t she go in the left lane sooner. check the bottom camera. There are white diagonal lines in their left lane so they can’t move over where they are, they need to go forward then switch. The vehicle that came speeding up from behind is completely in the wrong: 1. This is a learner and shown as such, they signalled and moved so the green car should’ve given space 2. Green car obviously saw the speed limit change and got giddy trying to race up to that speed, again learner in front so reduce speed and give space.
She didn't do anything wrong. I'm confused at the instruction for her to move across... Aside from worrying about upsetting other road users, why was she directed to move to the left lane?
As we don’t want to stay in overtaking lane unnecessarily The design on this roundabout puts us into the overtaking lane as we go round so if the left is clear we try and move down, it was Savannah’s first attempt and I don’t want to complicate the right turn by switching as we first approached The green car was intending on speeding up and passing on the left which is dangerous (we signalled and moved over in plenty of time
she seems like a pretty new driver, so would probably be less confident picking up speed quickly on the dual carriageway so the instructor knows its safer to be on the left lane so other cars can overtake

why all the cars in front folow the exit on the fast right lane and you tell her to change lane in the middle of roundabout...? accident waiting to happen. stai in your lane take exit and when you can check mirror signal and engage to change to lane 1...omg can understand the comment " ohhh professionalism and stuff" that is a bad lesson

Why didn’t you just stay in the lane instead of cutting up the folks on the left. You were in a lane marked as a right-lane exit for exit 2….. you could have just stayed in that lane until you’d finished the roundabout.
Yes true but then we would be too slow in the overtaking lane, causing the car in the right lane to overtake on the left which is unsafe So I got Savannah to switch back when it was clear, the green car sped up as soon as they set off, (this was Savannah’s first attempt at a bit roundabout leading onto a dual carriageway)

Better instruction would have been to preemptively pick the left lane or continue with the exit until the danger pissed off toward the horizon. Theres nothing inherently unsafe about other people undertaking you. Theres inherent dangers weaponising your L-plates and students against people undertaking you. That car could have undertook you and you’d go “huh naughty”, but instead you intentionally chose the right lane, and intentionally chose to cut off the car. Shoddy instruction.

When accelerating she should hold the revs longer. At least 4k before shifting into next one. It will accelerate faster.
